{Slowly our my mind starts to vanish between the words I write. Continuing the circle as we slip past the cracks and let the eternal light cast the world white. The light we embrace fades and falls in silence, and darkness swallows the people whole...}
"Saya, are you sure I'm supposed to write like this? I mean, don't you think this is complicated? Will they even understand this? In fact, I don't even understand it myself."
I stop the quill pen from moving as I ask her. Scratching my head with the back of the pen as I ask.
"No, Sova, you're the one who doesn't know. In the Confederation, every agent of the royal family actually uses this way of writing just in case the innumerable peasants manage to get hold of it, they won't understand. It's kinda like what you Owlians call an encrypted text in your messages."
Saya who's walking with a smile plastered on her face swings her tail left and right, prompting my eyes to follow as she explains.
"When you say it like that, doesn't that mean most of us can't actually read?"
Saya pokes at the piles of paper I'm holding replying:
"I guess if you want to see it like that I can't blame you and is probably true in multiple Sectors... But! Just continue writing Sova."
"Okay..."
I scribble the pile of parchments as we take a place to rest in the market district. Given time to rest enjoy ourselves, we take an empty seat and I finally finish the reports with Saya's help before placing the pen down saying:
"Alright, I guess that covers all the market district. Did we miss anything Saya?"
I shake my hand to relieve it from the fatigue I felt and let the blood flow.
"Nope, I think we covered everything for now. So I think we can finally take some break."
Saya leans back as her large pink ears wiggle with delight.
"Oh, great... I don't think I can take it anymore. I prefer doing the assignments May give me than this."
I sorted and tidy the paper, pinning it all with some kind of black toothpick that bend into a circle. Connecting it all with but a single piercing in the edge.
(It's really neat and cool how papers can do that).
I hand it all to her saying:
"All right, then you're the one who's going to submit to her right?"
"Well, technically not to her directly but yes."
Saya takes the stack and places it on her bag that seems to barely just fit.
(Finally, I can relax. Xin and Pasha went separately as we enter here and told us to explore. Tanwa who wanted to accompany us was told of some bigger problems when one of the large buildings we toured exploded. Thanks to that, we promised her that we'll stay here until she retrieves us... I wonder where did Tannan and Sutra go?)
"Hmm? What's this stiff piece of paper for?"
I grabbed a stiff piece of paper placed on the table and inspect the content. It's filled with unknown food and drinks with the price tags in the side written in runician while being laced by some transparent lid that's not too hard.
(Never really heard of this food before even when I travel with Sis and May. Wonder what it tastes like? Oh, and the prices are all pretty cheap, like this sauteed Sane with Yui eggs, sounds fulfilling, and it only cost 3 Riaz. Oh, and this drink called Iced Jiru which only cost 1. I could buy a hundred thousand of it with the card Aoi gave me... But, sadly there's no picture to see what the food and drinks look like).
"U-Ummm..."
A girl who looks the same age as me appeared before us, she's shaking uncontrollably as she stares the floor below and avoided our gaze.
"Is there something wrong?"
(Could she be asking for some help? But this is weird. I mean she's wearing an apron and has those waiters get-up I wear back then...)
"C-can... Can I take your order please!"
Speaking in runician, she pulls out a small jade and prepares to cast something.
"Order? Wait, is this a diner?"
Saya rests her head on her hand saying:
"Yes, Sova, I thought when you chose this place, you could tell the different kinds of seats."
(I see... I didn't really pay attention since the place is pretty crowded).
"Food huh? We haven't had lunch, haven't we? Why don't you order first Saya, I'll take the same order as you."
"Really? Don't regret it now okay? I may have bad taste."
I shake my head replying:
"Nah, knowing what Sis says when you eat, I think it's safe to say you have good taste."
"Tch, I really don't like genuine praise Sova, but I guess I don't hate it either, now give me that menu."
Saya clicks her tongue in disappointment and gestures me to give something.
"Menu? This thing?"
I fan the stiff paper as I answer her.
