Chereads / Dark Lord of Tartarus [Dropped] / Chapter 20 - Arrival of Strange Entities

Chapter 20 - Arrival of Strange Entities

Ana was hanging out with her fellow soldiers to eat, it's kind of late for lunch but a human would need to eat. She was in an eating place with her fellow soldiers or it could be said her friends. She was sitting on a bench, and each of her sides is where her friends sat which are females, and in front of her was a table with foods on it, then on the other side were three males.

"Finally we get to eat with each other."

"Yeah, we didn't get a chance because we need to guard at some post."

"I'm glad I can finally get a little breathing."

"It's a great thing you're all okay." Ana said.

"Yeah, I'm fortunate I got out alive, especially when I was stationed outside the wall."

"Me too."

"I didn't get stationed outside, but judging on what I have seen, it looked like hell."

"A lot of people died yesterday."

All of them lowered their heads in sadness.

"Our enemies yesterday are sure strange, so strange, don't you think?" Ana said.

"Yeah, I'm quite shocked when I saw they weren't human, mostly when I encountered one close."

"Also, it's disturbing that all of them just disappear after they're killed." Ana said.

"Could they all be summoned monsters? There are magic casters that can do that."

"No way, those monsters were strong for a human being to control."

"I agree, looking at their numbers and those type of creatures, there's no way anyone could do that."

"Except if there are many of those summoners."

"But those creatures are powerful, especially those flame giants. It's unlikely they could just be summons."

"We'll don't know that. After all, this is a big world. There could be individuals that can do such a thing. Of course let's not forget the probability that they may be a country's army, a country that accomplished such a thing through many ways." Ana said.

"Yeah, this is a big world."

"If there is an individual that can do such feats, is someone we must watch out for." Ana said.

Everyone nodded, and then everyone took a bite of their food.

"Still, those skeletons were like the undead I see in games, those skeletons definitely are called undead."

"I also see them in games, but in games, they were not scary at all and just common enemies. But, in real life, they are frightening, so frightening, mostly when they can take your life."

"Yeah, even though I'm not outside the walls, I felt fear in just seeing those creatures."

"Not just the undead though, but also hellhounds. I only get to hear them in stories. And the one we thought practically breathe fire."

"A lot of people got burned by them…"

Her friends started to notice everything is so sad, so they wanted to change the subject.

"Hey, did you guys see how Ana destroyed the enemy?"

"O-oh yeah! The way she kills those flaming giants with just one bullet is incredible!"

"Also she kills those red giant birds, without her I would be killed by now."

"C-Come on guys, what are you sayin—."

Her friend interrupted her.

"You're so awesome Ana. I wish I had the same gift like yours, even though I could never have something like that."

"You were a great help in the battle Ana!"

"We would have not been able to finish the battle in a not so long time without your support."

"Without you, the walls would have already been broken and the monsters could have swarmed the entire town."

"Y-you g-guys… Without you guys, the battle would never end this way. I didn't do that much."

"What are you saying? You did a lot."

"Without you, those golems would have been successful in destroying the wall."

"Y-yeah, also without you I could have been eaten by that red bird."

"A-a-ah."

Ana lowered her head feeling embarrassed, and she was blushing.

Then Ana noticed something suddenly.

She quickly looked around in surprise and confusion. Her friends also noticed so they looked all around in confusion.

"What the hell? Isn't fast? Too fast?"

One of her friends said.

"It was just so sunny, how did it get dark suddenly."

Everybody looked at each.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Ana said.

Ana quickly ran outside to have a view of the sky. But she saw no sky, all she saw were pitch black clouds, it's as though a storm just appeared above them.

Her friends also went out then got to Ana's side.

Ana felt like she has seen this scene before. It feels familiar. After a few seconds, she finally realized why it feels so familiar.

"This, this is just like before." Ana said.

"You mean?"

All of her friends looked at each other after they have also realized it.

"This is like the day when we were warned." Ana said.

"All units! This is General Jonas Hender. Seven possible hostiles spotted on the plains. Go to your defensive positions now!"

After they heard Jonas from the radio, they were at confusion at what the general said.

"W-wait?! Did I hear that right?"

"I heard seven of them."

"Oh so I did hear it right."

"We don't have stations assigned yet. Where should we go?"

It was their time off to have a free time, which is why they don't have any assigned positions.

"Still we can't just sit here. What about we go atop the wall?" Ana said.

"Yeah, we can do that."

Everyone else agreed.

"Then we should grab our gears before we climb up. Let's go." Ana said.

All of them ran to the wall.

Their gears were left at the base of the wall before they went out, including Ana's sniper rifle. Of course, they would get their equipment there, for instance, body armor or secondary weapon.

After they reached the base of the wall and equipped their gears, they quickly ran to the top of the wall – to the left side of the south gate.

Ana looked around and saw the other soldiers are on their guard. Then she saw Jonas on the right side of the south gate.

Ana narrowed her eyes as she looked into the distance.

