Chapter 12 - Food

The teacher in front of him was fighting with all she had against the demonic beast. His breathing was getting slower and slower as his vision was beginning to blur. (Heh, to think that even Sana struggle with that damn pig).

The two of them seemed to be equally matched in terms of strength and agility. With the beast having four legs to move around, its movements set was wildly different from that of a human being. An inexperienced hunter will without a doubt, failing to overcome such a monster.

"Tch! Even at my level, I can't find an opening at all."

Sana glanced back at Sein who was getting weaker and weaker for a quick moment (Shit!).

The demonic beast took advantage of it without thinking further and charged head-on against her.

*crack

Sana was pushed back by the force from the demonic beast. Luckily she was quick-witted to cross her arms against the heavy headbutt, though some of the horns managed to penetrate them and ruptured the bones. She stood up with her arms dangling down before she spat out the blood from her mouth.

Sein looked worried as he saw the blue region that appeared swollen on her arms.

"Run, get away from there, teacher."

His voice was getting weaker before he bit his tongue to keep himself from losing consciousness. (Why, why would you go that far, even when we only met for just two days).

"What a dumb student that I have, of course, I will not leave you here, it's my duty as a teacher to get you back to safety."

Sana's eyes turned sharp as she raised her wiggly arms together like a boxing stance. Her hands were shaky but her stand was determined.

"Haaaah!"

She punched the air in front of her with a clapping sound before she immediately gritted her teeth.

*crack

To Sein's surprise, he saw what the unthinkable happen. One of the demonic beast's horn suddenly broke and fell off. (Wh-what's happening?). He knew the distance between the demonic beast and his teacher was quite fair but he saw nothing but her punching an air.

*squeal

The demonic beast suddenly took one step back as its tail was wiggling nonstop. There was a look of worry on its face as it saw the grin look on the woman in front of it.

"Hehe, don't you dare underestimate Sana Yuin."

She put out a smile as a pair of dimples were visible on her face. Her right arm was already down dripping with the blood but her left was still guarding her face.

"A-amazing."

The word escaped out of his mouth as he saw the frightening look of the demonic beast. Finally, they got momentum from the fight. With one of its horns missing, it would be at a disadvantage, not to mention the main weapon but the balance also affected.

The demonic beast let out a hot breath as it scratched the ground with its hooves. It was squealing nonstop as if it was fuming with anger. However, just as soon as it's about to charge ahead, a blow of wind suddenly broke another horn of its, leaving the right side of its face empty of the said weapons.

"Hahaha, now what, you can't even stand up straight."

Sana who was having both of her arms wasted for the strikes she made, kept taunting the demonic beast to charge.

"If you don't come here, then I will come to you!"

Sana suddenly made a run toward the demonic beast before the later did the same thing. With the imbalance the demonic beast was having, She could easily evade the charge before tackling its hooves. Not sparing a second to waste, she proceeded with a hammer kick, breaking its neck thus ending the life of the demonic beast.

She finally took a deep breath of fresh air before walking toward the reason she came here in the first place. "I hope you know what kind of punishment awaits you."

Sein smiled, "I know, you are really incred- LOOK OUT!"

"Huh?"

Before she managed to turn around, she could feel a push from her spine.

"Aaah!"

Sana was propelled forward before landing right beside him. Her eyes were shut but he could see faint breathing rhythm from her nose.

"Shit, why are there two of you?!"

He glanced at another similar demonic beast standing beside the dead one. It grinned and let out a ferocity just like the former. It scratched the ground with a slower rhythm as if it was taking its time.

His pupils were shrunken as he saw revealing silhouettes behind the demonic beast. One by one, it stood beside the original and the dead one. It was a group of demonic beast, a swarm. He couldn't count how many were there exactly but only one thing was certain and that was death.

One of them suddenly charged toward Sein who was still conscious.

"Heh, I guess it is inevitable."

Sein didn't even look at the demonic beast charging toward him but the woman who was desperately saving him. (Sorry, teacher, if only I..).

"I see that you wish for death!"

The shout woke him up from his thought before he saw a fist penetrated the demonic beast's stomach as it was launched away to the east.

"Grandpa!"

"Wait there Sein, us old men will take care of, my god that's a whole swarm."

Old Jing was surprised by the sheer number he was facing. From the left to the right, he saw the demonic beasts were grinning at them. Their sharp fangs were on display as some of them started scratching the ground.

"Hmm, she passed out."

Sein looked at the familiar old man that he met in the school. (The principal and the village chief, so this was the help she was talking about).

"We can't outrun them while carrying these two, so we must kill the majority of them to scare the rest, though I would expect some broken bones in the process."

Old Jing was as valiant as ever before readied his stance toward the swarm with a calm attitude.

"No, I got a better idea, Jing you will stay here as their food."

Hama suddenly thrust a sword from behind through his heart. The blood sprayed the dancing grass on the ground as Sein's heart instantly froze.
