**Kaius' POV**
I slowly opened my eyes when I feel the warm sunlight caressing my face. I sat up and stretch, ready to start my morning routine. Outside, I could hear the birds chirping and the wind gently blowing the leaves. If I concentrate enough, I could smell the fragrance of freshly baked bread and omelet from the cafeteria through the open window. What a beautiful morning! Maybe if I go fast enough, there will be some strawberry jam left to go with my toast. Somewhat hurriedly, I climbed out of bed towards the bathroom to wash up, slightly humming to myself when I tripped over a lump on the floor, almost smashing my face on the (dirty) floor in the process. Thankfully, my reflex kicked in and my palm came in contact with the floor first, thereby preventing my beautiful face from being ruined. Cursing aloud, I glared at the lump on the floor that almost caused my demise, which turned out to be my stupid familiar. The girl (what was her name again? Silvera or something to do with her hair) snoozed on, ignoring the fact that she almost killed me. Irritated, I tried to wake her up. No matter what I do, she kept sleeping like a log. More or less annoyed with my ruined morning, I grabbed her arms and shook her awake. After what seemed like hours (but only just a few minutes), she groggily opened her eyes, and that was enough for me to let go of her. She fell back, her head hitting the pillow, and she groaned aloud. It didn't hurt that bad, did it? N-Not like I was worried or anything, I just didn't want my familiar to have a grudge on me, that's all!
Seeing that she was in fact still alive, I shrugged off her glare on me and went into the bathroom, leaving her there to do whatever girls do when they woke up.
I did my normal routine – taking a shower, brushing my teeth, combing my hair, etc. when I heard the door being opened and closed. Did that girl leave or something? I hurriedly put on my clothes and went outside to check. NO, I wasn't worried, just curious.
Much to my surprise, that girl was still in the room, talking with Prof Clea. In her hands was a bundle of clothes, so I guessed the prof must have brought that in just now.
"Platina, Kaius, the Headmaster would like to talk to you, please head there as soon as you are ready," the prof said.
Platina! That's what her name was. Weird name, if you ask me, seeing as her hair was more silver than platinum. What's the difference between silver and platinum, you ask? I don't know, I decided that her hair is silver, so it is silver.
Wait a minute… did the prof just said we have to see the Headmaster right away? That means I won't have time to eat breakfast! I was super hungry because I didn't get to have dinner yesterday due to the long discussion we had. Please don't take my breakfast away too!
Just when I was about to refuse, Prof Clea gave me a look that said "you can't refuse," so I grudgingly shut my mouth. It was never wise to go against my homeroom teacher. Goodbye breakfast, I'll see you tomorrow! *cue inner tears*
Platina had already disappeared into the bathroom with her new clothes, leaving me with the prof in awkward silence.
"You know professor, I need to change into my uniform," I made up an excuse for her to leave, I was not in the mood to act polite this early in the morning.
"Of course. I will leave you two, but remember to come to the Headmaster's office. I will see you in class." And she left.
I began drying my hair, tying it in a ponytail and started changing into my uniform (just because that was an excuse I made up didn't mean I wasn't planning to do it). Just as I was taking off my shirt, Platina (I remember it this time!) came out of the bathroom in a new outfit. Her eyes widened when she saw me and hastily turned away, blushing to the ears.
"Tell me ahead of time when you change, you idiot!" She yelled with her back facing me.
"What? Never seen a naked guy before?" I teased, eager to get a rile out of her. So I was a little sadistic, sue me.
I was expecting her to deny it (I bet she hated to lose), but instead, her reply was, "So what? I don't want the first naked guy I see to be you!"
"Jeez, it was just the top, calm down. I'll warn you next time, happy? And you can turn around now." I didn't feel like pushing further and making fun of her inexperience, simply because I wasn't one to talk. In fact, Platina was probably the first girl I've ever this close to, which was pretty sad since neither of us had a choice.
When she turned around, I had the chance to observe her more closely. I didn't pay much attention yesterday from the shock of my summoning gone wrong, but now, I realized how unusual her appearance was. Silver hair (not platinum!) flowed down her back and ended at the back of her thigh (must be hard to keep such long hair), skin a shade or two paler than me showed where her modest dress didn't cover (what is she, an albino?) and blood red eyes peering at me from under her long eyelashes. I supposed she must be what people called beautiful and exotic, but to me, it didn't mean much. A normal guy would be thanking the heaven for a chance to be with this beauty, but I was anything but typical.
She was also looking at me with a curious expression and started, "your ears…"
"I'm an elf, haven't you seen one before?" I answered her unfinished question.
"I have seen one or two before, but elves are extremely rare in my world and they tend to avoid humans."
"Really? The elves here coexist with humans pretty well, many of us even go to school and work as mages."
"I suppose every world is different. The elves in my world are said to be graceful and sophisticated, but from what I've seen from you, I guess I can't say the same about the elves here."
There it was again. Just when I decided to be peaceful for once, she just had to bite back. If it's a fight she wanted, then be my guest!
"Well, judging from what I've seen of you, humans in your world must be a bunch of barbarians who kill monster and messing up summoning for fun," I scoffed back.
"I'm only half human," she replied back. Now I was curious.
"Then what's the other half?" It made sense, given that silver hair and red eyes weren't a common trait amongst humans. She must have gotten those features from her other race.
"I'm not telling you. Don't we have somewhere else to be right now?" She indicated that it was the end of the discussion, and she will not say anything more on the matter.
I frowned (that was definitely not a pout!) at her non-cooperativeness before leaving the room, Platina in tow.
