Five years later...
Yiu Chunxiu returned to her homeland, after five whole years. She just got off the airplane and headed towards the receiving area.
After giving birth to her son, she devoted herself in studying medicine, rarely giving herself a break. This was the only way to repent the shameful behavior she had done.
When her son turned one year old, he was spent back into the country with her mother, Wang Liming, so she could focused on her studies. She would just occasionally talked her son through video calls and just like what her mother had said before, the men of their family became too fond of her son.
As soon as she got out, she saw her four-year old baby with her third elder brother. Yuntian, her son, reminded her of Gao Yishen. They looked like each other so much. Sometimes she felt scared that her family might found out about her secret, that it wasn't a nobody who impregnated her.
Delighted, she ran towards them, hugged and lifted her baby, "Did you miss mommy?" She asked and kissed him in his soft and fluffy cheeks.
Tears started to formed in little baby's eyes, he clanged his arms in her neck. He nodded while trying to hold his tears.
Although they were separated for years, her mother brought Yuntian at States during holidays and sometimes her third elder brother brought Yuntian when he had a business to settle in States.
Now, they would be able to live in the same house again. She finally had more time to spent with her son.
She hugged Yuntian tightly, she would never be parted with her son again!
Yiu Chunxiu glanced at her third elder brother who was looking at them helplessly. He carried her luggages, "Let's go now."
As they were heading outside the airport, Yiu Chunxiu noticed a number of girls stealing glances to his brother.
In the past five years, his brother's company rose to the top, he was even added into the Forbes Top 50 riches people in China. Her third elder brother was only two years older than her yet he was so successful in life. Aside from being successful, her brother has a handsome features, partnered with his charming personality, no girl would resist him.
"Have father informed you?" Yiu Chaun asked.
Yiu Chunxiu was gave her brother a confused look but later remembered about the dinner later, "We're having a dinner with Zuo family, right?"
Yiu Chaun gave her a dejected look, "You don't really have to marry the man father arranged for you."
She smiled faintly, "It's my duty as a lady of Yiu Family, and it's hard to find a man who will marry who will accept a woman who already has a child. Since father found one, I'll gladly marry him."
That was a lie.
Until now she was regretting her decision to take arts instead of medicine. She regretted meeting that guy. However, if it wasn't for him, there would be no Yuntian; she wouldn't experience falling in love; she wouldn't enjoy her life like those days. Even if she was regretting everything, she was thankful to it.
In her heart there was only one man she would be happy to marry. Even though she buried herself in studies, she still wasn't able to forget him. Her heart still beat and ached for him. It seemed that he would be the only man she would love in her whole life and it caused her to feel grief every time she thought of it.
When the three of them got home, the whole family welcomed Yiu Chunxiu. Although they were displeased with her before, when they met Yuntian their cold heart melted for the baby.
All of this was because Yuntian was a brilliant and adorable kid. At the age of four, he could already speak to her in both English and Chinese fluently. He also started learning piano when he turned four and quickly picked up everything that was taught by his piano teacher. He learned things too fast that kids in his age can't kept up with him. He became the pride of the Yiu family.
While unpacking her things, somebody knocked in her door. When she opened it, she was surprised to see her father.
"Father," she greeted and lowered her head.
"Let's have an afternoon tea at the garden," Yiu Julong said and left.
Yiu Chunxiu followed her father in the garden.
Five years have passed and a lot of things had changed. Even their garden have more flowers in it, before Chinese medicine herbs dominated the garden.
She saw several sweets and two cups of tea in the table as they reached the table in the corner of the garden.
She sat in a chair opposite to her father and pour a tea in of their cups.
There were not facing each other, instead the were facing the whole garden and the blue sky. Yiu Chunxiu was waiting for her father to speak but he hasn't said anything. He just silently drink his tea so she did the same while casually eating some sweets.
Few moments later, he spoke calmly which she didn't expect, "Zuo Haoyang.." He paused then continued, "He's a very nice and brilliant kid. He rose through ranks quickly and became second lieutenant at the age of 27." Then he smiled genuinely.
Yiu Chunxiu felt overwhelmed. For the first time in five years, she finally saw her father smile again when talking to her. She was happy, it felt as if her father loved her again.
He continued, "He may be serious and stiff but his feelings were earnest. When it reached to him that I was looking for a suitable husband for you, he volunteered to marry you even if you already have a kid. It turns out that ever since you were kids he already fell for you!" His father laughed boisterously.
"You know that their family is stationed in H Province, right?" Yiu Chunxiu nodded, "When you get married, you'll have to move their with my little grandson," he said emotionally.
And it hit her, even though it will still take some time, she was finally going marry, not the man she loved but the one her father arranged for her.
She suddenly felt that the chain that bound her heart was constricting more. She didn't know if she can take anymore.
Unconsciously, tears slowly moisten her eyes. She was shocked when she realized it, why she wanted to cry?
Her father looked at her puzzled, "What's wrong? Don't you want to marry Haoyang?"
What should she tell her father? If she told him yes, would that change everything?
In the end she found an excuse. She wiped her tears using her hands, "Father, I'm not yet married but your speaking as if I'm going to leave the house and family now."
Yiu Julong smiled with a hint of sadness, "I'm just a little sentimental that I'm going to let my daughter go with another man."
This was where she realized that there was no turning back anymore.
Seeing her family happy for her she couldn't give them disappoint them again, could she?