"Of course! What else do you think this is? Haven't you seen one before?"
"Well no, I worked at a diner before but I never really seen that in the place I worked. Most of the customers just ordered it like they already know what's on the diner."
"You talk like you work in the diner from the Eclipse Empire- wait, is it that decorated soldier you talk to back before we went into the underground station?"
I nod at her saying:
"Mhm! Since the diner is close to my home, I decided to work there. His food is just so good! And he has a variety of recipes in stock so I never get bored. Especially how his wife treats me to a free meal after work which is also great."
I remember my time as I work in that restaurant with a family of 3. Saya looks at the menu replying:
"Very well then, we shouldn't make her wait."
(Ah right!)
I look at the waitress and speak in runician saying:
"Sorry for the wait. We'll take the order now."
"Y-yes!"
She panics and cast the jade to shine. Saya raises two fingers ordering:
"Two peppered Quian with double Yui eggs each and for the drinks, we'll have two cold Onika with extra pulp devas."
"Y-Ye-Yes! Thank you for ordering, please wait, dear customers!"
She bows down and runs to what seems to be a wooden stall where another woman seems to be working. The stall is not so big but pretty humble in its selection. I look back at Saya asking:
"Say, Saya, do you think I've been saying anything weird or dangerous?"
"Oh, lots. But don't worry. It's not THAT bad. But other than that, just enjoy yourself."
"I feel very worried when you say that."
"If you're that worried, why don't you ask that young hag to teach you how to speak?"
"Oh yeah!"
(I could ask Nanny Yunyun to teach me but...)
"Say, why don't you teach me instead Saya?"
"Huh?"
Dumbfounded Saya can only stare at me with widened eyes replying:
"You can't be serious."
I shook my head replying:
"No, I am. Remember how I say I wish to spend my time with you more? Maybe we can spend our time as we study together."
(And maybe I could escape nanny's strict regime. Still, I gotta admit that sounds weird coming from me since I never really study by myself unless May force me to).
"Haaah, I guess that's fine. But..."
Saya's eyes glances left and right before falling onto me as she leans forward asking:
"Say, Sova..."
"Y-yes?"
"Mind telling me about yourself?"
"Huh? M-Myself?"
I point at myself as I ask back.
"Well duh, who else? Like for example, how did you met Rana? I mean, sure there's a probability since your Sis is a Special Rank but..."
Saya rests her head as she speaks. She stares at me intensely as she left her last words a mystery. I look up as I ponder...
(Rana huh...)
"Hmm, it wasn't long since I met her. But... I met her in Central when I was going down the elevator with May. She had a mask on, her voice sounds different, and I thought she was a guy at first too. But then she disappears for a while."
Saya leans back holding her chin and nods saying:
"I see, so it's a coincidence huh?"
"I guess?"
"Well, one more question, how did you end up in that alleyway when we first met?"
"Oh, that..."
I clench my hands as I remember what happened...
"We jumped off from the top walls of Central."
*slam*
"You what!?"
Saya slams the table, causing it to stir as the food and drink shake. I nod and clarify more saying:
"Yea, since magic doesn't work on me, probably. She probably uses some spirit technique to transport me on top of a roof before ending up in that alleyway where we met you. But let's not talk about that."
Saya nods agreeably saying:
"Yes, you're right. So why not tell me what your life was like when you first entered the city? How old were you then?"
"Me? I think I was still 8 or 9 I think."
(For some reason, I feel like this is more of an interrogation).
Saya folds her arms and ponders as she asks me:
"And how old are you again?"
"Oh, I'm 16."
Saya holds her chin replying:
"I never really think too much but, you're so young... Well not that I'm that old either. Say you're not some reincarnated master right?"
I shake my head from her absurdity saying:
"Not that I remember. But I can definitely say I'm not. I mean can we even do that? Not that I know what they are in the first place."
(Reincarnated? Like in those weird novel sections I found back in the public archives and libraries? I heard May like to read those saying it gives her some sort of wish to meet one).
