S University's grand hall.
The place was bustling with noise.
It was the orientation day for the freshmen and the energy was growing.
After listening to the ever-boring speech by the chancellor, the freshmen were hearded into small groups and taken on a campus tour. Because of the number of students and the number of destinations they had to go, it was rather time-consuming. By the time they had finished, it was already time for lunch.
To make sure that no freshmen left the campus, the fascillitators brought the freshmen to the cafeteria to have a taste of the school food.
"Excuse me, can we sit here?"
A group of girls walked over to Gun's table and casually sat on the empty seats around him. They batted their eyes at him, smiling prettily.
"Sorry, but these seats are taken," Gun raised his head, frowning. He placed down his phone before politely asking for the girls to sit elsewhere.
"H-huh?" The girls froze. They did not expect to be rejected by Gun. They had eyed him since earlier and Gun did not show any signs of being acquainted to anyone yet.
"Please move. My friends will be here soon."
Actually, those seats were reserved for Ha Jun and Da Na. They were all accepted into the same university and even the same faculty, so naturally they had made plans to sit together. Unfortunately, both of them had arrived late to the orientation and could only sit at the back, and they had also gotten into separate groups during the campus tour. Luckily, lunchtime was uniform among the groups.
Gun's group was the first to arrive in the cafeteria. There was going to be a lot of students crowding the place so he immediately bought his food and called dibs on the nearest empty table.
"Oh, okay..." The girls glanced at each other, reluctantly getting up. It was so awkward! Couldn't he have just let them sit there instead?! Now the girls had to shamefully move to a different table after getting rejected.
"Lee Gun!" Noh Ha Jun shouted over the noise. He held a tray of food in one hand and used his free hand to wave wildly at his friend.
"Over here!" Gun similarly waved his hand, hoping that Ha Jun saw him.
Thankfully, he did. Noticing his friend, Ha Jun broke into a wide smile and nudged the shorter girl beside him, whom he assumed was Da Na. They spoke briefly before sauntering to Gun.
"What's up, boyfriend?" Ha Jun playfully greeted.
Da Na kicked him, rolling her eyes, "Who's your boyfriend?"
"Ah, ouch...!" Ha Jun winced painfully, tottering on one leg to the seat in front of Gun. "Hey! Am I not right? Gun is male, who is my friend, so technically he is my boyfriend, am I right?" He bared his teeth at Da Na in faux-anger.
"Like hell he is," Da Na replied, kicking him again.
"Hey, I'll sue you for assault!"
"Go right ahead!"
Gun cracked a smile as he observed the two's interaction. It was amusing and entertaining to watch these two close friends get along so well.
The three chatted while they ate.
"Ah, that's right, what was all that about earlier? Did those girls hit on you?" Ha Jun suddenly looked at his friend.
"You saw that?" Gun grimaced. From the start of the day until now, girls kept creeping close to him for some odd reason. It was not just the freshmen, but there were also some seniors who had approached him.
"Well, too bad they didn't know he was taken," Ha Jun remarked, smiling suggestively at Da Na.
Da Na blushed, "Hey! What nonsense are you speaking?!" She whisper-yelled, kicking him under the table.
"What? Am I not right? Gun is clearly taken..." Ha Jun grinned playfully, "...by Yeo Ri!"
Da Na, realising that Ha Jun was not referring to her, blushed fiercely. "...Yeah! T-that's what I thought, too...!" She said in a fluster.
Ha Jun snickered loudly, happy that he successfully trolled Da Na.
"Gun-ah, I feel like your sister won't be happy if you get yourself a girlfriend," Ha Jun said. "She'd probably get jealous since you take such good care of her."
"I don't have any intentions of getting one," Gun blandly replied. "Yeo Ri is more than enough for me."
"Oooh~ how cool~" Ha Jun praised. "If only you weren't talking about your sister. Gun-ah, I think your sister complex is too strong."
"Imagine if Yeo Ri got a boyfriend..." Da Na muttered.
"No." Gun blurted. His face grew cold just from thinking about it. His baby sister was so pretty so she was popular with the boys. Talking about boyfriends, Hyuk's face flashed in his mind and Gun became even more infuriated. That d*mned b*stard...
"Yeo Ri is too young to date," he said in finality. His mood had became even worse after remembering about his baby sister and his brother. That day he found them in bed together had almost destroyed his rationality.
"Speaking of which, is Yeo Ri home alone right now?" Da Na asked, changing the subject. She noticed that Gun did not like talking about Yeo Ri's love life so she tactfully changed the subject.
As expected, Gun's mood became a little better. "No, she went to the hospital."
"Huh? Why? Is she sick somewhere?"
Gun shook his head, "No, she just went to visit a friend. I'll be picking her up after the welcoming party."
"Really? But the welcoming party ends really late, though? A senior I know told me that the freshmen welcoming party last year ended at 10 p.m. and the second round ended at midnight."
"Seriously?"
Gun wrinkled his brows. "That's bad. Is there a chance that I can skip it?"
"You could, but it's probably difficult. The seniors really like having you around. You know, eye candy and all."
Gun's frown deepened. He picked up his phone and texted Yeo Ri, telling her he might be late.
