Chapter 76 - Unexpected (4)

"If you did not prepare it then who prepare it?" he asked.

The maid remained thunderstruck for a long while.

She did not see the face of the woman because most of the lamps were fueled off in the night.

"My Prince I did not see her face because of night," her throat was until now parched and dry.

It was her last day of life, definitely.

The other maids and servants mocked her in their heart, how undeserving personal maid? She even can give a medicine to her mistress with looking at the giver?

This maid should be severely punished.

The Prince gestured and a guard pointed his spear toward the maid.

The other guard dragged her out of the room, they were going to execute her in the square.

The maid kept pleading and begging for mercy but it seemed everyone was deaf to hear her.

It was last part of the night and she might not be able to see the light of next day.

"Do you have any last wish,?" a guard asked.

The maid went silent for some time.

"I remember I have something through which the Prince could find the woman who gave this acid medicine to me which caused the death of my mistress," she begged to take it as her alst wish.

The guard went to take permission from Crown Prince.

Surprisingly, the permission was granted.

The maid ran to the room and frantically searched the bracelet which she found under the table.

She ran back and reached in front of prince, "My Prince, When the woman left the kitchen, her bracelet fell there, here it is," she presented it to the Prince.

He take the bracelet and looked at it.

He carefully saw again.

Why it looked familiar? Where did he saw it?

He gestured and dismissed everyone.

The maid would be kicked out from the Palace and she might end up in poverty and starvation because society would abandon her, no one would help her sustain her life being an irresponsible maid, this punishment was severest if compared to death.

The Crown Prince went in his room, he was searching throught his memories as to where did he see this bracelet before.

In the meantime, someone was sitting on a chair in her room and making the exact copies of the same bracelet which was now laying in front of the Crown Prince.

Wei Lan was following Henan from previous day, since she her first time when she ran into her.

She saw the verbal war of the two concubines with her.

She saw the expressions of outdated concubine and thought to follow her because she had seen that the outdated concubine was thinking to implicate Henan by sneakily disbanding her bracelet from her wrist.

She was following outdated concubine since then.

There were black bags under her eyes now.

She prepared ten bracelets, and all them were exact copy of the concerned bracelet.

She stood up and walked out of her room.

She wore one in her hand.

She went toward the room where Henan was staying.

She left one bracelet on her table.

She wrote a note(Someone is trying to implicate you through this bracelet), thought she was little curious as to where was Henan at this time if not in her room.

Now she was thinking what would be her next step.

She was standing in the middle of the Fourth Court.

What can she do to make it work?

Henan crossed slaves dorms area and reached outer edge of the hind part of the Palace.

It was restricted for common.

She kept her pace as unnoticeable as she could.

It was the end of autumn so the whole grounds were matted with dry leaves.

There were trees big and tall every after some distance.

Small castles were standing in rows.

She took enough time to explore hundred meters, and within this range there were three small castles.

There were few guards on duty and from there carefree mood, it seemed that they were only guarding some guests.

She walked further.

She reached at the periphery of seventh castle.

She felt there was something unusual about it.

First of all it was surrounding by many guards.

They were alert and pacing around to keep check every suspicious movement withing the restricted area.

"Could it be that they kept Wan Hu here?" Henan hide behind a big tree.

No one can ever think that a girl could be spying them at this hour of the night.

She felt strange.

'Why it seemed that someone was at her behind and keeping his eyes on her and was ready to attack?'

She concentrated.

It was true somehow.

When she was walking between the slave dorms place, a guard caught her sight and started to follow her, why did not he signal others to get alert or catch her because he keenly observed and found out that she was a girl so he hit a different plan.

Henan was not some loli who would face difficulty in attacking on the neck, in fact she liked to hit and kill in single attack on neck, it would also spare her from extra effort and fear to get caught.

She had learned and practiced this move thoudsand times in her martial practice days.

Why bother a second attempt after all?

She gripped her dagger.

The guard was ready to grab her both hands and then shut her mouth before he could do his business first, then he would kill her and why bother to tell other, after all she died and that matters most for the sake of security.

A sharp dagger moved and prickling light suddenly flickered in his eyes and he staggered, just then the tip of the dagger sliced through his throat.

The body fell with a thud.

She was on considerable distance from the seventh castle so no one noticed a small thud.

It was near dawn.

She dug some soil and burried the body of the guard then collected and scattered the dry leaves on the fresh soil. From afar no one can tell that there was something suspicious about the swollen soil.

She hurried and left to reach her room before her maid came and notice her disappearance.
