Chapter 13 - Chapter Thirteen

Eddie wanted to go back to his painting room to start working on the shoes but he remembered that he was to go to the school hall and listen to Professor Andrew, one of the contestants to the university presidency seat. The incumbent was retiring and his successor was to be nominated. One had to be nominated by the institution's senate. The senate consisted of some lecturers and a few student leaders.

After the senate had decided on the best candidates, they would be pitched to the students who would then decide through a secret ballot who was to be the president. After the winner was found, he or she would be sworn in by Woodland's emperor.  Professor Andrew was one of the candidates and he had organized a meeting with the students to share his manifesto. The time was almost and Eddie had completely forgotten about it. He went to the bathroom and cleaned himself before leaving.

As soon as he got to the door to his house, he got Catherine standing on his doorsteps, her eyes shining brightly upon seeing him. She was also one of his friends from the fashion department.

"I thought you would be attending Professor Andrew's rally, what are you doing here?" Eddie asked.

"The professor finished his rally an hour ago, didn't he make it clear in his fliers." Catherine looked at Eddie as if looking at a lost fellow.

Eddie retrieved a flier from his storage wristlet to confirm what she had just said only to realize that she was right. "I got caught up in my things and when I was finished, I thought I would still make it. Come on in, Catherine. Don't be standing at my door like a stranger."

"Eddie," Catherine frowned, "Have you forgotten about the materials? We were to go there this evening." It is at this time that he remembered he had agreed to go to a fabrics shop this evening with her.

"I am sorry, Catherine. I am actually ready; can we leave now?" Catherine gave a slow nod.

Catherine was a Fashion and Design student in her third year just like Eddie was. She was also the students' organizing secretary. She had met Eddie in her second year through Jack. She was one of Jack's best friends and when Eddie told him that he wanted a friend from the fashion department, Jack had immediately recommended Catherine and organized a meeting for the two of them. While she was a students' leader who meeting was not that easy, Jack was close to her making things easy.

After they met, Eddie shared the dreams he had as a footwear designer. She also shared hers as a fashion designer and they realized their dreams were aligned. They had agreed to start a fashion industry together when they were both ready. It had taken time to get ready due to their responsibilities but when the year started, they finally found out that they were both ready.

A week ago, they found a building they could use for their production and distribution. They had paid for the sum needed for rent and bought a few machines they would use. They had agreed that today, they would visit a fabric store to buy materials. He had been bombarded with his thoughts, so much that he had completely forgotten about their agreement. After they walked from the apartment, they quickly boarded her car which she had packed at the entrance. She wasted no second as she started the flying vehicle towards the central parts of Noya city.

Noya which was Woodland's capital was a place where everyone wanted to be. Its magnificent skyline attracted many people from all corners of the world, making it one of the world's largest tourists' hubs. It bustled with people twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Businesses never closed here making it one of the most productive cities in Woodland.

At this moment, a young man and a young woman were seated in a vehicle which like many similar vehicles navigated their way through the tallness of the skyscrapers. Among the vehicles were also flying beasts which had people riding on them. They alongside the people walking in the streets gave chaos to the still city. The chaos however harmonized with the quietness of the infrastructure to give the city an unfathomable charm.

The young man and woman descended when they were just above a large building that stood close to one thousand, five hundred feet above the ground. They packed their vehicle where several others were before walking to the building's entrance. It had a baronial 'The Fabrics Center' inscribed above it seemingly welcoming its visitors.
