Beep! Beep! Beep!
'It's now 8:30 a.m. of the 31st of October, year 31XX of the Solaris Calendar. Start your day in the best way with Aurora Light Coffee! Nothing says a great morning unlike Aurora Light Coffee!'
"Mmm..."
A man tossed and turned around his bed as his alarm went off. He tried to ignore the obnoxious advertisements from the alarm, yet he couldn't thanks to an algorithm in the alarm's technology.
Having no choice, the man turned the alarm off as he sat upright, rubbing off the morning dust in his eyes. He then got off his bed and tidied it up before doing some basic stretches for a short while.
Afterwards, the man went to the windows and opened the curtains, letting in sunlight into his cozy room. He wanted to look away from the light as it was blinding, but after multiple tests, he knew that staring at the sunlight for a bit would give him an awake mind for the day.
"Haaah..." the man yawned. He went to the bathroom to force his mind awake even further, and of course to clean his body.
"Shower mode: Haste."
The shower head that was just above the man's head instantly split into many smaller heads, heading towards different parts of the man's body. They then jetted out a stream of lukewarm water to which the man didn't care and continued cleaning his body.
"Hmm...what's for breakfast today..." the man muttered as he continued to clean. A light growl from his stomach could be heard as he said this.
After three minutes, the multiple shower heads converged back into one shower head. Not long after, a gust of hot air blew over the man's body, removing all the excess water as he wrapped his lower body with a towel.
The man then opened his closet and grabbed a plain gray tracksuit to wear. He then grabbed his holographic phone and picked a design that he wanted to wear for the day.
As if it was magic, the plain gray tracksuit turned into a red checkered polo and navy blue jeans within seconds. And with a snap of his fingers, two blobs of blue fluids covered the man's foot, hardening and forming into his shoes.
He then went towards the mirror and looked at himself.
The man had a decently handsome face. His hair was a mix of black and silver, while his eyes shone golden brown. A small scar in the shape of an X could be seen on his right cheek, giving his face a faint devilish feeling.
He looked at the mirror's top right corner and read the information.
[Name]: Dawn Luminaire
[Age]: 16 years old
[God Blood Seed Formation]: 14%
The man's name, as stated by the mirror, is Dawn Luminaire. A kid born into a modest family. But sadly, this family wasn't a family of Retracers.
Retracers are also known as the people who tread on the path of retracing their blood back to the common human ancestor, the Primordial Gods.
Becoming a Retracer would give the retracer's family many benefits and would allow them all to live a carefree life until death.
'But sadly, mom and dad hasn't awakened their god blood yet,' Dawn sighed at this thought.
Since all humans share a common ancestor, it would make sense that all humans can also become Retracers...as long as they put in the effort.
As far as what Dawn knew, before becoming a Retracer, the person should form their own God Blood Seed which would be the foundation of their retracing. Some would have a weaker seed while some would have a stronger one, but in the end, they're all bona fide Retracers.
Dawn's God Blood Seed was only 14% of the way from completion, he had a long way to go. "I'll do my best to awaken my god blood, so my parents can live a wonderful life!"
Concurrently, a voice could be heard a few meters away, as if it came from a lower floor.
"Dawn, come downstairs, breakfast is ready!"
"Coming!" Dawn replied with a shout as he tidied the creases on his clothes while going downstairs.
...
Dawn was greeted with a table filled to the brim with delicious food. Eggs that were tinted green, hard brown bacon that still had o oozing out, and some light red pancakes that had maple syrup on them. In an instant, Dawn salivated at the food, hurrying to take a seat.
This was a normal occurence for Dawn, as he was not born in Earth. He was born in the planet closest to Earth, Mars. Thanks to the colonization of the Retracers hundred of years ago, people in Mars can live the same life as those on Earth, albeit with some differences.
Dawn grabbed a spoon and fork and prepared to dig in, but was instantly stopped by a woman.
"Dawn. Wait for your father to come here before eating breakfast, okay?"
Dawn sighed as he looked at the woman that reprimanded him.
The woman was in her thirties, even though she looked like someone in her youthful twenties. Her hair was pure silver in hue, complementing her crimson red eyes. This combination gave anyone that mischievous feeling. This was Dawn's mother, Claudia Luminaire.
"Hahaha! Sorry kiddo, I didn't mean to delay your breakfast. Well since I'm here, let's eat!"
Dawn instantly smiled as he looked at the man with awe. "It's not a problem, Dad. Breakfast can wait."
Claudia raised her eyebrow as she looked at Dawn. "But you really wanted to eat breakfast?"
Dawn wryly chuckled at the statement, making the man chuckle a bit as well.
This man had a slightly bulky frame, combined with his pitch black hair and hazel eyes, made him look like some sort of military commander from the 21st century. Not only that, he also exuded an aura of a warrior, able to protect anything. This was Dawn's father, Jason Luminaire.
Claudia removed her apron and sat in front of the table, grabbing a fork and spoon as she looked at Jason and Dawn while smiling.
The two of them felt this stare and looked back at Claudia. Jason placed his fork and spoon down and asked, "What's wrong, honey?"
Claudia sliced off a small part of the bacon before putting it into her mouth. "Oh nothing. It just looks like you two are enjoying breakfast."
Dawn, who was still stuffing himself with food, nodded. "We are! Mom, you're definitely the best cook in the whole world!"
Jason chuckled and nodded as well. "Your son is right, you're definitely the best when it comes to cooking inside the Orion Preferecture."
Claudia smiled at their statements. "You two flatter me. Go, go and eat."
...
Around ten minutes later, Dawn remembered something. He looked at his dad and asked, "Dad, did you buy that book I told you?"
Jason, who was still eating, looked at Dawn and nodded. "The book about seed formation? Yeah, I got it." He then sighed.
"I only got it after showing my half-awakened god blood though."
Humans could be classified into three types: Those who haven't awakened their god blood, those who awakened their god blood by half, and those who awakened their god blood completely. Those who awakened their god blood by half are called Half-Awakened God Bloods, some even call them Pseudo-Retracers.
These people haven't completed their seed formation due to some sort of bottleneck, but they still have control over a wisp of their god blood, allowing them to do superhuman things. Jason was a Pseudo-Retracer.
Claudia frowned at Jason's statement and couldn't help but blurt out, "Honey, why do you still go to that store? They treat mortals like trash, you know?"
Dawn nodded as he continued to chew on his food.
Jason shrugged his shoulders at the thought. "Even though they treat mortals like trash, their prices are cheap compared to other stores. Anyways, we don't want to start the day off in a bad mood, now do we?"
He then looked at Dawn and said, "I'll give you the book once you come back from the academy."
Dawn nodded and then looked at his holographic phone. He saw that there was only ten minutes before 9 o'clock, making his eyes open wide. Dawn then hastily ate all the remaining food on his plate before proceeding to grab his school bag and kissing his parents on the cheek.
"Mom, Dad, I'm leaving for school now! See ya later!"