I try to emphasize my race without saying but Saya closes her eyes in contemplation replying:
"Not that I know off, but the fact that you're that strong when you're that young is already incredible. In fact, it wouldn't be weird if someone mistakes you for a reincarnated master."
Feeling my cheeks getting warm, I scratch my cheeks saying:
"Really? I don't know what a reincarnated master is but thanks..."
"But other than that, 7 or 8 years ago. The Phoenix Sector has just recently isolated themselves. And unlike now, their xenophobia is probably at its peak. I wonder how did YOU manage to get to live there peacefully."
(Ah...)
"Well... I can't say I live peacefully. There were a lot of... Problems during the first years we started moving."
"Don't you hate Zerians then? In fact, don't you despise them now?"
"In the past, I did despise them since they cause nothing but misery and problems for my new family wherever we go... Let's just say if it wasn't for a very precious friend of mine, my view of them would've never changed."
I look away as I answer her. And the memories of me saving Nicole from that alleyway resurface.
(I guess I didn't know Nicole was a Zerian when I first met him, his face was muddied, his clothes were dirty, ragged and torn. He doesn't look any different from a beggar. Or even me and my family).
"Hoh, very well. It seems you're not comfortable talking about this. Sorry."
"No, it's okay."
"Don't be, let this lunch be my treat."
"Really!? Thanks! Wait, aren't you going to pay me in the first place?"
"What makes you think that!?"
"Since you're my senior and all, I'm pretty sure that's what my colleagues told me when I was working. And in exchange, I'm gonna help you with something in return."
"I guess some people do that but not me."
"Oh... Okay then."
"Still..."
Saya looks at the store where the waiter and the chef are cooking saying:
"It's taking quite a while."
(Is she talking about the food?)
"Well, I'm sure they're just making sure it's in the best taste after all. Besides, I'm sure it's only just now we ordered didn't we?"
"You're too positive Sova. Unless you're an Owlian who have to cook things manually with your own hands, we can use magic to levitate and cook multiple things at once. There's a reason why the Theocracy won the War of Guns before Glory."
(The fudge of war is that!?)
"Well, let's just be patient okay? I mean this is just a stand on the middle of the road, we can't expect such extravagant services here beside..."
I decided to look at the stall and see the chef is cooking with flashy moves. Seeing the huge slab of meat being cut, cooked, and dice while other utensils fly everywhere, I look back at Saya and continue saying:
"There's only one chef."
"Heh, didn't think you can make a sound argument. Very well then."
"I feel like you've been underestimating me all this time."
"That's right."
Bluntly Saya proclaims without holding anything back which makes my heart hurt a bit.
"You could at least lie a bit."
Saya smiles at me saying:
"Sorry Sova, but I'm not planning to lie to you at this point anymore. Remember? I'm pretty sure I said that back at the diner too."
(That's a nice thing to say but...)
"I really don't know if I should be happy or not."
"That's for you to decide."
"Yea..."
As I ponder the waiter arrived with our drinks.
"U-um! Here are your drinks, thank you for waiting!"
"Thanks."
I thank the waiter as she hands out two huge wooden mugs with a spoon inside. Excited to find out what kind of drink Saya ordered for both of us, I quickly take a peek inside it. It's a bright pink drink with lots of tiny black...
"Seeds?"
"Not exactly. They're actually eggs."
"Huh?"
"They are unfertilized eggs, if you look closely you can see a transparent gel around it. But it really boosts the sweetness of the drinks every time you chew and gives you the perfect crunchiness and it tastes best when it's served cold."
Saya quickly takes a sip and chew as she finishes explaining.
"Oh~ but where did you learn all of this Saya?"
"I actually went and steal a lot of food back before I met you. You'll be surprised by how much the sewage connects to."
"I don't think you should say that stuff when eating... Other than that, I can't wait! Let's eat Saya!"
"Very well."
(Ah right! Rather than removing the gauntlet, I wonder if I can retract them back like my helm? It'll be a pain to remove my gauntlet and put them back on all the time).
