She heard him mumble few curses when he kept on bumping on tables and chairs that have gone into a mess.
"My goodness. Your room is a mess. What have you been doing here? Are you trying to build a garden here?" Unable to keep a polite attitude, she immediately cut him off.
"Quit the introductions. Say what you want to say. I still need to pack." she closed the door behind her.
If she's willing to tolerate his childishness from before, today had become a lot different. She put a big 'X' in his face to cross him out. E for enemy. Like a hurricane in the highest level. Need. To. Stay. Away.
"Where are you going? Has the hospital already called you? I thought you had that schedule by next week." he asked, surprised.
"Come on Chryxso. You did not barge in my room just to ask for my itenerary, didn't you?" she sarcastically asked.
He grew silent and looked hurt. What great acting! But if he's really hurt then... Well, you should be.
She's also hurting and will definitely take her revenge. She never felt this pain in her life. Nobody ever made her feel unwanted.
Yes, finally she admit it. She's getting annoyed for his outright rejection of her. What was that? He likes her alright but he didn't like liking her? What is she? A germ?
"I guess I deserve that," he extended his hand to feel for the edge of the bed and sat there.
"You do." she crossed her arms, her voice cold as ice.
"I'm sorry." was the only thing he said after a long moment of silence. Mayu pursed her lips for what seemed like forever and when she found her voice again, she spoke.
"Okay."
"So?" Chryxso prolonged asking, probing what she meant. She answered right away.
"Okay, I forgive you. Now get out of my room." he still did not move. She bit her lips in frustration and walked towards him.
"I'm forgiving you now, do you understand?" she asked, making sure they are communicating well. She hated herself for being too kind but she hated the feeling of being burdened with emotions more.
"Now that you've already said you peace and I've also forgiven you, can you please get out of my room and let's move on with our lives. Come on, you're not the only busy person here. I have also lots of things in my hands." she said, urging him to go away. Forgiven or not, she's going home.
"I can't." he struggled to say those words. Mayu shrugged her shoulders and let out a sigh.
"But of course," she walked towards him to guide him out but he spoke again, trying so hard to say the words stuck in his own throat.
"Can you at least come with me tonight." she facepalmed. Here we go again. Somebody really wants to die tonight!
"Chryxso, I already forgave you. I'm not holding any grudges as well so if you could just please stop talking about that date. My head will explode in irritation now." she gritted her teeth as she spoke, trying so hard to be as tolerant as possible.
"I understand. Can you join me for dinner?" she stared at him and drew a sharp breath. Mayu counted to ten before her breathing steadied. She saw that his face is devoid of any emotion.
What is this block of wood planning to do this time?
"I'm still full-" she tactly refused.
"One last time. You said you're not mad anymore." she exhaled sharply. He's quite right Mayu, just go with him for now otherwise he'll think you're holding grudges. But I'm holding grudges! Her mind screamed.
"Fine," she didn't want to go into any discussion anymore. We'll just eat, right? Nothing bad would befell them if they eat. She guided him out of the room.
"Can you call Glenn?" he handed her his own phone as they sat in the living room which she took and dialed Glenn's number. No one answered.
"No answer. He may be busy." she gave him back his phone. Mayu, you can do this. Don't kill him, you're a good person. Can I punch him?
"Ha? I made him prepare the dinner today." she saw frustration in his face. Mayu made face. I seriously wanted to punch him!
"Chryxso, I not going on a date with you." she stated.
"It's not a date at all. It's just plain dinner. I wanted to treat you for the lunch you prepared before. I already talked to him about it and he even agreed. Where is that guy when you need him?" he muttered. Pitying the single father, she snatched his phone from him.
"I'll try to call their house." she dialed Glen's home phone. She got to speak with the guy's mother. She told her that he just came in to visit his daughter but he also left.
She relayed the same information to the guy beside him. They're sitting side-by-side in the living room.
"That explains it." he said disappointedly.
"Let's just ask old Naning to cook you food." letting her kind self take over, she consoled him. There you go, I've become this person's slave again.
"That won't do. I sent them away to watch a movie." he frowned.
"Then, I'll go cook." he sighed.
"I'm afraid you can't." she rolled her eyes and did not hide her growing anger as she loudly sneered.
"Hey mister block of wood, remember that I just forgave you and here you are picking on my cooking skills. Do you have a death wish?" he chuckled.
"I'm happy your back now."
"I did not leave!" she snapped.
"Doesn't matter. Anyway, you really won't be able to cook as they do the groceries today and those people responsible for those groceries are most propably chowing down on popcorn, watching a movie. They will definitely arrive late." What? So there's no food for me?
"Ugh, how can we eat now? Why did you send them to watch movie of all times today? My stomach minions will protest." Hah, how stupid can this person get? I really want to knock him out now! Just one. Just one punch! Please?
"Call him again," she heard him say.
"Huh?" She looked at him and got annoyed again. I'm hangry!
"Glenn. Call him again. He may just have left his phone somewhere." she tooma deep breath to control herself and obliged. The phone rang.
"Yeah, he answered! Glenn, my man, where have to gone off to-"she never finished her litany as she already heard Chryxso's voice on the other line. She stiffened and cast a doubtful glance towards the guy.
Are they trying to pull her leg this time? She looked beside her seatmate, he remained seated in silence but she could see his fingers playing around the armrest of the sofa.
She's very familiar with this type of behavior- he's anxious. She can still hear his voice from the other line. This feels. Weird.
"Hi, can you hear me? Oh no matter. I know you're staring at me right now wondering how I got on the other line while you're just sitting here beside me. Introducing the recorder." she heard him laugh from the other line. She just rolled her eyes. Rascal.
"I sincerely wanted to apologize for the earlier happenings at my office. I'm so so sorry. I did not mean to say those word to you. I never meant it that way. It's just that the feeling is so overwhelming for me and that I'm finding it difficult to handle. Glenn called me stupid, saying I'm already inlove. I don't want to just arrive on that conclusion and want to clarify my feelings first then possibly take it slow with you." Mayu held her breath and felt jittery all over.
"You see, I've been very preoccupied by another woman before you came to my life. I mean she means all the world to me, you do know that, right?" she glowered at him. Seriously, you have to reiterate that it's Ellaine you like? Help me not kill this man!
"Don't look at me like that. I just said those because that has been my life before I met you." he stated matter-of-factly.
"The very first day I met you, I know a big part of my life is bound to be changed. I never doubted my instincts. You see, I've never been the same since you came into my life. Don't get it wrong. I've been a better man. I don't understand how it happened but I know I am. That's all thanks to you." as he continued to speak on the other line, Mayu unconsciously smiled.
"I already told you earlier that I'm starting to like you. It's a lie. I know I already like you. What I meant was I think--" No! Mayu shouted in her mind in horror. It's not what I think, is it?
"I love you," why is he confessing like this? I'm swooning. I'm swooning. Stop! Stop! Breath. She wiped the tears that escaped her eyes. Shit!