One of her friends pulled out a binocular and looked at the direction of the said possible hostiles.

"There are seven people." Her friend said.

Curious on what they could be, Ana rested her Barrett sniper rifle of the edge of the wall and placed her eye on the scope.

She was puzzled of what she had seen.

"What?" Ana quietly said.

She keenly looked through her scope to make sure, but nothing changed.

"Strange…" Ana said.

"What do you mean?"

"You thought too, Ana?" Her friend with the binoculars said.

"What do you guys mean, they're a too far to be seen clearly."

"Well, for short they're wearing strange clothes." Ana said.

"Huh?"

"Look they're getting near, you guys should be able to see them more clearly now." Her friend with the binoculars said.

Her friends narrowed their eyes as they looked into the distance and finally, it's a bit clearer as the possible hostiles walk closer.

"You're right, they are strange."

"Yeah… they look like their wearing casual clothes… and are those two wearing a full set of armors."

"Yes, they are." Ana said.

The one in the middle wears a luxurious looking trench coat, and it seems he's radiating something. Moreover, he wears a red mask and had a hood on fully covering his head. His body is straight as he walks like he's taking a stroll.

On his left is a white armored person, judging by the slender figure and ample breast, it has to be a woman, and also what's noticeable on her is the pair of golden wing on her back. With she wearing a helm, none can see her face.

Next on the woman is what looks like a woman wearing a military uniform. But her clothes are different, it almost looked like it's a dress in a military theme. Furthermore, she wears a red mask, so none could see her face.

Next to her is a man wearing a black robe holding a staff. He also is wearing the same mask as the military uniformed female, and also he had his hood on covering his entire head.

Then on the right of the man in the middle who wears a trench coat is a black armored person, he looks to be a man. But what's noticeable on him is a pair of raven black wing on his back. The same as the other armored one, he also wears a helm so no one could see his face.

Next to him is a man wearing a black formal suit. He body is so straight and walking nonchalantly, one would think he's a confident gentleman. Also, he looks so defenseless. He wears a red mask just like the others.

Next to him is an odd one. It is a little girl.

What? Why is there a little girl there?

Ana thought.

She wears a dress with a dominant color of white and black with matching colored short skirt. She walks in a shy way and holding something close that's look like a staff. Like the others, she wears a red mask covering her face. Ana looked closer and she saw a pair of long pointy ears. With that, it's highly possible she's not human.

What are they?

Ana thought.

Then after a few moments, all of them stopped walking.

The one in the middle looked to his right then to his left.

Ana peered to the man in the middle, wondering who could that be.

Probably their leader

Ana thought.

"Have they come to make peace?" One of her friends said.

"Yeah right." Another one of her friends said in a sarcastic manner.

"Come on, there's only seven of them."

"Stay on your guard, as I look at them it gives the chills a bit." Ana said.

Then after several seconds of silence, a voice rang out.

"Greetings, humans, we have come to finish what we started."

The man in the middle spread his arms as he said that.

Ana and her friend shrugged a little when the man talked.

He's talked casually, it felt like it was out of place.

His voice reached Ana's ears, he wasn't shouting, it was as though he was talking just beside her. His voice sounds so calm and gentle, for a second it felt relaxing for the heart. Still, that doesn't change the fact his voice reached her ears that far.

What did he do? How could I hear him this clearly? Was it because of magic? But I heard nothing of such.

Ana thought.

As she pondered that, the man in the middle continued.

"I know you won against my army, for that, I must congratulate you. And also, thank you for giving your all in the prior battle."

Thank you? Why would he thank us? We won, that's not thank you is supposed to be used.

As she thought that, she felt more doubt. It felt like these guys are not normal, it felt like the danger meter escalated drastically.

"That was a good test run. It made a pretty good result for me."

After the man said that, one of her friends talked.

"Test run? Is he saying it was like a test?"

"Is he making excuses in his loss?"

"He's just in denial that he lost."

Ana listened to them but she didn't respond but instead observed the enemy.

Then the man in the middle continued.

"Now then, let us be done with the small talks. We will attack you once again, and this time it will only be the seven of us."

After that one of her friends said.

"He's kidding. There's no way they can win against us. We have at least seven hundred men here in the south, that's a hundred times their number."

There were a lot of casualties in the previous battle, so some soldiers have been sent here from other stations.

"Don't underestimate them. They came here with no other forces in hand, which means they're confident to fight against us." Ana said.

"You're right, they are confident enough to face against hundreds."

After that, the man in the middle continued talking.

"However, I will give you a handicap. I will give you a chance to attack us with everything you have and we will stand here straight and still."

What are they trying to do?

Ana thought.

That was a very strange thing to say, naturally, no one would let them get attacked by countless weapons and take them all head on.

Then finally the man said.

"Now, Let us begin. Attack us with everything at your disposals, humans!"

The man said that like in an excited manner.

Ana looked around her, but no one seems to be moving.

Ana looked at the faces of the soldiers around and saw puzzled and surprised expressions.

