Chapter 97 - You'll Be Late, Big Boss

It was almost 1AM when Ren finally arrived home. The lights inside the apartment had been switched off. The only source of light was coming from the full moon outside the glass windows.

Ren quietly entered his home. Even though Tsubaki had been sleeping for a few hours already, he still didn't dare to make a sound when moving. He directly went upstairs to their bedroom.

Opening the door slowly, Ren landed his gaze on the sleeping woman in the king sized bed. His eyes softened. She was sleeping soundly like a baby. Her body curled up facing his side of the bed. Her soft hands were holding the edge of his pillow.

Ren quickly washed up and got in the bed. He was just pulling the comforter to cover him as well when Tsubaki rolling to get closer to him. Her hands were patting on the bed until they found his body. Ren chuckled softly.

"Are you awake?"

There was no answer.

Ren smiled adoringly to his sleeping wife. She was clearly asleep yet the moment he laid on bed, she instinctively moved to his side. Such a simple action yet it brought warm to his heart.

"Sleep well, love."

Hugging her tiny waist, Ren tangled his legs over hers. He gently stroke her head while the other hand rubbed lazy circles on her back. The feeling of her warm breath on his neck made him thought that it was good to be home.

Earlier, when Akashi messaged him that Ieda Aimei had put drug in his wine glass, his heart turned extremely cold. He had always met this kind of situation. Women would try anything to climb to his bed yet he would always refuse their advances.

If they did it in respectable ways, he could politely turn then down. But most of them would resort to such cheap tactics that made him felt disgusted to the core. Ieda Aimei was one of them.

Even though Akashi didn't warn him, he would always change his glass if he left it unattended even for a moment. He didn't want to let his guard down. A second of carelessness could gravely cost him.

Ren shook his head. He wanted to stop thinking about it. Toshiro and Akashi would handle it for him. Right now, he would just indulge himself by being able to embrace this little lady.

"I love you, sweetheart."

Leaning down, he placed a soft kiss in between her eyebrows. Tsubaki unconsciously tightened her hold on his pajamas. A slight smile appeared on her face. Both of them slept comfortably till dawn came.

Morning.

"So, you'd be busy till tonight?" Ren turned around to face his wife. Seeing her in a light yellow outfit made him thought of a sunflower.

"Yes, hubby. And you're busy too today, right?" Tsubaki nodded. She reached out to tidy the slightly crooked tie around her husband's collar. Her deft fingers quickly tying up the tie properly before she pressed the lapels of his suit.

Both of them were still seated in Ren's Audi Q7. Outside the car, pedestrians were walking back and forth the street. Some of them stop to have their morning coffee from Camellia Sweets while the others went about their own business. The street was particularly bustling with people since the morning began.

"Yes." Ren smiled yet it didn't reach his eyes. He wasn't being truthful if he said he wasn't nervous over today's events. "I'm not directly involved with the meeting but I still have things to do at the office."

Tsubaki didn't ask further, she just smiled in understanding. She didn't understand much about what would happen today but she at least knew that her husband had been tensed over the matter for a few days already. He worked till late at night and he was always on the phone whenever he could.

She could only pray that everything would go well for him.

"Share the news with me, okay?" Tsubaki unbuckled her seat belt. She grabbed her tote bag from the back seat before turning to face her husband again. "I'll prepare something special if you bring good news to me."

Ren chuckled, his voice was low and calm. He leaned towards her and peck her lips. "I'll be sure to bring good news later. Have faith in your husband, will you?"

Her lips curved up. Tsubaki held his cheeks and gently return his peck. "You know that I'll always have faith in you."

Ren was lovestruck when he saw how her eyes brightened. He wanted to kiss her yet Tsubaki quickly placed her palms over his lips. She giggled as he frowned in displeasure. Ren held her hands, wanting to remove them from his face yet she remained adamant.

"You'll be late, Big Boss. Don't damage your own reputation, will you?" A hint of mischief glinted in her eyes. "See you later honey!"

Tsubaki retracted her palms from Ren's face before she swiftly kissed him. Ren was dumbfounded as his dainty wife had slipped away from his hands the moment he reacted. She had exited the car!

How cunning!

"I'll ask Hibiki to come and pick your lunch box later!" Tsubaki said from outside the car. She happily waved at him. "Don't miss me too much!"

Laughter escaped his lips seeing how cheeky his wife looked right now. "Have a nice day, love. I'll call you later." Ren waved her back.

After he saw her safely entering the bakery, he started the car to get to the company. Hibiki had been waiting for him. There was no trouble at Wada Tatsuya's side but he still needed to be careful. In less than 10 minutes, the meeting would start. The representative from Fuse Corporation should arrive soon. Matsuzaki was the one who accompanied Vice President Kuroda who acted on his behalf.

"Master!" Hibiki ran to him once he stepped out of the private elevator. His face was tensed.

"What's wrong?" Ren could sense that it wasn't due to the meeting.

A few of his subordinates who worked in his floor were eyeing them both. Their interests were piqued as Hibiki rarely showed a tensed expression. Ren signaled him with his eyes to wait until they reached his office. Hibiki nodded solemnly. They quickly made way to the President's office.

Once they were in the privacy of Ren's office, Ren looked at Hibiki briefly before walking towards his work table. He raised his eyebrows, asking him what was wrong.

Hibiki was silent, trying to find better words until he decided to speak the truth.

"Something has happened in Summer City Hotel's construction site. You need to be there immediately, Master."

Ren paused his steps. He turned around. "What happened?"

Seemed like today won't end in a good note.
