Chapter 2 - Cultivating at Conception

Among the infinite realities which make up the multiverse, there exists one universe which has but a single inhabitant. A being whose power was beyond even the imagination of this author. Because the being was the only life form in his universe, he had originally been very lonely. Sure, he knew of other multiverse powerhouses, but he didn't get on with them. They were all pretentious. Always looking at the big picture and never spending time for the small things in life. Thus, to enjoy itself, the being took up fishing.

Not normal fishing, since there were no fish in its universe, but rather transmigration fishing. The being fished for souls from other universes in order to speak with them. Then it would toss these souls into different universes or different times from which they came, in order to sow the entertaining chaos, it so enjoyed watching.

Currently the being was in the guise of an elderly fisherman. He held a simple metallic fishing rod. At first glance, the fishing rod seemed to possess no fishing line. In truth however, the fishing rod had thousands of fishing lines, each of which extended into other universes.

Suddenly, the fisherman felt a tug. He drew that particular line in. The soul's he captured appeared as they had when they died. Thus, when Robert's soul manifested in front of the fisherman, the being mistook him of a Xortlort. The more handsome ones of this humanoid alien species had faces that resembled gaping anuses, with exploded hemorrhoids. The ugly ones looked like Robert. Thus, when the newly retrieved soul claimed to be a human, the fisherman was surprised. To better allow communication, the fisherman remade Robert's face.

"So, you are a human," said the fisherman. "And your name is Robert."

"Yes," replied Robert. "But my friends call me Bob Bob."

"That's alright Robert," said the fisherman. "We're not friends."

"Fine," scowled Robert. "You're too normie to be my friend anyway. You don't even have a proper Cthulhu octopus head."

"So, tell me how you died," said the fisherman. "Did a lover betray you after you had just created a meridian opening formula? Or perhaps you were the peak expert of your world who was betrayed and now wishes to travel back to their childhood."

"A comet hit me," declared Robert. "Obviously it was because the gods of my world feared my future rise to greatness."

"Alright," said the fisherman. "Even though your death was rather boring, I'll reincarnate you anyway. Tell me, would you like to have some cheat like ability? Internal artificial intelligence systems are pretty popular. Or maybe you could reincarnate as a game character?"

"Such inferior systems," mocked Robert. "I don't need a cheat. I'm already a superior being."

"Wow," smiled the fisherman. "Such confidence. I have the perfect universe for you. It's a reality full of cultivators. Where the people engage in repetitive adventures in order to level up."

"Repetitive adventures… Leveling up…." Robert mused. "That sounds perfect."

"Off you go then," said the fisherman as he tossed Robert's soul into its new body.

He usually spent more time talking to the souls he was going to transmigrate. However, an ominous event, which may or may not relate to the main story, had suddenly caught his attention. The being transformed from fisherman into bikini clad warrior mode.

"Oops," said the female warrior. "I forgot to wipe Robert's memory of our encounter. Oh well, I'm sure it will all be fine."

Robert awoke in an unknown place. His form was strange, like a fast growing blob. He could sense other life forces nearby. These life forces were trying to wiggle towards Robert. However, he was being protected by an unknown force field and the big headed worm-like things could only bemoan their failure.

Aside from those disgusting, wriggly things, Robert could also sense a being similar to himself. A literal twin existence which exuded a sense of family.

"No time to waste," thought Robert to himself. "I need to start cultivating."

Robert visualized energy being drawn into himself. Miraculously, qi began flowing into his zygote form.

Green Peach Maiden wiggled out of the embrace of her lover; General With Fierce Brows The Color Of Snow. She quickly dressed and left the luxurious room. It would be scandalous for a lowly maid like her to be found with one of Celestial Heaven's top generals.

She felt a strange sensation in her lower abdomen. However, she took no real notice of it. This was the first time she'd been with a man. So she thought that such strange sensations were probably normal. However, she was ominously hungry.
