"Make sure there's a ward on Chimera."
"Got it."
Of the three bosses in CAR, the Chimera was the easiest to fight. After that came the Tyrant, a massive lizard like monster that increased friendly minions in each wave, and finally the Divine Guardian which healed the entire team on death, dropped a large amount of gold, and the Resurrect Scroll which could revive an ally instantly.
The reason Miranda could kill the Chimera was because she built her character to do that specifically. Almost all of her items were dedicated to killing jungle camps faster. Against the Chimera if she had the regular jungle buffs she could just barely solo it.
Of course that was then.
After a long standoff mid tower was gone. The first to fall was Kelly who got pulled in by the Telekineticist. After that the rest of the enemy team piled under the Pillar for a 5 v 3. They all got out alive, but didn't have much health left.
[The Chimera has been slain!]
"I thought we had a ward on it!"
"We do!"
"What?! Then why didn't we stop her from doing it?"
"We were killing them."
"Okay. We didn't notice it this time." Nobody Care's mid outer Pillar fell and the enemy team kept pushing for the mid inner Pillar as well. After killing it they all backed off before Kelly and the other who were respawning could take advantage of their low health and returned to their base. "Next that happens we should-"
[The Tyrant has been slain!]
"- make sure we're paying attention."
For a few seconds there was dead silence.
"Everyone push out the lanes and then get to the Chimera. I want this b*tch dead."
Everything was set. The lanes were pushed and they had even taken out the inner top Pillar. All five team members were grouped hiding a shrub near the Chimera which was due to respawn soon. All the pathways to the Chimera were lit up by wards. No matter which direction she came from, they were ready.
"Keep your eyes peeled. I don't want her to so much as get in sight range of the Chimera! I don't want-"
"Um, Blake? They just took top Pillar."
"What?!" Sure enough all five members of Nobody Cares were wrecking the top lane with the help of their larger than normal minion wave thanks to the Tyrant. "Back and stop them."
"Push, push, push!" Kelly clicked the enemy Pillar far more times than were useful or necessary. "Wait, Miranda where are you going?"
"To kill Chimera."
Miranda used her Warp Tonic to warp to a stealth beacon next to the Chimera spawn and went about murdering the poor beast.
Nobody Cares only managed to push through the top Inner Pillar before they were forced to back up as the enemy avatars arrived at base and rushed over to stop them.
"Blake, she's on Chimera."
"F*ck my life! Go, kill them all!"
As one the enemy only partially killed the minion wave and chased down the fleeing members of Nobody Cares. As a naturally slow class, Archie had no hope of escape. He was swallowed whole in only a moment. Kelly and Rina also fell leaving Jacob as the only person to make it out alive.
"Try hiding in here and backing Jacob." Archie pinged a nearby shrub. "You can't outrun them."
"No don't back."
Yet again the others stared at Kelly in confusion.
"Warp to the bot lane and push."
"Oh, I got it." Jacob hid in the bush and used his Warp Tonic to warp to the huge bot lane minion wave which had already cracked the outer Pillar and was now hammering away at the inner Pillar.
[The Chimera has been slain!]
He managed to take down the Pillar protecting the Crystal before being slaughtered by the enemy team.
The enemy jungler Blake ground his teeth and a lopsided grin appeared on his face. "A good last ditch effort but now it's time to seal the game." As five his team took the last inner Pillar, the one in bot lane. They took the Pillar protecting the Crystal. They took the Crystal itself which meant that as long as the Crystal hadn't respawned their minion waves in that lane would spawn with a powerful ballista minion. Then they took one of the Pillar's protecting the Core and almost the second one as well before being forced to back off.
"And that should do it," he remarked happily. They now had a minion advantage in that lane thanks to the ballistas. It would push into the enemy base gaining momentum in the same way the enemy's had when they had the Tyrant buff. All they had to do was group as five. Their avatars were more powerful than the enemy avatars. Their minions would be more powerful than their opponents'. One last fight to win to win the game.
Black lines appeared on the enemy's foreheads as they realized something. "...She killed the Chimera twice while we were pushing didn't she? F*ck it whatever."
"We're doomed," Jacob proclaimed gloomily.
"What, why?"
"After the enemy backs they'll buy Warp Tonics and Warp into our base to end the game."
"Not if I do this." Miranda bought a lot of disruptor towers and covered the entire base. Disruptor towers were couldn't be hidden and were very easy to destroy. But they also shut down enemy wards and prevented teleports under their wide coverage. "Everyone to the Divine Guardian! Also, their bot and mid used Warp Tonics earlier and they'll still be on cooldown."
With all five members of their team and disruption from the enemy, Nobody Cares killed the Divine Guardian super fast. Like clockwork they rotated to kill the Tyrant next. Miranda didn't go with them.
"If they warp to our base, back immediately," Kelly reminded everybody. "If they come for us just focus on killing the Tyrant."
Sure enough the enemy team showed up at Tyrant, but it was already too late. They were originally rushing to Divine Guardian but momentarily split up after it was killed as team members rushed in different directions and then regrouped before contesting Tyrant.
"Go, Warp into their base. Go go go!"
"I can't! The game won't let me!"
"Is this sh*t broken? Wtf?"
"They have disruptor towers. Warp here."
"Got it."
Seconds wasted. Not many, but enough. Just as they were entering the opposing base everybody on the team hit their heads against the keyboards when they saw the new notification.
