Chapter 94 - Quick Visit

Before the day ends, Zoey received a text message from Leo.

Message: Z, if you have time please check Nickel. Thank you.

Zoey was confused by Leo's words. Why would she have to check on him? He is not in the city after all. Everyone thought or assumed that he went somewhere else. He doesn't usually tell anyone where he will go except Zoey but because of the kiss incident, Zoey thought that he is already done with her. She thought that after they shared one intimate act, Nickel lists his interest to her or something like that.

Zoey: Why?

Leo: What, why? Nickel is sick and he is alone.

Zoey couldn't hold herself, so she phoned Leo to clarify what he had said. It took him five rings before he answered her call.

"What do you mean he is sick and alone? Isn't he out for a business trip??" Zoey was really confused about what was happening. Someone said that he went on a business trip, others said that he took a leave and now Leo is told her that he just at home because he was sick. Which of them was right?

"I left him an hour ago. He has flu and severe fever. That is why I'm asking you to see him in case you are free." Zoey perfectly shaped eyebrows met from bewilderment.

The call didn't last for long because Leo excused himself as his wife is already calling him. You may say that Leo is under Shane's skirt because he will do whatever leases his wife. It is true that "Happy wife is a happy life" Perhaps, married life is a very complicated matter for Zoey right now.

Zoey bid goodbye to her staff and went out of the ASC building and when she bumped into May inside the elevator, May tried to invite her of a late night movie show.

"Are you free? Do you want to come with me and watch "Captain Marvel"? I've heard that if you won't watch this before Avengers: Endgame, you will be lost to what was happening." May is the type of person who will not be left out of the trend. Although she didn't know everything from Marvel Universe, her enthusiasm towards the franchise is at peak because everyone is talking about it. She even downloaded all the Marvel movies and will try to watch it chronologically just to catch up to the trendy topic.

In short, May has a FOMO, a mental and emotional strain caused by fear of missing out.

"I am but I have something to check first." She answered.

"Do it some other time. This is Captain Marvel, maybe they will tell how they can defeat Thanos. Come on Zoey, it's Thursday night. Pre-TGIF!" May is a very persuasive person, she still tries to convince Zoey to come with her but Zoey once again declined her because first, she thinks movies can wait but life won't. She better check on him first and makes sure that he is still alive in case Leo is telling her the truth. Second, she doesn't like the Marvel universe. Although she saw some of it, she still doesn't understand what is happening inside that universe. That is why she is certain in letting it pass and let May enjoy the movie by herself.

Zoey, later on, hailed a cab and after her usual travel time, she arrived Serenity Condominium in half an hour.

The guard on duty greeted her with delight, "Good evening Miss Zoey, you're early!" This guard is on night duty, so he always sees her arrive after nine every night or sometimes ten if it is their Quarter end closing week.

"Hahaha! Yeah! I'm actually starting my new life today." She jokingly replied.

Zoey reached her floor and went straight for her unit to drop her things and change to something comfortable and casual.

She doesn't actually know how she will face Nickel after everything, but she cannot stop worrying about him.

After deliberating with herself, Zoey went out of her room and rang Nickel's door. Of course, Nickel knows that it was Zoey because they are the only people occupying the floor itself.

Nickel still cannot move a muscle, so he just sends her a message the same as what he did to Leo this afternoon.

Zoey's phone vibrates on her pocket. She doesn't give attention to her phone because she thought it just a notification from any social media account that she has that she seldom to check, like her Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Zoey kept buzzing Nickel's doorbell and the guy inside also kept on messaging her; when Nickel's headaches from the sound it creates he decided to call her instead.

It took her four rings before she answers because she was to engross pressing the button.

"Zoey, please check your phone. You're giving me a headache from pressing that button." After that one line, Nickel hung up the phone.
