Chapter 31 - The dictatorship of Black Spawn

'This damn lunatic!'

They looked at the youth who had been a thorn to their sides with pity. They had the right to think as such, in all honesty. When has it ever been recorded that a mortal dares to content against a powerful cultivator?

If one merely suggested such a thing, they would be mocked with lunacy and ostracized from the community.

Taf looked around to see the faces looking at him like a darn fool. He did not mind. Taf wanted his words to be repeated to the man who had claimed top dog position.

"It seems I have been talking gibberish, and our languages could not be further apart by your seeming deaf ears. My hammers might be a better means of communication. I guess they will have to be my interpreters. Don't worry; they are world-class, and this is their field of expertise since no one understands."

Hearing the Mouse's words, everyone returned to reality and hastily agreed.

"Since sir Mouse says it is so, we will deliver the message without a missing word."

Someone hastily agreed while bowing her head to the floor. Where she had already collapsed due to the pain from the previous battle.

"That's what I like hearing. You young lady will not receive such a bad beating on my next visit. You will receive a beating, so don't get me wrong, but not so bad."

Taf grinned as he inspected the young girl before him while patting her shoulders.

"Well, goodbyes are in order, so I'll be on my way. Remember to keep those pockets fat for my next visit."

A laugh was heard, and just as when he came, the Mouse disappeared in a flash.

A few hours later, in a gym to the city's west end. A man dressed in black sat on a chair in the middle of the room. Before him were the members of the Viper Gang, who had run into the Mouse earlier.

As the now sole leader, Gomorra spoke of their ordeal with the Mouse. She made sure to not leave any details out. In fact, she added even more fuel to the fire by stating some choice words that the Mouse left for the senior.

Gomorra recognized Taf was not totally at fault for what happened to Bishop. In fact, she blames this elder even more than the Mouse for his death. After all, he was the one that provided those vile pills.

Though she wanted vengeance, both were targets she had no hopes of contending with. If so, why not add more fuel to the fire and watch them burn. She would laugh no matter who it was that died in the end.

Someone had to pay for her lover's death. Then and only then will her love rest in peace.

"Interesting, this one named Mouse sure has the guts. I can't recall the last time someone was to dare to utter such insolence".

The elder dressed in black crushed the armrest, and his fury began to reach its boiling point. Wasn't this a bit absurd? Since when can a mere mortal dare to insult him, one with such an illustrious glow.

"From now on, I will be the one to deal with this Mouse personally. All of his movements should be reported to me right away. I want to know if he so much as steps in the streets. If someone were to even mention his name, I want to know."

Furious, the elder raged on,

"If there is a fart or cloud in the air that somehow takes his form and shape magically, I want to know. If you find yourself walking on the filthy streets and step on a mouse, it squeaks at you in pain; I want to fucking know about it! I hope I made myself clear on this matter."

Finally finished, he looked at the hundreds of people before him while he fumed and bellowed his instructions to the mass.

" All know my stance on disappointment. But if there is a need for your memories to be jolted, how about asking Salvar after joining him."

Β  Goosebumps filled the area as they stared into the elder's eyes. They had a foreboding whenever his gaze surveyed them.

"Sara, you will be in charge of relaying their observations to me."

Though a bit reluctant, Sara the redhead stood forward and bowed her head as she accepted her orders.

"Now, all of you get the hell out. Use a fine-tooth comb and search through the city for that wretch."

The room soon became emptied as they all hastily retreated in order not to bear the brunt of the senior's fury.

'You have the gall to oppose me, little worm. There has never been a mortal who has escaped the black spawn's clutches, and you certainly will not be the first.'

In Ming's restaurant, Taf was disclosing his ordeal on the streets.

Old Man Ming, of course, knew of his wrongdoing and even encouraged it as a means of training for the young lad.

"A cultivator in Marvel City, and he is after you, kiddo! He bloody exploded?!"

There were exclamations after another as all details were spoken by Taf. He became enthralled by these tales. After all, where could you find such entertainment as this in the city?

"Kiddo, it is unlike you to poke a bear for no reason and knowing you, there is something up your sleeves; I am not wrong, am I?"

A questioning look was given to Taf after old man Ming thought over the details.

"I indeed have a plan, so I am not that perturbed, to be honest."Taf winked, after which he childishly chuckled.

"This is not mere gangs you are fighting now; you understand it, right? I trained you to fight mortals, and that's where training ends, kiddo; this is a cultivator. Not even I have confidence in lasting a second. How can you be this confident in this child?"

The more old Ming thought about it, the further uneasy he became. This boy was like his own child. How could he watch him throw away his life?

"How about hiding out for a bit? You said there is no shame in hiding, right?"

Old Man Ming tried persuading him to think of a different path.

"You are wrong in thinking that the training was limited Old man Ming, as I see it in a different light. Taf uttered as he continued,

Β  You know my personality to constantly weigh the risk against the rewards. In fact, it has opened me to thinking of unlimited possibilities, and it so happens that defeating a cultivator has just been added. I will be fine, I promise."

Taf tried assuring Mr Ming as he saw the worry in the Old man's eyes. They soon wrapped up their conversation with Taf once again, reassuring old man Ming before sending him off.

'I guess now is the best time to visit senior Grace and brush up on my reading.

Hehe!

This is gonna be fun.'
