Chapter 1 - Just the Beginning

If someone were to ask me what my first memory was it would defiantly be when my soul was being reconstructed, weird right. To be honest the same could be said for every human born on earth. After the enlightenment all existing souls immediately returned to their origin, dead souls reincarnated or reconstructed like me. Research has shown that there were a finite amount of souls that ever existed on the earth reaching a measly 3 billion. The increase and decrease of population occurred when in the beginning souls were being created and when the planet reached its limit the existing souls ripped themselves apart in order to gain as much experience as possible.

While I say reconstruction was my first memory it wouldn't hold a candle to my lifetimes of human experience from being an Egyptian baker to a 21st century programmer. During the enlightenment all souls that were split became one resulting in the fixed population of 3 billion.

Currently I'm sitting in my space. Humanity's secondary innate ability, it's pretty neat as I can morph it into anything I want, which is good considering I live here. At heart I'm a 21st century gal, I feel connected to that era. I do spice it up every now and again, but it takes concentration to maintain forms within my space. The weather depends on my mood however, right now I'm supposed to be concentrating which is evident as I'm floating near a workbench in inky blackness.

I take a deep breath and pray to the god that isn't up their as a press the final button in my system. Holding in a breath I close my eyes in expectation, after a few moments I hear clicking noises followed by a satisfactory ring.

"YESSSS" I squeal out loud.

My mind was screaming with happiness as fictional tears streamed down my face. I was preparing to go off world and one of the requirements was to have a system, a back up brain. When I was reborn I was in a blank body floating in my space. Instinctively I moulded myself into my true form, a Latino with a golden afro and matching eyes, with an below average height.

The only time we use our physical bodies however is in our space, time doesn't flow within the space so the it doesn't age which is good as when the body fails the soul is vulnerable, it can be revived if a part of the body exists, thankfully. Our physical bodies can't withstand the earths mana as the earth is situated in a universal gateway, absorbing the dormant atoms since birth giving it an abundant amount of energy after enlightenment. When roaming the planet soul form is used making the earth look like a ghost world, not like we get much visitors anyway.

With the system when using an avatar off world, it helps make send messages to and from the archive making data collection much easier. In that sense we are very privileged. It helps to know if there are any other races playing god on other planets as we would have to get some info on their race, customs and whether or not they're hostile.

If a human from earth ever became a self-proclaimed god they are banned access from the archive and left only with their system and space. Never welcome to cross the threshold of earth. Global law doesn't allow us to take another planet because we don't need it, when they proclaim themselves as ruler of another the earth itself rejects the person to the extent of recreating new souls to take their place. They renounce their citizenship as an earthling. We call the new souls new gens as they take about 15 years to mature with a connection to the archive and also the fact they are the first generation after the enlightenment.

I turned my attention back to my system. A black cube greeted me. I immediately created a blank avatar and clipped the system to the side of its skull, watching it quickly be absorbed. I briefly created a mind-link making sure everything was okay, which it was and immediately stored the body away.

I turned my attention back to my work bench and began making a link from my system to the archive via the space. My space can contain portals, more experience means more portals. I can currently sustain 5 given that I have at least 500 years of earthen experience.

Once I made sure everything was good I flashed out of my space. The sight that greeted me never ceased to amaze me. I decided to place my Space home in the jewel of the world, Diamond City. Its famous for its buildings made of pure diamond. A trophy for triumphing over global warming. Scientists extracted pure carbon that was cluttering the atmosphere and made it into diamonds reminding the rest of humanity of their feat.

Even though I was looking at a hologram, I could still see the real city if I wanted to, it was in a space of its own and I could view it with my physical body truly taking in the experience. While gathering information is efficient in soul form it doesn't really give it any depth that a physical body can provide.

I looked down at my golden soul form, the colour matching my eyes. They say with more experience the soul colour matures and grows complex. Mine is currently just a standard gold, like many other newbie earthlings. Gathering some energy I began to race over the face of the earth, drinking in the speed and what would be the rush of adrenaline. My sights were set on the capital of earth. Phoenix city, meant to symbolise the rebirth of humanity, and the place where the archive formed.

Upon reaching the city I went straight to the centre where a giant ball of knowledge greeted me. I could feel its power reverberating through my soul. I closed my eyes and directly linked myself to this ball of info. I was given immediate acceptance to browse through different planet profiles as my system was just built. The worlds have difficulty tiers. Ranging from simply laying a good foundation of personal knowledge to stealing the holy grail from under the noses of fake gods. We can do so with no remorse as we are a neutral world, given a task by the universe itself, unlike those warlike races who became universal citizens through sheer force

I browsed through some exotic planets before finding a mixed race planet, a world where multiple races are dominant usually the result of outside interference. Several gods ruled over this particular planet, resulting in an abundance of magical knowledge. A great place for a tech earthling like me as our planet is geared towards tech and not magic as we were one of the few worlds that were simply allowed to grow. We have yet to find unruled planets like ours, surprisingly.

I immediately opted to go for a peaceful looking world called Kellvela, a world known for its magical artefacts. Thankfully there was plenty of info to gather as they were going through a transition period, or better yet a learning curve.

I immediately saved its coordinates to my space creating a direct portal. I prepared my body before leaving, leaving it as a standard human for the time being. I gave it the innate ability to shape shift because why not?

Flashing into my space I was excited for the first step of my adventure, I looked at the portal with a confident gaze, Nothing could go wrong, right?
