This story is largely set in China, and many of the characters bear Chinese names. Since these names lose a lot of meaning when they are romanized, I have listed all the major ones here with their general meanings.

Please note that Chinese names are written with the last name/family name first. For example, "Ai Jing" would be written "Jing Ai" in an English-speaking country.
