The appointed time has arrived.
Hwang Se Jin sat in the cafe across his bar, waiting for a certain young boy. Since he had some free time prior to the meeting, he had arrived early.
The sound of the tinkling bells could be heard as the entrance door opened.
"Welcome," greeted the waitress.
Gun waved the woman off politely. He was not expecting to stay for very long so he didn't bother ordering anything.
"Oh, you're here," Hwang Se Jin flashed him a quick smile as he took a seat.
"How have you been, Se Jin-ssi?" Gun asked perfunctorily.
"I've been good. So, why did you want to meet up?"
"Se Jin-ssi, have you been listening to the bug?"
Hwang Se Jin straightened his posture. "Yeah, I have. There's not much I can hear though. Just some screaming and shouting about how he's going to kill you three when he gets his hands on you," Se Jin says, grimacing. "That's right, where did you even put the thing?"
"I see," Gun replied. "I hid it in his room. It was impossible to put the bug on him without being noticed, so..." Gun shrugged.
"Well, at least now we can add assault under his list of crimes." Se Jin scoffed, "as if it wasn't already there."
"Wait," Hwang Se Jin studied the boy in front of him suspiciously. "Are you asking me that because you haven't been keeping track of the recordings?"
Gun shook his head helplessly, "I haven't had the chance to. The last few days have been too hectic. We moved out of that house and we're in the middle of searching for somewhere to rent for the time being."
"What? Why?"
"You know why," Gun sighed tiredly. "And Yeo Ri looked like she would break if she spent another second in that house."
"Of course," Hwang Se Jin nodded understandingly. "If there's anything you need, just tell me, okay?"
"Thank you," Gun bowed his head politely. Though he appeared to have accepted his help, Gun actually had no intentions of taking up the offer.
"So what will you do now?"
"Wait, I suppose. I can't tail him since he keeps disappearing. I have no idea where his latest hideout is, either," Gun frowned.
"Then, I'll keep listening in. You don't have to worry about the recordings and just settle your life first."
"Thank you, Se Jin-ssi."
"Yeah. See you next time," Hwang Se Jin waved his hand dismissively. He didn't think that he did anything that deserved any thanks. They were in a partnership, after all.
After thanking Hwang Se Jin for the last time, Gun got up and left the cafe.
Gun walked down the ever-bustling streets with a thoughtful expression. Many thoughts were hanging in his mind. But in the end, he locked them away in the back of his mind. There was no use worrying about them right now.
Before he left, Gun headed towards a certain store.
It was a thrift store.
Since the clothes here were cheap, he frequently came here to buy clothes for himself and Yeo Ri. If he looked hard enough, it was easy to find something pretty that would suit Yeo Ri.
"Welcome~" the shopkeeper amiably greeted.
Gun nodded politely towards the shopkeeper before browsing the aisles.
It was late in the evening and they were about to close up for the day, so Gun did not have much time to choose.
He picked out a nice lilac-coloured one-piece for Yeo Ri that did not seem like it had any flaws and a few articles of winter clothing for them. Since they had left the house in a hurry, they didn't have many clothes on them.
When he came out of the store, he carried with him two bags full of clothes that had costed him less than 50 dollars.
Gun walked back to Jin Goo's house. His steps contained a slight sense of anticipation as he imagined Yeo Ri's smile when she receives his present.