My thought begins to focus on my arms when soon, the armour on the tip of my finger begins to move and retract itself until it reaches my elbow and hid under the other part of my armour.
"Woah, nice!"
I quickly retract my helmet soon and take a quick sip. I could taste a very sweet condensation of milk and another essence. And like what Saya said, every time I bite the eggs, I could feel tiny explosions of sweetness going in my mouth.
(It's so sweet!)
I can't help but smile as I drink and eat the eggs. Before I knew it, there's only half a mug left.
"Sova, you better left some drink when the food arrives."
"Uh... I don't think I can... The sweetness is alluring me!"
"I'm not treating to a second cup okay?"
"Eh? But you said you're going to treat me lunch!?"
"There's a limit you know!? You think I'm a walking bank or something!?"
"What's a bank? And... Fine..."
Saya takes a sip of her drink before asking:
"You really love sweets huh?"
"That's right! Hey, Saya, mind telling me what this drink is? I'm very curious to know."
"Oh, this is actually a foreign drink I'm surprised they have it here. Say, do you remember the Baratai treaty Rana told you back?"
"Hmm?"
As I search my memories, my mind clicked at one sentence.
"Oh! About the monster island right? Where they produce heroes. I can't remember much other than that."
"That's right, if you head up north from this frontier, you'll meet the frontier that guards the north part of the monster island. This is where that drink is from and the food I order is from there too. In fact, the people here definitely originated from there also."
"Eh? I forget what Tannan called them but they're from there?"
"Yeah, you can tell by their magic wavelength and their skin tone."
"Oh~ but I'm you know, I can't sense their magic wavelength."
Saya kicks back and relaxes with a smile replying:
"What are you talking about Sova? You're a Silencer, RIGHT?"
(Oh yea! I slip there!)
"Right!"
"Well that doesn't excuse how you can use magic now, so I guess you can't call yourself that no more."
"Uhm... But I can't really control it very well yet. Other than that, say how did they make the drink pink? Did they use food colouring? Is it natural? Is it is, what kind of food is pink? Other than those rumoured premium meat of course."
"Ah! It's definitely natural alright. You'll be surprised. I don't really know the reason why but it's said that in the middle of their frontier is said to host the most scorching place in the known world. In the middle of all the burning flames grows a beautiful pink flower called the Urnga Nekaru which literally translate to hell's flower."
(Oh! This is getting exciting!)
"Wait, from your description, how did such difficult ingredients be served in some diner on some middle of the streets?"
"An astute deduction, the one we drink is merely counterfeited and converted to Runician Delicacies. Fakes if you will. It's already more than a millennium since that flower was found so of course someone manages to grab their seeds and brought it outside. Well, the problem is that the flower's taste seems to differ depending on how hot the place is. The hotter the place the sweeter it becomes and as you expect, the sweeter it is the more expensive it becomes."
"Oh~ wait, since it's taste change when you grow it outside does that mean the taste won't change if you pick it from whence it came?"
"That's right. That's why I've heard they actually have a garden in that place. Makes you wonder how much is the maintenance for that place doesn't it?"
"Nope!"
I replied bluntly as I take another sip. Saya closes her eyes and nods replying:
"I see..."
"But I can't wait for one day where I can bring my family one of those flowers! If this fake flower is sweet I wonder how much sweeter the original flower could be!"
She looks back at me asking:
"That's a stupid idea but aren't you too excited?"
"Maybe, I'll share some with you too if I get one. Still, you kinda remind me of May. Since you seem to know the answer to all kinds of stuff."
"I see..."
"U-um! Thank you for waiting! Here's your food!"
The waiter arrives with two huge plates of our meal. One word... Humongous!
A giant red plate was served, a huge pile of rice covered by thick brown sludge filled with stuff I never saw before.
"Waaah~ thank you!"
I thank the waiter as she hands out the spoon wrapped with tissues and looks back at Saya saying:
"This dish cost single digits?"
