Chapter 18 - Chapter Eighteen

When the lecturer decided that the contents he had delivered were enough, Canya was forced to bang her head on her desk in frustration. Her face was red and the veins of her temples bulged with a twist. Her classmates tried to ask, but she was too thwarted to satisfy their curiosity. No one had at least told her that Eddie was alive and kicking. Loreen who would have already hated her more than she loved her initially. Canya's pain was a huge source of her pleasure. Even when she walked out of the class, Canya hardly noticed.

"Gods, what did I do?" Canya cried as she looked up to 'look' at the gods.

She was now alone in class, a fact that she was completely oblivious of. Nobody was in but she felt like there were hundreds of people surrounding her. A call would have assuaged the pain she was currently in, but her head was too full to think of calling him. As she suffered, he was currently on Catherine's vehicle on their way to a place they did not know.

While Catherine's power only lay on finding treasures, Jane to an extent was Eddie's treasure, she would find her albeit with a lot of difficulty. After all, her power could only work best for materials, not people.

"Eddie, why did you break up with Jane? She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen?" Catherine asked as she sped to a certain direction.

"Why is that important? I am only finding her because I do not want something to happen to her."

"Eddie, the magic I have cannot actually trace humans." Catherine gave a smile as she looked at Eddie affectionately, "The only reason why it barely works in this occasion is because of three reasons. One, you two are pretty much in love. Two, she is concealed by magic and anything concealed by magic is always open to us. Three, which is actually the main reason, she is a love girl. I do not exactly know what that is but in the magical realm, we the finders can actually trace them."

"Catherine, when she left, she clearly stated that she was not comfortable with me and nothing could work between us, why do you say we are in love?" The fact that Jane was a love girl was of least importance to him. What he cared about was the first reason Catherine had talked about.

"Eddie, the first reason I told you is because I can feel her soul and in doing so, I can feel little of her pain. Eddie, her heart aches, just like yours. The foundation of her powers lies in her heart and the warning message she sent, was only successful because she loves you. After all, she can only send it to the people she loves. If she gave up on you, it was because she was compelled to do so." Catherine patiently explained.

Eddie did not want to be optimistic but was excited to hear Catherine's explanation. As she drove to that direction, he blankly stared at the sky through the window. His thoughts were only for himself and Catherine knew better than to interrupt.

"We are here." Catherine's voice sounded snapping him out of his own thoughts.

She had stopped before a large cave near a lake. The cave was in the midst of a vast and lush vegetation giving the surrounding a slightly chilly air. She indicated that they needed to get into the cave. He did not even give it a second thought when he rushed to the entrance. Catherine had to swallow the further instructions she had.

They found themselves in a dark long tunnel which took them about fifteen minutes to cover. On its walls, cold water seeped appearing like beads of perspiration on one's forehead. This made the passage extremely cold making their teeth chatter as they tried their best to cover their bodies with their hands in an attempt to ward off the cold. When they finally saw light at the end of the tunnel, they hurried their footsteps until they went through an entrance. The entrance had led them to a hall.

The hall had beautiful mats spread across the entire floor. On the walls were torches which were now dead for light came to the hall through a large circular hole on the roof. There were about twenty women clad in green sitting cross-legged on the mats facing the direction of a raised platform in front. Before a lectern stood a middle-aged woman in white. Beside her was a young woman, the most beautiful woman Eddie had ever seen.

When the two ladies on the platform saw Eddie and Catherine come in, their jaws dropped and the middle-aged woman even trembled in fear.
