He was wrong.
The enemy was not playing.
The enemy had taken action immediately and before Jinhai was even able to finish compiling the information he got about this unknown person and send it to Liu Jun Yi, they had abducted Chen Ai Yu.
Jun Yi woke up at about 9 the next morning. The first thing he did was check on Ai Yu. He knocked on her bedroom door and said, "Hey, are you awake yet?" He didn't do it too loud though, he didn't want to wake her up if she wasn't awake. He didn't get a response, so he assumed she was still asleep and went to make breakfast.
He had to go to work so he didn't prepare too much, just a simple american style breakfast. He had cooked up two eggs, some potato wedges and two sausages per person. After which, he had to leave for work, but he wanted to tell Ai Yu that he was leaving but he couldn't find paper or any writing material ANYWHERE. He knew he could just send her a message, but he chose another option. He decided to go into her bedroom.
Jun Yi knocked on Ai Yu's door again and said, "Hey, if you're awake, just letting you know that I'm leaving now and I prepared breakfast." He got no reply again so he entered the bedroom. His fingers clasped the doorknob tightly as he slowly opened the door.
When he finally opened it, he saw... no one! Ai Yu wasn't in the bed! The bathroom was outside of the bedroom so he must've seen or at least heard if she had gone. Ai Yu was gone, and Jun Yi has no idea who took her.
Jun Yi's hearted pounded and his mind was in a frenzy. His immediate reaction was to look at the window. His suspicion was right, she had not locked the window. He walked over to the window and without touching anything, looked out. It was the front of the apartment complex, where the CCTV could see.
"Jinhai? Could you get the CCTV footage of the front of the apartment complex from last night too? Ai Yu has been kidnapped." Even thought Jun Yi sounded calm, he was internally frustrated, vengeful and worried. What made him bemused was why this person was doing this. They didn't blackmail him and tell him to do something so that they wouldn't hurt Ai Yu or anything, they just straight up did the hurting.
"What?! So soon? Yes, I'll get it immediately. Should we contact the police about this?"
"Yes, call Jianjun and inform him about this. After all, he's the head policeman. It'd be better than just the neighbourhood police."
"Yes, boss."
The distance from Ai Yu's apartment to Jun Yi's office wasn't very far. The moment he reached his office, though, he received the CCTV footage he had asked for. He hadn't seen the one that he asked Jinhai for last night yet though.
Jun Yi did not try to hide how pissed he was. All those in the office had already been used to his almighty presence before, but this scary side of him they had hardly ever seen before. Of course, they have all seen him angry at least once, but not to this extent!
He slammed his office door shut and put his bag down on his wooden desk. He pulled out his laptop and went straight to watch the CCTV footage Jinhai sent him. The enemy wasn't as smart as Jun Yi had thought them to be. They didn't realise the CCTVs were there at all. At one point, one of the guys even said, "Check for cameras. We can't get caught so easily."
His hand paused before he clicked the "play" button for the CCTV clip of last night. When he did finally click it, he didn't let a single detail slip his eyes. He watched everything so closely that if the computer had feelings, it would've felt violated.
When a guy carrying Ai Yu bride-style was shown, Jun Yi almost crushed the mouse in his hands. His glare turned so piercing that even Jinhai, who had just entered, felt intimidated. "Should I come again later?" He asked, slowly inching towards the door. If he could, he would've definitely gotten the hell out of there. The temperature in the room felt like it hit negatives.
"No, stay. Have you gotten in contact with Jianjun? Tell him to come now," Jun Yi asked just as the video ended. "Yes, he's already here. I'll go call him in," Jinhai replied, rushing out of Jun Yi's office before he could ask him to stay or say anything else.
When Jianjun and Jinhai entered Jun Yu's office, Jun Yu suddenly stood up from his office chair. He was completely serious as he faced Jinhai and said, "What should I do? I made some breakfast at Ai Yu's house and I left it uncovered when I left... sh*t."
"Ah... do you want me to go over and cover it?" Jinhai asked. It was a small matter, but he didn't dare to offend him. Even though they were high school friends, he's still Jinhai's boss.
"No, it's fine," Jun Yi replied, but he still sounded pissed. "How about if they go bad, then you just send her the ingredients you used to make the breakfast?" Jinhai suggested. Jun Yi's head tilted to the side and then nodded, "Good idea. I used 4 sausages, 2 potato and 4 eggs. Deliver that times 10 to her, also add a box full of ingredients for making chai tea and a few cans of whipped cream."
Both Jinhai and Jianjun were shook. That much?! It was a lot! "Damn, Yun... did you fall too hard?" Jianjun asked, looking Jun Yi up and down. Yun was a nickname they created for Jun Yi where they mixed Jun and Yi together. Jun Yi looked at Jianjun confused. "What? Anyways, let's get to the business at hand. Tell me what you know."
"Okay, so you received a threat text by an unknown person targeted towards your girlfriend, Chen Ai Yu," "My female friend," Jun Yi interrupted. "Yes, your girlfriend. And you think that the reason they took your girlfriend is because they want to take control over you by using blackmailing methods. This started with small things like stealing her drink, but very quickly escalated to kidnapping. Am I right?"
Jun Yi nodded. "Also, she's not my girlfriend. You know her name, just call her Ai Yu. I'll send you her address, go over and do some investigation, I'll pass you her keys too. You better track down who this unknown person is by the end of this week," he said, casually throwing Ai Yu's house keys to Jianjun. "Alright. What about you?" Jianjun asked. "I... have a few meetings to attend. If I finish while you're still at her house, I'll go over," he replied, walking towards the office door.
Jianjun nodded. He left the office before Jun Yi and Jinhai did.