"That's right, as for what this is, there are two popular names for it and there two variations since it came from two places. One is suratri and the other is something your people call, curry or natively in Owlian language, Chuiorors. If I have to say the difference is that suratri is spicier while the curry is milder."
"Really? I never had those things called curry or churiri something. But let me have a bite first then, let's eat Saya!"
I take a spoonful and felt an explosion of taste ravaging my mouth it's amazing! It seems this is the owlian version since it's not spicy.
"Sho Ghood and hot! Fuu huuu!"
I eat more and soon remember the taste.
"Wait, I think I remember something similar to this taste. It's back at the diner when I ate those katsu dons, it is smeared with a yellow looking sauce- hum and more sour- Oh! I can taste another wonderful thing!"
"*nom* **nom* Those must be the yui eggs."
Saya answers back as she stuffs her mouth.
"I'm so glad I came here!"
"Eaf slowy ol you'll buwn yol tong, Sowa."
"Look at yourself when saying that Saya!"
"I can jus hel mu sef but yol can't."
"Oof! You're right... Wait, you can use healing magic? I thought those are rare."
(I mean even Nicole who came from the Theocracy can't use it).
Saya forcefully swallows down and takes a drink before answering:
"If you're thinking that only those people at churches can use them then you're absolutely wrong, all her followers can learn all magic with effort alone. But not explaining the reasons, tell me, how many churches are out there? And besides, I'm not using Libera's magic. So I'm not affected by her. Nom nom!"
(Wait, what does she mean by that?)
Saya continues chowing down on her food like a beast as I was caught in thought.
(But I guess she's right. Since I go to a private clinic I never really know much of how Zerians treat themselves when injured. If I follow what she said, it's not that Nicole can't use it but he hasn't learned it yet?)
"Fine... I'll eat slowly."
(Having some normal time like this ain't too bad. Oh, right!)
"Since I'm going to meet Sis Fei after this, maybe I should order a take out."
"You're paying it yourself."
"Ugh! Fine... By the way, they say this card has money in it but how do I even use it?"
I pull out the card in my bag and fan it at Saya as I ask. Saya finishes her plate and pushes it back replying:
"Don't bother. That thing is only useful in Central and the royal districts, so let's use my money for now and you can pay me back when the time comes."
"I never actually borrow money from anyone. So..."
"So this is a good time to experience it. Don't worry, shouldn't you trust me by now?
"That's a difficult question... And I don't like borrowing things involving money."
"Seriously? I guess that's fine. Then let me prove it then, go order what you want. I'll take the money when we're back at the palace."
"Hmmm, don't Sis Yuwei give you any money? You're not doing this for free right?"
"Of course not! I'm getting properly paid."
"Ah, good. Now then... Excuse me!"
I change to speak in runician as I raise my hand and soon realize she's still close to me. The waiter surprised by my sudden turn hastily compose herself asking:
"Y-Yes! How can I help you!"
(Was she there the entire time!? Anyway...)
"Can I please order 2 more of this drink? Please make it for pick-up."
"R-right away!"
I could see her running away with reddened cheeks and I start wondering if I did something?
"Well, let's finish up and pay, Sova."
Saya finished her meal and drink, wiping her mouth as she speaks.
"Is there somewhere you want to go Saya?"
"I'm a bit curious about the artificial sun and the natural roads."
"Wait, didn't we promise her we're going to wait here?"
"Yes, here as in the market district. Don't worry, I'm just going to look at it from afar with a better view. After all, even though it's bright, it doesn't actually hurt your eyes. And coupled how normal the temperature this place is, I'm just curious. And I'm pretty sure finding someone like us is pretty easy since we stand out a lot."
"Eh? Really!?"
Saya nods replying:
"Mhm, and with how beautiful you look now, everyone's been stealing glances at you. Especially the guys."
I take a look around and see most people turning away their gaze and looking stiff.
"I see, I guess I better finish this and put my helm back on."
"Well even if you wear your helm, your armour still stand out you know. I mean who wears a bright purple armour and that cape with such an eye-catching insignia. And let's not talk about me either."
