Chapter 49 - LOTUS DAY (2)

He did not waste time, rode on his horse asking people, and was there any event.

He was sure that her mansion guards must have followed her because they were loyal to General Zhong.

Soon he found out that they were in this Si State.

What bothered him was that why they stayed here but after some queries, he found the answer, he smiled and sped toward the river.

It was not difficult for him to spot on them because they were standing on the less populated river bank and each of them was holding halters of their horses in one hand and in another hand lit lotus flower.

Henan was about to put her lit lotus in the water when another hand from her right side cupped her hand in his hand.

She looked at the rustic man, only when he smiled she gasped, this refined smile, it was only associated with one man.

He was also looking at her face which was disguised with some black marks but those eyes were only related to one woman. "Wan'er" she uttered in disbelief, "Hen'er" he preceded with a smile.

Both immediately shifted their eyes to river water because they felt guilty for each other in different ways.

Henan was guilty that she did not tell Wan Hu before she departed.

Wan Hu was guilty of many things, first he did not tell Henan that he saw his master, second he did not give the pendant, third his own father was involved to dispatch General Zhong and many more which he did not want to admit to himself as he cares for her, he did not intend to follow his father instead of his master.

His master once said to him, "If one falls form his morals, it does not matter whether he's dead or alive," and Wan Hu Shang pride his master for his morals though it was difficult for him to make choice between his father and his master now he had decided upon it.

The truth was that he was greatly affected by the disappearance of his master but he never thought that his father might be the culprit.

They let the lit lotus flower on the surface of river water.

Henan closed her eyes and prayed in her heart.

Wan Hu looked her praying.

After they were done, "I am sorry, I did not tell prior to my departure," she looked at Wan Hu and apologized.

"It's good that you silently left your mansion and did not tell anybody," he approved her decision by nodding his head.

He wanted to tell her that Martial Assassins were after her but it would be a notion that big officials were involved in this pursuit.

"Where are we heading?" he dropped the idea to tell about Martial Assassins pursuit.

"We intend to dinner here and rest for the night and next morning's resume our journey," she was sure that if they continued the journey without rest, few of them would fall ill and the situation would be irretrievable so she intends to stay in this Si State.

"No, we should take food and immediately leave this state and move forward," Henan was slightly surprised over his suggestion.

"We traveled all day long and needed a bit of rest," she casually pointed toward the inn. He took big steps and stopped her from entering in.

He suddenly gripped her hand that she felt dumb. She stepped back.

"They are coming in your way, we need to leave this Si State and resume our journey right now," Henan saw his beseeching eyes.

What else he could say or do, he was too ashamed to tell that his father had sent Martial Assassins to kill; hopefully, she did not ask who it was after her because Henan was well versed with the personality of Wan Hu Shang.

If he wanted to tell her he would have done when he came, if he did not want to tell, she would not ask.

They bought and ate their food and left Si State immediately.

It was not that he did not want to confront Martial Assassins but Henan was not prepared to face them, he could stand against them while with these loyal guards.

They fed their horses too and fled from the boundaries of Si State. It was the thirteenth night of the new moon and the next day on the fourteenth night of the new moon, Wan Hu was supposed to choose his bride in the grand ceremony of Palace.
