"No," Alex shook his head courteously. "I will not leave without the others."
"Have you been paying attention to anything I have been saying?" Nimrod asked, the looks on his face showed that he was not pleased with Alex at the moment.
"I heard you clearly, and I understand everything you said," Alex looked back at Nimrod. The crease on the boy's face made him become suddenly old. How had he felt when it dawned on him that his mother had manipulated them and had mounted an attack on the resistance without cares for the life and the people living here? Alex looked away, this time to the leading step. No Keeper had shown up again, but he couldn't say for how long.
"I ran away from home once," Alex continued, without looking at Nimrod, "And I will not do that again."
"Huh? Can you hear yourself talk," Nimrod hissed, not bothering to hide the alarm on his voice, "The last time you ran away from home you did so just to save a life"