"Ah... I guess I better get used to it."
"That's right. You're going to get a lot of funny looks from everyone, so you better adapt. Now hurry and eat up!"
"But you told me to eat slowly."
"Tch, I hate it when you give a good comeback."
"Why?"
"Don't... Ask..."
*sigh*
"Okay..."
Since we've spent time talking, the food has become a bit warmer and much easier to eat.
(I guess lukewarm food are better than just finished cooking. I mean, didn't Sis Rubeca just ate from the pan as she finishes cooking back during training? I never really think much since I'm always in pain but is her tongue okay?)
As I eat, the waiter arrives with two wooden bottles connected to each other with ropes.
"Here's your extra order!"
She places the drink on the table and leaves before I could say thank you.
"Well, that was fast."
Saya twirls her thumb as she waits for me.
"The waiter or the drink?"
I ask her as I eat.
"Both, just eat up Sova, this waiting is making me frustrated."
"Okay."
*nom* *nom* *screech*
"Hmm?"
Before I knew it, someone has to drag a chair and sit on an empty side of the table.
"So this is where you are, where's Tanwa?"
Sitting with her legs crossed and arms folded it's...
"Ah, Tannan!"
"One of the building exploded so Tanwa told us to wait. So we decided to have lunch as we wait."
Saya explains as I exclaim.
"Hoh, I see, let me pay for it since you're my guest. Sorry for leaving so abruptly, Suowa. Still, if you really want to eat, you could always ask and I'll prepare a feast in the palace."
"It's fine. Now let me finish my meal and we can continue our tour."
Tannan nods to my suggestion saying:
"That's acceptable."
"Still can you really pay? I mean didn't you gave that kid your whole sack?"
"Ah..."
Tannan froze in place as her eyes close with a smile in her face...
"Granny, place their dish on my tab!"
The chef on the small stall nods her head and Tannan waves back saying:
"Thanks!"
"Now then, since we're resting. Say, Suowa, what kind of products do you use?"
I swallow my meal and look at Tannan asking:
"Product?"
"That's right! I mean there's no way you can have such perfect looks without any effort right?"
I look at Saya who's ignoring our conversation before replying:
"Um... It's natural... But I guess I just woke up and look like this."
I look away as I answer. Tannan sharpens her eyes as she looks at me and nods saying:
"I see, I see."
I feel really weird answering this.
(I mean it's not like that's a lie either!)
I quickly ate the remaining food and gulp my drink before wiping my mouth with the tissue.
"Okay, I'm done. Now let's continue our tour Tannan."
"Ah, that was quick. And here I thought I could speak with you more. Very well, follow me, since Tanwa led you to the market district I want to show you a special place."
"Oh really!? That would be nice."
"Of course, I need to give Yuwei the best reevaluation after all."
"Yea!"
When I place the drinks in my bag, Saya pulls out the pen and parchment and gives it to me.
"Thanks, now let's do this..."
*************************************
Between the great white star beneath our feet and the endless path to the white sky, we now stand between what seems to be heaven and earth. Civilization, scatter about through the path of nature and artificial...
"Did I write that right?"
"Well, you're doing good. Keep it up."
"Hehe l, thanks!"
"The views wonderful isn't it? Even though we're underground."
"Yea, it's mystical."
"You can see the roads and the whole sub-district from here. Like that road is where we are just now."
"Hoh... Looking from here, it seems we have travelled far. But it feels like we've only walked for a while though."
"We took a shortcut here, that's why there were many paths to climb."
"Oh!"
As I continue to write the report with Saya's guidance, Tannan stared at the light source in the middle of the district.
"So, tell me, you're an Owlian aren't you?"
"Priufffh! What? Can you repeat that?"
Shocked by her sudden question, Saya raise her guard and reach to her blade. I cover Saya and push her behind me.
"Please don't lie. I need to know."
I look back at Saya where she shakes her head relentlessly.
"I'm sorry Tannan but, I can't answer that question."
She turns her back at us and continues to look down asking:
"At least, tell me, what's your relationship with Yuwei?"
