Chapter 1 - Morning Before

The Year is 2129, phenomena or anomalies as they are known as appeared within the month of June. Like a cataclysm it decimating areas of the world where they corporealised destroying areas like malevolent entities done as if warping reality to its whim. In the wake of this disaster, a new profession was born.

The analysers

These venerated individuals seek to understand these phenomena and may one day solve their mysteries to better people's lives in their utilisation or in the least, reduce casualties

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The world before him was fire, the seas ran red with blood, the floors made from skulls of uncountable numbers, the skies pulsated with red showering the world bellow with fire reaping a terrible toll. the sound of war echoed through this world, blades crashing, blood-curdling cry's of slaughter could be heard echoing from everywhere in the vast expansive.

Rugged breathing could be heard.

Running as fast as a person could muster ,A grim sprint that of prey running from the inevitable but never the less they struggle and continue there grim race ,turning to look back at what has cuased this would be the greatest regret which will befall him.

Looking back ,He shuddered

A massive bolt of energy flew from on high like a twin-tailed comet, as the malevolent fire approached images corporealised in his mind sowing doubt and fear in his mind, as he ran images overlayed onto his eyes of a human yet not human, he did not care and kept running, as he ran he looked at the appearance more which touched his senses ,skin of crimson ,canines bared and snarling ,eyes glowing yellow ,wings of black sprouted as if in response to his gaze showed its dark display with heavy hand it wielded something disproportionate and ghastly ,As the being lifted its weapon and swayed it down the world shuddered, as it shot down it rent reality, the world rang as if subverting to the being wrath it shuddered once more and his sight faded to black faded to black.

A ghoulish figure stirred awake cold sweat falling from his brow.

' too vivid' the figure pondered even though it was a nightmare but as he pondered the tendrils of that false world like a gong reciprocated the shuddering world into his being, he felt intensely groggy and confused. Looking up from his dimly lit desk covered with his drool he peered out the window.

Grim clouds littered the skies some split and light shone through the sundered clouds.

As the light cascaded down a dim light of a dying bulb gave a pathetic glow to the desk illuminating it dimly gave out like it subverting to a greater being, as sun shafts pierced the room and shone through the window a figure could be seen, A man decrepit and destitute through being ,He looked up to the sky and saw nothing of note , only ominous clouds gathered beyond his sight .

Illuminated his figure with crystal clarity you could see the ghoulish features with grey-blue eyes and hair unkempt, as the light shafts pierced the sky the dingy room was revealed.

The man stood up from his endeavours into his scholarly pursuits, books lay strewn, scattered around the ground as if in a dump.

As he raised from his stupor the groggy feeling intensified encroaching on his being which baffled his senses as he stumbles out of the worn and decayed wooden chair then further stumbling like a child taking his first steps through his small abode.

He liked the place. Books detailing Biology, Physics, chemistry & those more abstract to understand where some of the many books which littered his abode.

Zealously he jolted up from his unsteady position wishing to wash away his groggy state and his cold sweat. As he walked towards the shower he backpedalling every so often feeling wheezy at intervals as if shaken in a roller-coaster and needing to recover from the trauma. As he fell over like a drunk man; he fell on his own pile of books and quick cook foods to barely sustain him.

Mason walked into the toilet let off his clothing in a pile in a corner and headed into the shower. Using the shower he lazily woke himself, As he exited the groggy feeling stayed like an unwanted pest which could not be removed, he put it up to the time he spends on books, Also that dream, that dream seemed to affect him more than he wanted to admit.

He changed into a white lab-suit and took the elevator down the floor for the exit to the biking lane, He biked due to the close proximity of his work; also he wanted to help his poor state physical state. He looked down in disappointment and saw a skeletally thin body and sighed. As he looked to his surroundings he mused how he was lucky to be in a region where civilisation still thrived and where the phenomena did not ravage with its ravenous hunger.

With haste, he left the building he stayed in towards his work.

As he arrived the great building in the distance shot into the very skies with its majesty, a monument to humanity's resilience even at the precipice of annihilation, it was the great hub within the barren landmass which was not devastated, its floors would be rented for many uses but only 1 thing would be constant in this ever-changing place.

The Analysers quarters, a chalk white roof and floor contemporary design and with a minimalist touch so that focus would be ensured would forever be inside this building as long as it stayed testament to humanity's resilience.

He arrived at a building built high, its size was piercing the sky's like the tower of Babel, he could still not stop himself from gawking at the wonder even though he has seen its majesty many times over.

He walked with an uneasy stride as the groggy feeling was now manageable, he walked through reception without a word and the only greeting he offered his co-workers was a nod and a grimace like smile. Mason didn't know any of their names nor his own boss.

He silently passed security and input his personal code the elevator flashed floor 75, with a message plastered on the screen.

Welcome Analysers Mason.

Its speed did not help his groggy feeling and he felt like putting the contents of his stomach onto the floor.

Mason strode out of the hellish elevator and gave a few curt nods to the receptionists and entered into the main area, A area filled with glass-encased offices where you could see everyone's toil in their occupations, everyone's face was filled with dismay wracking there heads around whatever problem they were presented.

He entered his office which was encased by glass walls with white ceiling floor tiles they were like pure white marble gleaming pristinely. As he worked in solitude he saw people talking outside as they walked through the tight corridors. Due to Masons ghoulish looks, he was never able to exactly get the time of day to exchange pleasantries with co-workers, his work was enjoyable and due to his unsocial attitude, it was still a good environment for him as he could not hold conversations as he was prone to a daydreaming appearance.

When working through the day on some of the filings the groggy feeling intensified, Mason was used to this feeling as he had these fits may it be onset of sleep deprivation or illness he was used to discomfort ,he mused how funny it is to be inured to discomfort as from what he read ,those who lived in the years before revealed in a time of peace and comfort.

Once he settled in when the clock passed 4, His boss checked on him and the only interaction was a glance of acknowledgement and he put the report on his desk then left. The report detailed a lightning anomaly or so it has been nicknamed as which will result in the disappearance or presumably death of the individual if it coalesces and the only thing normally left is a black marked ground and will currently results in a 100% mortally rate when it appears, These phenomena followed no logic or could follow some hidden pattern, it was his job to try to understand and decipher these patterns. these phenomena were attracted to certain current he believed ;specifically human electrode firing and deducted it was not malevolent but might as well of been, he gruellingly worked from this conjecture but found it hard to understand anything more as these phenomena as they were very mysterious in nature and to be honest all of this is still just stipulations.

Groggy and disjointed by the stroke of the clock once it passed 8pm this innocent groggy feeling turned to a dread premonition putting him in a state akin to a paraplegic now being unable to move while shaking; he cupped his head cold sweat fell from his wrinkled brow and stayed there with his hair on end like he saw a ghost .

Slowly the clock ticked, tick tock tick tock ever ringing in Mason's psyche.
