Chapter 25 - Holy Maiden of Providence [Rewritten]

A magnificent and beautiful deity graced the puny mortals with her glamorous presence. The human soldiers were captivated and dazzled by the form of this deity. This was a kind of deity they never imagined to witness.

What made this mentioned deity beautiful was her majestic pair of golden wings on her back. No, perhaps the word majestic would not be enough to describe these wings of hers that they were unworthy to lay eyes on. Perhaps the words beautiful, magnificent, breathtaking, graceful, stunning, exquisite, and divine combined would be enough to describe it.

It was as though a goddess revealed herself to unworthy humans. No, she would undoubtedly be a goddess. A goddess that any man would gladly obey and follow, a goddess that they will gladly worship. A goddess that they would do anything just to satisfy her desires and needs.

Regrettably, they were very unlucky. This goddess was the enemy of the humans, and the humans were the goddess's enemies. How cruel fate can be?

This deity being referred to was a woman wearing a full plate white armor, Criswell.

The soldiers were so dumbfounded that they forgot to attack her. They couldn't understand why they were so captivated and mesmerized by her. However, what brought them back to there sense were the countless gun fires sounding all around them.

As they returned back to reality, a high-ranking officer among then finally gave an order.

"E-Everyone! Shoot them down!! Open fi—"

"[Searing Diving Light]."

An illuminating and ravishing golden magic circle appeared on her hand as she pointed her palm towards the soldiers. The magic circle brought forth a large radiant beam of golden light which obliterated everything in its path – the divine light burned everything to ash.

After clearing the obstacle that will soon obstruct her way, she moved forward. However, as she did, an annoyance came upon her. A projectile which was coming towards her exploded causing smoke and dust to engulf her. Not only that, but the shockwave caused by the explosion annoyed her.

After everything that obstructed her view dissipated a little, she turned to face the contraption which did it to her. A tank was reloading its ammo after shooting the goddess which possessed a beauty which surpasses the heavens above.

To stop that annoyance, Criswell gave it no more time to exist.

"[Radiant Outburst]."

A ball of golden light appeared in her hand. Then as she brandished her hand, the ball of light flew off towards contraption. As it made contact, it erupted into a blinding light of gold and destroyed the tank. It somehow resembled an explosion.

With the annoyance taken care of, she pressed onward and halted amidst the broken defenses of the humans.

She was greeted warmly by countless hot leads and magic projectiles. However, she nonchalantly stood there as though there was nothing touching her. Indeed, she was not bothered at all and paid no heed to those worthless attempts of resistance.

She then pulled out something from thin air. In the next moment, she was now holding a sword in her hand. The sword had the scheme color of white and gold the same as her set of armor.

The sword was called the "Divine Blade of Providence" which was given to her by her master.

Amongst the numerous groups of soldiers that were shooting her, she picked the one with the most people. She charged towards them, however, in the eyes of the humans, Criswell disappeared. As though in an instant, one of the soldiers were cut in half.

The humans were frozen as they saw that half of their comrade floated up in the air before going down the ground as well as they gazed at the frozen expression of that no doubt dead comrade.

In instant fear that struck like lightning, they reflexively stepped back to survive. Unfortunately, some of them didn't manage to take a step back before being cut down and their blood flew towards their comrades that tried to run. Some were terrified as they witnessed their fellow soldiers being slaughtered by a goddess.

Then in like a couple of seconds, Criswell had already eliminated the entire group she targeted for. It was a bloodbath. The innards of the soldiers were bathing in the pool of blood which was mixed together from different sources of dead soldiers.

Even so, the soldiers didn't let that stop them. They continued their attacks on her as though unfazed by the bodies of their dead allies lying on the ground.

Good, they weren't the same as previously.

She thought.

Previously, the soldiers were in the grips of intense fear as they saw something they couldn't believe. They saw something overwhelming that they couldn't even begin to comprehend. That fear as well as confusion were both evident on their faces.

Well, Criswell understood their fear. An inferior being would fear something superior and more powerful, especially when the latter gave them a glimpse of their power.

This was what Criswell felt when she got a little feel of her master's power. Yes, she was frightened. Who wouldn't be afraid if their creator showed a bit of his power? That said, she wasn't the only one who was afraid, but the other creations were also frightened, and Criswell knew this for she could tell it.

However, even though they fear their master, they love him at the same time, they greatly love him. It was only natural to fear their creator, but it would be absolutely unnatural to not love him, one doesn't have the right to exist if that one never loved him.

Their master had never been abusive nor treated them badly, therefore they know all too well he loves them. Is it not natural to love back their creator which loves them?

Criswell aimed for another group again. As she did, she again vanished in the eyes of the soldiers. Due to her being instantly disappearing from their eyes, they halted their shooting as they searched the area for her.

However, only for a short moment, someone's blood had already splattered towards the others. Some attempted to shoot her even at a closest distance for they thought there was no escape, still, that was useless. They already died after a few seconds.

After that, Criswell spread her wings. It was a glorious sight, for a second the soldiers were captivated but immediately returned to reality. Then, Criswell flapped her wings. With it, a strong force of the wind which pushed soldiers away and made them lie on the ground.

From the single flap of wings alone released a great force. It was hard to believe, but they saw it with their own eyes, therefore it really did happen in reality.

Criswell floated in the air for a moment before returning her feet to the ground. She gazed at the soldiers and saw them slowly standing up.

"Humans sure are persistent. Still, that is the natural thing to do."

The humans close to her heard her relaxing and gentle voice. Even though she spoke under the helm, her beautiful voice could still be heard.

Her voice was certainly like a goddess's. It was like a gentle beautiful music which puts everyone who hears it gain harmony and calmness. One could live hearing her voice every minute or even perhaps every second of their life. Because of that, the humans imagined her to be someone beautiful under that helm.

I don't know what the master's intention is, but it seemed like he wants the humans to resist us. Perhaps he seeks to test our strength? Or perhaps in order to practice and improve our skills.

Criswell didn't know what specifically her master's goal could be or what could be the reason. However, there was no need to question the order of the master. All she had to do was follow her master's orders, even if it leads her to her death or even if she needs to be sacrificed, she will gladly follow it. It was a great honor to obey her master's command. She will follow her absolute master's commands.

I will follow the master everywhere he may go... I will do anything for you my master, everything and anything for you. Whether you become frail and weak, I won't abandon you. I will follow you no matter what end. I will forever serve you… I will be your proud slave.

Nothing will break her love for her master. No matter what circumstances, her loyalty and love for Xyn Draven Nightfall will never disappear.

And this was the right hand of the Dark Lord which transcended to the realm of the gods, Criswell, the Holy Maiden of Providence.
