The first thing to see is the fur, black with a hint of a dark blue. The next most noticeable feature is most certainly the forearms. From the thin arm and shoulders to the elbow, the thickness of the arm not counting the fur would be at home on a thin human being - the forearms, however, would be far from the usual.
The first comparison could be drawn to that of a bear. Simply looking at the 'hand' would be enough to strike fear into the hearts of normal men. Rippling with muscle, he could feel the crushing force within. They were long enough to reach past his knees, as if he was some form of monkey. The paw was tipped with brutal looking nails; more aptly referable as claws. On the paw were pads, soft to the touch; one on the center of the palm, larger then the rest, and more at on the print area of the respective fingers, of which there was five. The mismatch in thickness between his forearm to paw, and the rest of his body, would be humorous if it wasn't first terrifying.
The size and posture next came into view. In the ripple-less pool, a slightly hunched over creature the size of the average elementary school child could be seen.
The last- and what was far from the least- was the face. Flat, devoid of the light fur on the rest of his body. Cat like eyes, slit down the middle. The face, blacker then the darkest night. The features of the face, while unusual, were not overly different from that of a human's; two eyes, one small nose, and a thin lipped mouth. If not for the eyes and unusual skin color, he could consider himself having the face a pretty cute kid.
(This... is me? Of things I can remember, I know I was human. But what changed? And who was I? And where was I from?)
Then from the depths of his murky mind, a name surfaced.
"...Simon. My name is... Simon."
A new being has risen in a new place.
