Luke has fallen asleep in the afternoon. Finally Alex found time to speak to Lara alone.
"Lara."
"Yes, Mr. Liu?" Lara looked up from the magazine she's reading.
"What's that you're reading?"
Uh. This is your ship, you must have known what's in here right?
"Some random stuff."
"Architectural designs? You like them?" His browns raised. He wanted to learn more about her. More than what Assistant Cheng reported. Like her eating habits, her interests, preferred clothing.
"They're nice." She smiled. Indeed she like modern furnitures and wanted to redecorate her house. She wanted to make it brighter and more comfortable for Luke. However, right now she is jobless.
"What's your next plan?" He gently inquired. He knows she is worrying about finding a job now. But he can't just impose his plans or this woman might flee the next second. Hell, she always say she wanted to go home, and he's not doing anything yet.
"Job hunting." She said without pause.
"Well then, what can you do?" Her eyebrows raised. Is he asking her qualifications? Sure thing, he owns a big corporation, and under it successful companies in different fields. He can give her work if he wants to.
But,
"Not much. Im an undergraduate at the Conservatory of Music, and only been working as an assistant for the past few years."
That explains her character then. She is an introvert from the start, not all musicians are an introvert though. But he understands that most of them can only concentrate on their craft if left alone.
And having a son at an early age made her submit to her fate, making her more timid and compliant. But when she awoke the previous night she was feisty, and he like that side of her.
Hmmn, I'll make sure to make the kitty a feisty tiger then.
"How about working for me?"
Lara look at the man questioningly. Hasn't she just stated she isn't qualified to work for him? Ah nevermind, as long as it pays she can consider even being a maid!
Alex watched her expressions and smiled to himself. The cat is in the bag hehe.
"I can get a nanny for Luke for when we are busy and unable to watch him. He can also have a tutor so he won't get bored in the big house."
Blacklines appeared in Lara's forehead. Wait. What is he telling?
"You can also continue your studies, but once your classes are over you have to come back home immediately. I will assign a car and a driver for you."
Wait. Wait. Wait! What is happening?! Nanny and tutor for Luke? Car and driver for me?! Come back home? Which home?! Her study? Has he any idea how expensive it is to study? How is she gonna pay for all that?
She is so confused. She look at Alex as if he became an alien in front of her.
But he didn't give her a chance to overthink things.
"What can you say? Do you accept?"
"But you haven't told me what I will do, yet." Lara pouted.
Alex has an urge to bite her pouted lips. He finds it cute.
"I didn't?" Ofcourse he didn't. He wanted to tempt her first with the offer.
Lara shook her head negatively.
"Act as my wife."
It took about 5 seconds before she processed what he said. Alex almost laughed out loud with the expression on her face.
Lara is screaming inside. Act as your what?!?
Wife?! What wife?! Oh my God! Who am I? Where am I? She held her temples and refused to look at him.
