Damn, security's tight.
Xyn thought to himself while looking down below him.
Xyn was looking at a mining site from above in a distance. He cast the spell [Absolute Unknown] on himself to make him invisible, also no sound could be heard from him even if he shouts or walk, and he becomes undetectable to any detecting devices or to detecting spells or skills.
He was looking keenly around the surroundings of the mine entrance. There were 3 watch towers with spotlights and fences surrounding the mining site, and there was just one gate. Guards were patrolling outside and inside the area, they were armed with strong firearms powered by magic but those were insignificant for him.
They have a lot of securities patrolling around, four people on top of the towers each with spotlights, and one gate. Getting inside might be easy but I need to wait until night time.
It was morning and the sun lighted up the entire land. He came at morning because all security personnel were possibly working around the site at that time.
Even if it was afternoon, he couldn't sneak inside the mine, that was why he needed to wait until dark. The spotlights may be used during the night but that can be dealt with, and also going at night was more advantageous and easier for Xyn.
"Haha, now I'm being a thief, huh. But it can't be helped. Also, they're mining it for their own gains anyway, so I'm fine with that. It will be a different story when worthy and innocent people were gaining from this."
Even when he talked, nothing still heard him.
Gained just enough information, he teleported back to his cabin and dispelled the invisibility spell then sat by a tree's roots. All he needed to do now was to wait until dark to infiltrate the mine.
"Haaaaah, I hate waiting." Xyn complained.
***
Xyn landed on the ground and hid behind a tree a few distance from the mine. He peaked and saw the spotlights lighting up the perimeter outside the fence and guards patrolling around. He observed the surroundings and planned on how to enter the mines.
Spotlights are exposing every detail in its light, guards also each have a flashlight in hand. I could use [Absolute Unknown] to enter the place easily, but there might be some spells or devices I don't know about that can detect my presence if I just freely fly or walk around, so I have to do some other methods. It is better to be careful than not, so I'll use that then. Also this should make a good practice.
Darkness began to cover Xyn's body until every part was engulfed by it. After that he started to look like he was melting and then he's melting body fell to the ground. Well he didn't exactly melt, he just became one of the shadows, or rather he became a shadow on the ground. He blended completely with the shadows of the leaves and trees, so when he is at a shadow of something he couldn't be seen. This works best in the dark so he chose to act at night time.
The shadow moved or it should be said that the shadow crawled to a big rock near the fences of the mines hiding from the sight of anyone from the towers and from the lights. A spotlight then was passing through the rock he was hiding.
I need to avoid the lights.
After the light passed, he moved to the fence, passing through some guards. Xyn was crawling in front of them, of course, the guards didn't notice anything and he also avoided the lights that were coming from the guards' flashlights. As he reached the fence, he easily passed through it and got inside the mining site. Passing through the fence was a trivial task for him, that was because when he is in his shadow mode, he could crawl through small spaces or holes.
Playful thoughts came into Xyn's mind.
What if I troll around for a bit, that could be fun. I could sting someone without them noticing me. Haha! No not now, I need to focus.
Xyn then pressed onward.
He hid on the shadows of the building, boxes, and more. While he was crawling on the shadows of the building, he had to avoid the lights on the buildings. Therefore, he crawled to the top sides and rooftops of the building to at least lessen the chance of getting spotted.
He passed through a lot of guards, lamplights, flashlights and so on until he finally reached the mine entrance.
Good thing they don't have dogs around, lucky me.
Dogs have keen sense of smell and hearing. So when dogs were around and Xyn was crawling all around the place, dogs might be able to detect his presence and might alert the guards around him. In an alert state would make things difficult, and worse, he might get spotted then everything will go south, and he might not be able to get back here again.
Xyn sighed silently in relief.
Now then, everything will be a little easier from here on out.
A cave has a lot of dark spots to hide into and there might be no one working inside because currently, it was night time, so Xyn felt a little relieved when he reached the entrance.
Then Xyn pressed onward into the cave.
Hmmm, I only need to keep moving forward and follow the path, and I might find what I need.
Xyn crawled on the top right side of the cave to avoid some light and lessen the chance of being noticed and moved further inside the cave. Xyn can move fast in his shadow mode, which can lower the chance of being noticed and can help him reach his goal faster. He didn't move fast while he was infiltrating to reach the mine entrance but slowly, because he needed to be careful about the lights that might expose him. In a cave however and without any workers, he could move as fast as he want, but of course he still needed to watch out for the lights.
He was crawling fast inside the cave and suddenly he stopped, Xyn saw two paths that could lead anywhere.
Oh, so that's why there are two rails. But, where should I go?
Xyn looked at the two paths. He thought that one might lead to his goal and one might lead to certain doom. Of course he was just being melodramatic, there was no way there would be 'doom' inside a cave with very valuable minerals and had people walking and mining all around the place.
I'll take right then. If there's nothing there I can always go back and take the other way.
Then he moved at high speed to the path at the right and went inside it.
Come on! How far is it!?
Xyn shouted in his head losing his patience.
As he moved forward inside, he saw a little bit of light at the distance. He hoped that was what he was looking for and moved more quickly. As he gets nearer, the lights were getting brighter and when he got to where the lights were, his eyes widened. He saw a wide area and it looked like a dome underground, there were an open wagon that was filled up, several lamp of lights on the walls, and what got his attention the most was the minerals on the cave walls. These were the minerals he was looking for, these were the minerals he needed.
"Magic Crystals." He said quietly.