This was understandable though. The man declared he would take all their attacks all of the sudden, every soldier was confused and still processing their thoughts. It's a very odd thing that someone would declare to take every attack of an entire army.

Several seconds has past and no one still moved a muscle to engage the enemy.

"Will you not attack?"

The man in the middle said, it sounded like he was a bit tensed though different from his previous way of talking. Maybe he was just surprised that the army has not engaged yet.

The man lowered his head like how someone would sigh.

Then the man looked to his left and all on the left looked back at him then Ana heard the words of the man.

"Conjure a rifle and shoot anyone you like to kill among them."

The girl in the military uniform bowed her head, and from where Ana is looking she can see it is with respect.

Wait, shoot anyone?

Ana thought.

"What? Are they serious?"

"Seriously?"

Her friends said.

Then a rifle appeared on the girl's hands. It has a scope on it so it could be a sniper rifle. However, it was not like any other rifle that could be seen. It has a very sophisticated design, it looked like it was significantly customized, and it looked like a rifle from the future. The sniper has a black primary color and gold secondary color.

The girl put her eye on the scope and only in like a second she pulled the trigger of her weapon then a light blue projectile shot out. The projectile flew in swift and just like in an instant it hit its target.

Ana followed the direction where the swift projectile went and she saw that it hit someone on the right side of the wall. The projectile hit the target's head cleanly. It hit and killed a soldier.

Ana was surprised at this. The girl only aimed for like a second and she cleanly hit someone in the head in that kind of distance from between the shooter and the target.

Everything happened too fast, and every soldier tried to process what just happened. They blink several times and it was silent for several seconds before they realized what happened.

Then a calm voice rang out.

"I trust you are all provoked now. So what is your response?"

Ana started to get angry after they killed one of her allies, and he even talked like it was no big deal. It was not just her that's angry, it was the other soldiers as well.

Then a voice came from her radio.

"Now they have done it. All units shoot when I give the command. Let's give them what they want."

It was the voice of General Jonas.

Every soldier in the south side readied their weapons and aimed at the enemy.

All magic cannons being moved to aim at the opposition.

Ana returned her eyes to the scope and moved her sight to the man in the middle and boosted her weapon three times using her gift. It was not just that she alone aimed for him, but also a lot of the soldiers.

Then after that, the radio sounded.

"FIRE!"

Ana pulled the trigger and the bullet spat out.

The other soldiers also fired their weapons to the enemy.

Every high powered weapon fired at the opposition, bullets and magic projectiles flew to the seven enemies. Machine guys firing at the fullest, tanks firing machine guns and their main cannon, every single soldier on the wall fired rapidly. All magic cannons even the experimental one fired and kept firing at the opposition.

Several seconds have past but they're still not stopping until they run out of ammo or their weapons overheat. Magic cannons kept firing until their magic energy depletes.

Ana was a bit startled because of the intensity of every weapon's fire and her aim got off because of it.

The places where the enemies are were instantly covered by thick dust being blown because of the army's attack and smoke. All of the enemies were covered and they are nowhere to be seen.

Her aim got off, thick dust and smoke covered the enemy so she can't do a follow-up attack. She tried to peer through the dust but still saw nothing, not even a single sign of the enemy.

Several seconds and the intensity of their attack lowered, it seems everyone ran out of ammo and their weapons overheated. Then a few seconds there was no longer any shooting, it was now all quiet.

The dust clouds and smoke still covered the enemy so they can't confirm yet if they are eliminated.

"No way could they survive that!"

"I agree on that."

"Yup, no way."

Ana's friends said.

A few seconds have past and the dust clouds and smoke finally began to fade and things are getting clear.

Ana narrowed her eyes as she looked into the distance, then she saw something like a silhouette of something.

"No way."

Ana quietly said and frantically returned her eyes to the scope.

She looked to the place of the enemy, there she saw some figures. She shifted her sight around them to make sure, but they are still there.

"Impossible!" Ana shouted.

"W-What's impossible Ana!?" Her friend asked.

"How the hell are they still standing after all that?" Ana said.

"What?!"

All her friends quickly peered into the distance, and as the dust cloud and smoke faded just enough to see clearly, their eyes widened in surprise, as well as the other soldiers.

Then the dust cloud and smoke wholly faded, everything is clear now.

"I-Impossible!!!"

"No way!!"

"How could that be!!?"

Her friends and other soldiers shouted in surprise and confusion on the scene before them.

All of the seven were all standing casually, exactly how they were standing before.

"How are they unscathed from that?" Ana said.

There was a commotion around.

What they saw was something impossible, unbelievable, and impractical. No way could someone survive that– hell, there was not even a scratch on them.

Ana began to breathe shakily at the unbelievable scene before her.

Then she shifted her sight to the man in the middle.

She saw the man patted his clothes as though to remove dirt off his clothes.

Then an out of place voice sounded out. It was from the man in the middle.

"Is that all? Is that all you can give to us?" The man looked around. "Then I suppose it is our turn now. It's time for the main event!"
