Kristoff brought his phone to the bathroom and put it on mute as he showered. He heard her stir which got him to stop the running water, he unmuted the phone and tried to listen in if she's having those 'dreams' again. When he heard nothing, he continued on his shower.
He propped his phone on his side table and let her steady breathing lull him to sleep. He woke up when he heard her stirring awake so he hung up the phone call and sent her a message.
"I just woke up. Sorry, I forgot to tell you." Which she always replies with.
"Good morning, too!"
Mayu forced her eyes to stay awake and went on her first day of work and Chryxso has to regretfully go to work with her. He keeps taking the offer back but her ears are closed. She initially doesn't want to make him go to work but she'd be more concerned if he just sulks in the corner with his broken heart.
Her first day is a little clumsy. She either doesn't know what to do or she doesn't understand what they're talking about. Chryxso eventually had to explain these things to her when he didn't hear her respond anymore.
Reika was right, he is a great boss. He seldom complains and has little requests. Little by little, she eventually got herself immersed into the job. By the third day, only complex technicalities would make her scratch her head.
She also gives a daily report to her brother who checks on her. She never clarified that she did not left the Aresta's residence but he knows that she's temporarily working as an assistant now. He listens to her complaints and frustrations until she falls asleep.
As always, she keeps her phone on. She wanted to get him to stop it but did not say it anyway. Maybe she's already used to it or knowing that her brother is just on the other line makes her feel safe.
Few more weeks have passed and her daily bickering with Chryxso no longer feels annoying. He still annoys her on his free time but she learned to be understanding and even plays around his tricks, which he did not mind. His mind and mood is more at ease now than from a couple of days.
They also eat their meals without getting into any arguments now. Sometimes, their discussion relating to work gets them antsy but they deal with these matters within the confines of the office only and when they get back home, they'd be back to their bickering selves again.
The older Aresta may have been stuck where he still is right now as she hadn't heard any news from him. She's just hoping and praying for his safety.
"Get up, we're leaving." Chryxso just growled as Mayu wakes him up again. It's another day at work but his body is feeling the other way. She shook his sleeping body again but he just pulled the blanket over his head, still unwilling to move. She just yanked it off of him. He grabbed a pillow next and covered his face with it, desperate to get more sleep. Mayu grimaced, tugged the pillow from him and used the same pillow to smash him with it.
"What the hell!" he suddenlly jerked from the bed, his eyes just half-open and his hair still a mess. His forehead is on a knot and his face contorted in a way that you can't describe.
"You need to go to work today," he growled again and laid back on his bed.
"Let's just skip the day today, okay?" he pleaded. This woman is a very hard worker. You make her work once and she gets slaved to work forever.
"Nope, you got a scheduled conference call from possible investors."
"Let Airi handle those matters. She's already trained to do those." Airi is the company's vice-president.
"Nope, not possible."
"And why is that?"
"She told you she'll be on a one month leave, you don't remember?" He fell silent for a while as if scanning his memory and upon realization, he smacked his forehead.
"Just cancel that conference. My head is really hurting. I won't be able to foc-. Dammit! What'd you do that for?" he overturned from his bed in shock, his body drenched in water. She decided to help him wake up by dumping him a pitcher full of water that was just set on his side-table.
"I said, you gotta get up." she's still maintaining her composure, I'm not losing this.
"Didn't you hear me? I said my head hur-" she tweaked his nose as he speak. He just yelp and begrudgingly followed.
"I heard you. Your head aches but you can't use that as an excuse to get off work and cancel that deal today. You need to close that deal or else a huge chunk of your employees will lose their job." the guy happened to have a seasonal job offer provided recently and he'd been busily looking into new job offers he can provide to his employees during off season.
"Can't we just give them compensation instead for the time being?" she tried to haul his huge chunk of a body towards the bathroom and opened the shower. I thought being an assistant is glamorous. Why am I becoming a weightlifter by the day? She complained.
"Take a bath first," she just said like she did not hear anything of what he said and closed the door.
"Yumi." she heard him call from inside.
"I told you to take a bath now," Mayu decided to be firm on this.
"Give me my towel," he called out.
"Hold on," she ransacked his cabinet looking for his towel. Where is that towe-. She gulped down when she opened his drawer and saw his undergarments instead. Oh, wow!
"What is taking you so long?" Chryxso is now suddenly standing behind her. She felt all the hairs of her body stand and stood stiffly. I haven't given him any towel yet, why is he already here? She gulped down in panic.
"What are you doing behind me? Did you already finish bathing?" she dared not look behind her. Go back inside, spare me from sinning!
"Something wrong?" he turned her body to face him. Huhuhu. Please forgive me sir, I did not mean to rape your grandson. She shut her eyes and tried to feel for his clothes from his drawer until she held a towel in her hand. She pushed the towel to his dripping body and hurriedly walked away from him.
"I had your clothes laid down on your bed. I'll be outside waiting for you." She opened her eyes and breathed some air after she closed the door to his room.
"How do expect me to wear those?"
"For Pete's sake!" she jumped in shockwhen she heard him behind her again. Does this guy teleport?
"We don't have anyone name Pete here so don't bet on it. You do your job." he pulled her back to his room.
"No, please? Don't!" She kept her eyes closed and yelped.
"What?" she opened her tightly closed eyes, Chryxso is wearing his pants now.
"Oh, you have your pants on now." she contorted her face when she realized what she just said. Fortunately, he did not seem to detect anything from what she just said.
"I already had my pants on. I just need your help with my upper suit, what is so difficult with that?"
"Eh."
"What kind of answer is that? Come and help me already. You've been rushing me to work earlier and now you're causing delay. Are you planning anything sneaky again?"
"No! It's not like that. It's just..It's.." she stammered her reply. Chryxso's forehead is still on a knot as he impatiently listened to her but his face suddenly brightened with a teasing smile.
