Chapter 135 - What's Your Motive? (Part 2)

Song Xia cursed in her mind, 'I shouldn't have fooled him! It really backfired!'

She shouted, her voice growing weaker. "Tang Yan.. Please.. Help me.."

She looked at his unwavering back and couldn't help but droop her head.

'Karma is really a bish.'

A shadow suddenly fell on her. She looked up and smiled awkwardly. "I sprained my ankle, hehe.."

Tang Yan had a deep frown in his face. But he still bent down and picked her up.

Song Xia was surprised but subconsciously wrapped her arms around his neck so that she won't fall.

Tang Yan froze, then stiffly walked ahead and put her down on the couch.

He knelt beside her and looked at her swollen ankle, his eyes softening.

"I'll get you some ice." He stood up and went to fetch an ice bag. Song Xia smiled at his back. 'He's a caring brother..'

Tang Yan, who didn't know that he was bro-zoned, knelt beside the couch and put the ice bag over the swollen part.

"ssh-" Song Xia sucked in a cold breath. She muttered softly, "Gentle, be more gentle.."

Tang Yan had the urge to laugh at her. He chuckled but his actions became much gentler.

He then wrapped her ankle with a bandage. After that, he sternly said, "Rest well and don't walk. It'll worsen your sprain.."

"Are you going somewhere?" Song Xia asked.

Tang Yan shook his head in confusion, "Why?"

"Perfect. Then take care of me." Ungrateful Song Xia lazily lied on the couch and ordered him.

"..."

Forget about being grateful; this girl was treating him as her lackey who was at her beck and call!

Tang Yan was so pissed off that he smiled, "You take me for granted, don't you? One day, you'll regret not treating me better!"

His words were full of rejection but his body said otherwise. He sat down on the floor beside her and stared at her, "Sleep."

"I'm not sleepy." Song Xia looked back at him with clear eyes. "Why don't you tell me a bedtime story? Or sing me a lullaby?"

Dark lines formed in Tang Yan's forehead. "Are you 3 years old? Or 23 years old, huh? Why do you still need someone to tell you bedtime stories!?"

"I'm 22." Song Xia seriously corrected.

"..Isn't 22 and 23 the same?!"

She shook her head matter-of-factly, "No."

22 and 23 weren't the same.

"..Whatever! Why is your focus on something else! I'm saying, why do you need to hear bedtime story?!"

"Because I can't sleep."

"...!!" Tang Yan's face was dark. He stood up, "It seems you don't need my company anymore."

Song Xia immediately grabbed his leg and obediently said, "Don't go! I'm starting to feel sleepy suddenly!"

She even yawned to prove it.

Tang Yan's lips curled up subconsciously. He sat down face to face to her and folded his arms.

"Then sleep."

"..Can you pass me my phone once?"

"No, you need rest."

"..."

Song Xia sighed helplessly as she admitted defeat and closed her eyes shut. Tang Yan stared at her silently.

Moments later, her eyelashes fluttered. Tang Yan facepalmed, "What are you doing? I can clearly see that you're not sleeping!"

Song Xia opened her clear eyes without any hints of sleepiness in them. "What do I do? I can't fall asleep!"

She shifted her body, facing his side. Blinking her eyes, she spoke, "Tang Yan.. Talk to me."

Tang Yan sighed. "Alright. What do you want to talk about?"

Song Xia pondered for a while before she hesitantly asked, "That day.. Did you guys find me near a cliff?"

"?" Tang Yan was confused. "What are you talking about?"

She pursed her lips then shifted her body to face the ceiling, "That day.. My car accident.."

Tang Yan finally realized what she was talking about. "Yeah.. Wait no, we did find you but it was not near any cliff.."

He seemed to have recalled something and he fell silent. His eyes were glistening.

Song Xia also didn't say anything for a while before she abruptly turned to look at him, "What did you just say!?"

"What?..We didn't find you near a cliff?" Tang Yan repeated his words.

Song Xia creased her brows, mumbling to herself, "Strange.. But they said my car was near the cliff.."

She changed her tone and asked carefully, "Was I inside the car or.. outside?"

Tang Yan's mouth twitched a little.

"Of course, you were inside the car! I even found your broken phone there! Remember I repaired it and gave it to you?"

Song Xia frowned.

Tang Yan and Ellen found her inside the car but not near a cliff but then the police found her car near a cliff?

How was it possible?

She wanted to solve the whole incident's mystery, but the knots in her head were getting more and more entangled.

"Did you and Ellen dispose my car near a cliff then?"

Tang Yan seemed to be pondering deeply, which made her feel slightly nervous. She then heard him say firmly, "No."

"We didn't do anything to the car as we were in a hurry for your treatment."

Song Xia's heart skipped a beat.

Then.. how did her car end up there? Did someone else.. alter the accident scene?

Tang Yan noticed her frowning face and sighed exasperatedly.

"By the way, why are you even thinking about that right now? Close your eyes and go to sleep quickly."

Song Xia ignored his words and asked, "Who do you think.. is behind my accident?"

"Are you listening.." Tang Yan paused when he heard her words.

He narrowed his eyes, "Behind your accident? You suspect that someone wanted to.."

"Yeah. The points are too suspicious." Song Xia sensed his confusion and slowly explained everything she knew to him.

..

"So, someone intentionally messed with the accident site.. And they even planned your accident?"

"Also, that someone is.. your older brother?" Tang Yan was shocked when he heard her conjecture.

"Mmh." A light flashed in her eyes. "But I'm not sure about it.. just yet."

Her face appeared unexpectedly tranquil and calm. It was as if it was the calm before the storm.

Though Tang Yan couldn't see it, he could feel her tense emotions.

He quietly asked her, "Why do you think that it's him?"

He didn't underestimate that lunatic, but could he really degrade to such an extent that he'd harm his own sister?

Song Xia turned to face the ceiling again, her gaze slightly hazy and unfocused, as if she was in a daze. She slowly muttered.

"I don't know."
