Chapter 2 - 2: Intrusive thoughts

While Chen Aiyu was suffering, a certain man was sitting on a throne of money in the same city. This man was Liu Junyi. He's rich, he's famous, he's successful, he's handsome. What more could he ask for?

Liu Junyi sat in his office, running through some documents, when his assistant, Wang Jinhai, knocked on his door. "Come in." "Junyi, another love scandal has surfaced. A woman by the name Chouyu has accused you of impregnating her. She said she's 4 months pregnant and that it happened after you attended the opening of YouQi jewelry's opening party. Furthermore, she also said that you were the one who seduced her. However, she has presented no proof, just mere words. I can deal with it for you." Jinhai explained.

"No, I want to see this woman. I want to hear what she says." Liu Junyi said. Whether he paid any attention to scandals like these always depended on his mood. Sometimes, he just wanted a little entertainment. He placed the documents down and stood up. "N-Now? Well, if you say so." Jinhai walked to a corner and made a phone call. Right after, he escorted Liu Junyi down into the company's lounge area.

"How long is this woman gonna take? Seriously. I don't have time for this. I'm going back up." As Liu Junyi said that, a woman entered. "Wait. I'm here. Hello, baby daddy." "Excuse me?" Liu Junyi stopped, but he didn't turn around. "What's the problem? I just called you what you were. My baby's daddy." The woman said, crossing her arms.

Liu Junyi's frustration grew. "Speak." He said curtly, walking back over to take a seat.

"You seduced me at YouQi's opening party and convinced me to sleep with you. You said we'd spend the rest of our lives together after you got me pregnant!" The woman accused, pointing at Liu Junyi. "Do you have any proof?" "Why on earth would I have proof? I trusted you! You said you had to leave but you'd return in a few months! It's almost been 4 months... you abandoned me, you b*stard!" She alleged again.

"Alright, how about this? We go right to the hospital and you take the test to find out who this "daddy" is. Because it most definitely isn't me. Let's go now." Liu Junyi demanded.

"Junyi, it's slightly past eleven. I think it's best we go tomorrow. After all, you were only in the office because you were working overtime." Jinhai said. Liu Junyi was reaching for the door handle but his hand paused. "Good point. Come back here tomorrow at 11 in the morning." He turned on his heal and returned to his office, Jinhai following behind.

Chanming looked at the clock. It was 22 10... nothing from Aiyu. He took a deep breath and decided to check on her.

He pressed the doorbell. There was no response. He kept his composure but his palms became sweaty. "Aiyu?" He called out, banging on the door while continuously pressing the doorbell. I have to kick down the door. He thought to himself, giving the door a kick to test its toughness.

It took a few tries, but eventually the door gave in.

From the entrance, the first thing he saw was her half-finished bottle of wine. The finished glass wine stood on the metal table ominously. His heart sank. He darted towards the balcony, leaning over the railing to see if she was on the other side. "Hoo..." he sighed, relieved she hadn't done what he thought she had done. But he was wrong.

Chanming slid to the ground, calming his heart with slow breaths. He blinked slowly, and in his peripheral he saw the toilet door open and the books thrown messily all over the ground. The toilet door was always closed if it was not in use. His heart sank again. He jumped up and ran towards the toilet, but in his flurry, he tripped and fell, his face right before Aiyu's motionless body.

The toilet was painted red.

Nothing was stopping him from blinking, so why couldn't he close his eyes? He wanted to scream, but his mouth wouldn't move. "I... I have to get up. She can make it, yes, she will live," Chanming mumbled, mustering the courage to break out from his frozen state. With trembling hands, he pulled out his phone and called for an ambulance.

Sirens were the only sounds that could be heard throughout the apartment that night.