Magic Crystals were one of the most expensive and valuable minerals in the world. The crystals could be used to store mana, if mana is stored people could use it as a power source. Also, the crystals were said to be able to store some spells or magic, but not everyone could do something like that easily. But for Xyn, it might be possible to store powerful spells in it.
He learned about the mine and the Magic Crystals from talking to some people in a town nearby. He first heard from someone that there was a mining site in the vicinity and said he saw Magic Crystals being brought out from the mine. Interested, Xyn approached the man and asked questions about the mine he had seen.
Xyn heard about Magic Crystals back when he was studying at the Cedeas Academy, he heard that magic crystals were very valuable and very expensive to buy for just a small chunk of it. Within his three years of training, he also researched about magic crystals because he was interested and curious about it. When he finally thought of what to do and what he wants to be, he needed to have a lot of Magic Crystals in order to achieve it.
After he rosed up from the shadows, he walked slowly towards the wall and slowly reached for the blue crystal on the wall. He caressed the blue crystal and smiled in happiness.
"Finally, I found it. Now time to get a ton of this…or more."
He spoke quietly. Of course, he was still aware of where he was.
Xyn turned around and stared at an open wagon and raised his sights to the contents atop of the wagon. The wagon was filled with Magic Crystals.
"It should save time and effort to just grab the crystals from the wagon."
He cast a silent flight spell to himself and he floated to the top of the wagon. It was just a rail wagon, there was nothing around to pull it whatsoever, probably they were using magic to pull or move the thing, or maybe the wagon has features to move itself, but Xyn had no time to examine it. He extended a hand then a hole appeared out of nowhere and it slowly went down swallowing the blue crystals in its way. Then suddenly he heard something, he heard something with his superhuman hearing from the features of his Dark Incarnation. There was a high pitch metallic sound coming his way.
He turned to the direction of the sound, and it was approaching in an above average speed. But before he can fully turn around, he saw what it was and he was struck by surprise.
What!? They have those patrolling around the cave!?
It was a drone. Xyn only heard the drone when it was near him, probably because it doesn't release a really loud sound. The drone's camera seemed to have seen him, Xyn didn't worry about his face being seen because he was wearing his black cloak and had drawn the hood over his head, so the drone could not possibly see his entire face and plus, the drone had a little more altitude than Xyn.
Then suddenly an alarm rang out, it came from the drone and the outside.
"Tch."
Xyn looked back at the wagon and all the contents were now put into his Pocket Dimension, and the hole was now gone. Then Xyn turned back to the drone that was still making loud alarm sounds.
"[Lightning Bolt.]"
He casted a middle tier spell and a bolt of lightning flew towards the drone and when it hit, the bolt destroyed the drone leaving some of its remains on the ground.
That should at least destroy the data within the drone.
He destroyed the drone so the recorded data would also be destroyed with it. He couldn't risk letting an image of him being kept even if he had the hood of his cloak to cover half his face.
Xyn then called to something.
"Shadow Phantom."
A humanoid figure appeared in front of him. It was similar to his Dark Form but the Phantom was all darkness with no other colors. The Shadow Phantom was summoned from using the power of his Dark Incarnation.
"Destroy the data center where all records are kept, if you can't find the specific place in 5 minutes, destroy every technology and machines in this place."
The Shadow Phantoms are level 55 beings, they have the element similar to Xyn's Dark Incarnation. Xyn could have just ordered it mentally because the phantom was a summoned being, but it was better to say it to be clearer. In addition, summoned creatures get a portion of its summoner's knowledge and the summoner's recent thoughts when the creature is summoned. Also summoned creatures are not permanent so the phantom will disappear soon, but Xyn's summoned units can stay into existence for a long time.
After Xyn gave his order, the phantom bowed deeply and became one with the shadows and moved at high speed, the same as what Xyn did when he entered the mine.
"I'm sure it will accomplish its job. Hmmm?"
Xyn looked at the remains of drone. He keenly looked at it to make sure it has nothing left to let people read the data. But Xyn always make sure.
"[Fireball]"
Xyn aimed the ball of fire to the remains of the drone.
[Fireball] is a middle tier spell and can damage a small area.
"It's likely that the phantom can't find the data center, but that's fine, the phantom can do the second option easily."
Xyn could just leave the phantom here, he would know if the phantom was finished because summoners were linked with their summons.
Alright I'm done here.
Xyn instantly disappeared. He teleported back to his cabin and inhaled the fresh air deeply.
He sat at the roots of a tree and pulled out something from nothing. A chunk of blue crystal suddenly appeared in Xyn's right hand. He then rotated the crystal to see its every corner and details.
How can I do this? Release some magic to it?
Xyn released a bit of his dark power to the crystal and what happened next amazed Xyn and made him excited. The crystal absorbed the darkness and the darkness could be seen inside the middle of the crystal.
Well that was easy. But what about I add some other magic?
Xyn then released different kinds of magic and spells on the blue crystal, the result was what he expected. The crystal absorbed every spell and magic he applied into it and it seemed to combine with the magic that was already inside.
Then it is assured then.
He was now sure that he could succeed in what he was seeking to do.
A few minutes have past and he felt something from afar. The Shadow Phantom contacted him from the link and the phantom reported it had succeeded in its mission, the phantom destroyed every machine and technology on the mining site. Knowing the phantom was done, Xyn made a mental command.
You have done well. Now, disappear.
Xyn felt the link being cut, that was because the phantom was now gone after Xyn gave his command.
"I guess it is now time to begin."
Xyn stood up and walked to the cabin and entered inside.
