Seetha was devastated. She couldn't believe anything anymore.
Her brother Arun took some necessities and was about to leave.
He walked up to Seetha and told her, "Sis, get up." Arun helped her up by pulling her arm and made her sit on the sofa.
He knelt
before her and spoke gently, "Sis, there is nothing we can do now. Sorry for acting the way I did just now. I was stupid. Please forgive me!"
He turned to Arjun, "Arjun we are the one's at fault here. Not her! Its totally unreasonable to blame it on the person who had been missing for days now. We both let our idiocy get the better of us. Come and apologize to sis."
Arjun looked like he was betrayed. He shot a scornful look at Seetha and Arun, "They both got into an accident because they went looking for her! If it wasn't for her, they wouldn't have died." He spoke and ran upstairs.
"Don't mind him sis. He will get back to his senses very soon." Arun comforted.
Seetha still hung her head down and balled her fists. Arun continued, "I am going to stay with aunt for the night. She is admitted. I came back to get some necessities."
Seetha suddenly looked up with her eyes full of tears, "What happened to her? Can I accompany you?"
Arun scratched his head and said, "As you know already, aunt has a frail health. After all of the happenings in our home, her health started to fail her. Its nothing serious so don't worry sis. Its already night, visiting hours are over. According to that hospitals rule only one person is allowed to spend the night with the patient. So I can't take you. Come and visit her tomorrow. I am sure she will be very happy to see you back!"
Seetha nodded with a heavy heart and let him leave.
She turned to her mom and grandma and looked upstairs. She asked her mom to call Arjun down. When he came, she started to explain everything clearly.
As expected Arjun mocked her. But what surprised her the most was the reaction of her mom and grandma. They were least surprised when she told them that. Even Arjun was shocked at their reaction.
They both didn't say anything but just nodded and listened to everything that Seetha told them. Like they knew what was coming...
....
Arjun broke the silence, "What is with your reaction? Can't you both see that she is sprouting some nonsense?"
"Arjun stop it! Seetha you go up and rest we can speak tomorrow. You must be tired both emotionally and mentally. Go, get some rest." Her mom told her worriedly.
.....
"Mother, has the time come already..... for us to part with that child?" Seetha's mom wept silently.
Her grandma with her eyes full of tears, "It does seem that way..... the day that child will leave us has come after all!"
Arjun who came to fetch a glass of water suddenly overheard their conversation and was speechless. He didn't know how to react. He was dumbfound.