(With Sis?)
I look back at Saya where she walks past me saying:
"You don't need to know that much. What you need to know is that the one standing here is a Silencer of the Phoenix Sector."
"I see..."
Tannan answers softly, but in her silence. The white light that shines upon the great district turns red in but a moment. Dyeing the district with a blood-red hue, the sound of laughing children can be heard around.
(This feels familiar...)
"Is this your doing!?"
Tannan looks back at us with a glare and pulls her weapon out.
"Of course not!"
I quickly shake my head denying her. Soon, bloodlust permeates from everywhere, as if a thousand monster breathing through my neck, the entire district felt like a slaughterhouse.
"What's going on?"
Tannan quickly scans the entire area and seeing how all the people are running to the centre where the giant palace lies. While some are arming up and quickly went to guard the choke points and escorting the people.
"Saya, doesn't this feel like that?"
"Yea, there's no mistaking it."
"What? Do you know what this is!?"
Tannan asks back with hurry and Saya unsheathes her dagger saying:
"This is the Rat-kins crusade of retribution."
"Rat-kin?"
"Weird, I'm pretty sure they are supposed to head to our sector but how did they end up here?"
"I don't know what's happening but you two better come with me to the hall!"
"That would be nice if they didn't show up already."
"What!?"
Crawling in four, they pour out from the holes around the natural roads. With blades in their hands, they defy gravity by traversing the walls like they were lizards. Done in red, black robes and armour they quickly scatter and appear to be numberless. I could see steel raise high and banner of something akin to a lighted of torch some of them.
*BANG*
A loud explosion echoes through the whole district as large boulders fell from the skies, breaking the natural roads and only to be destroyed by a large barrier appearing around the district. From the spiralling darkness above, I could see one rat-kin donning a fancy and amazing red plate armour free falling. With the giant shield on its back, it splits it apart and extends it to become some sort of scythe on both its hand.
"[Hahvdbsuzuabanskkliuuluuu!!!]"
Screaming so loud that we can hear from here, it swings the mighty scythe and cuts the barrier with a giant red energy slash so big it blows the perpetrator far into the wall while the entire palace and the artificial sun in the middle were cut in four.
"Wha!"
All of us were shocked by the sudden development.
"AAAAAAAAARRAAAAAAUUUUU!"
The rat-kins on the wall quickly jumps into the district with their countless number and quickly attack anyone they find. Tannan seeing the horror infront of her glares at us with bloodshot eyes before jumping ahead ignoring us. With the two segmented blades on her feet, she flew and quickly head into the middle of the fray. Saya who's looking the event happening with eyes of disbelief bites her thumb and ponder as she taps her toes.
"Alright, Sova, usually we're not supposed to help but this is a special case. So let's help them."
"Of course I'll help them, what should we do!?"
(Wait, does that mean if anything else happens, she won't help them?)
"Hold on, I'm thinking about the perfect location to place you. You still remember what I told you about rat-kins right? Then the strategy is simple, cut the head of the snake and the others will fall. But since they're on a crusade, I doubt they'll return home alive. So this will at least shatter their morale."
"That sounds easy but will it be really simple?"
(After all, I can't use my qi nor magic now).
"Of course not! That's why let me think... So just wait. One wrong move and it'll cost us the whole district and our lives."
"Fine- hmm?"
When I stare closely at the powerful rat-kin from afar, I felt rising flames burning inside, this... Feeling...
(What's going on? I felt like I need to get to that rat-kin... I need to do something... I need to devour it...)
"What?"
When I snap out of it, I realize some of the rat-kins are climbing their way here already... I fell on my knees as I grasp my chest... My heart that's beating sporadically with no content. My vision reddened and my body burns with power and excitement. The adrenaline rushes over my head as I felt I could just destroy everything.
"Sova? What's wrong!?"
"No, it's nothing... Arrggh! Fudge it, I really don't want to take lives like this but I'm sorry. I'll make sure to kill all of you in one strike."
