Chapter 8 - The Boyz

You are my START,

Let me be your END.

'Few people know BTS as a gang. They always managed to keep their identity secret precisely. Do you know about their recent assault? The clash that happened between them and the police?'

'Uh, if you are talking about the one from a few months ago…I read about it, where a gang encountered the police, then they shot a number of officers and managed to escape but, was that…BTS?'

'You do know about it a bit I see. No one knows who that gang was but the department strongly suspects that it was an act by them. Of those police officers who were killed, one of them was a very intimate friend of the boss. So, even though he never said it aloud, all know that he is taking it to a bit of personal level. To the outside world, they are known as an idol group which makes the situation more difficult. We don't have any evidence and no one will believe them to be a notorious gang without.'

'And the fandom is always there to save them too. They will literally start protests if their idols are accused of anything, which may later lead to some kind of a riot. They are brainwashing and using the fandom as a shield.' l spoke to me. Ah! This all makes perfect sense now. I have to admit, they are so goddamn smart. Aren't they?

'But,' to me, the most confusing part was, 'why are they working as a gang if they are an idol group? I mean, when they have got everything, fame, money, and power, even love and support from the fans, what else do they require for which they are working and doing crimes in disguise?'

'We don't know and that we gotta find out.' As she tilted her hand, an image of a tall member appeared.

'You've seen him. That's Rap Monster, a.k.a Kim Namjoon. 23-year-old super smart with IQ 148, rapper, leader and the brain of the group. He is most possibly the planner and the one who controls everything.

From Ilsan, he was a meritorious student but he had to give up his studies later due to poverty. His appearance resembles so much to one person...but there's no guarantee to the info, yet I think you need to know the littlest thing the resources got us.' She paused for a bit to organize her next words, 'There was an underground duo, Runch Runda & Gloss, abbreviating them to R-loss is what others call them as. They weren't that infamous, just everyday minor thieves, to say. But once there was a break-in to a commercial bank, the robbers took some prior files along with the cashes. Somehow R-loss's name got into the case. Local police couldn't apprehend the perpetrators. But they had to keep their image, so they put it all to the suspect to come near and threw R-loss to jail. Two months after, they broke out of prison and after that no one saw them again.' She took a glimpse of my attentive face.

'Rap Monster's face somewhat matches to the guy Runch Runda.' She said, 'Even though it's a year-ago incident, and there is no good photo of the R-loss people. As I said, there's no guarantee to the info. It's just a withheld suspicion and that's all. None of us knows if he's it.'

'Other than him, who was the guy Gloss?'

'Gloss is thought to be- wait I'll get to it, step by step.' She swiped the holograph to the next member, 'That was pretty much it in brief about the leader. Now, next is- Kim Seokjin.

The oldest member. Vocalist and visual of the group. He was the son in a rich family, nothing there he lacked. But then, not everything rich and luxury is good on this earth. He ran away at 18 from his house to Seoul. He was in a runaway fam, he was one of the hostel leaders too as per to what our source got up. But later he escaped and joined the homeless people (webtoon Lookism reference) for the time. He lived working in different places. He worked the longest at city-distant ammunition, for about two years. He is strongly suspected to be involved in carrying out the assassinations by himself among all other members. If not, he leads. And of course because he has an acute knowledge about guns. Though his acts towards others seem a bit cruel, he is really caring for his fellow members. Be sure not to fall under his charms.

This guy, Min Yoongi, Stage name Suga. He is the coldest one of all and he doesn't even try to hide it either. Now, ask me about the other member of R-loss, because source says he was the one.'

My eyes widened, 'He was Gloss?'

'That's what it seems like. He is like someone who can kill anybody without even hesitating for a second. You will have to remain most cautious around him. Because if he finds out that you're a secret agent, he will instantly shoot you down for sure.'

'Well as if he's going to shoot me and I will remain standing there like a statue waiting for him to click his trigger! He was the one who shot me in the leg. And I swear I will not miss a chance to give him back his favor.' I interrupted with a sarcastic voice, cringing my face with aversion and anger remembering the previous scene.

'No Y/N, you are not being sent to take revenge or something. Remain professional. Leave the shooting part to us.' I shrugged, 'Carry on.'

'Alright,' she moved to the next image, 'That's J hope. Real name Jung Hoseok. He's a rapper and lead dancer. As per his sayings, he's everyone's hope, everyone's angel. Or a devil under the face?' she snickered.

'What was he before he came as a member of BTS?'

'Of all, he is the one who did things less, so it seems according to our resource department. He was a computer student at a time and also used to work as a part-time programmer in the pastime. He was like all other students, average and the invisible one. Other than that, he loved to dance and participated in street dance battles quite often. Once, for some reason, he got fired from his part-time job. Later wo weeks after, he was arrested by the police with the accusation on him which implied he hacked down the website of the company he worked in and leaked all the customers' information. He denied it all at first, then said he was mad at his boss, he was stringent and treated everyone condescendingly, also he never paid enough even if he did overtime then fired him on no reason. He still didn't accept his guilt. He was held in custody for a week, but police couldn't find a piece of good evidence against him, so they had to set him free. However, he did have to face other consequences. His school had rusticated him, his father kicked him out. He left home for Seoul and never did go back. He lived on street dancing in Seoul. His mother gave him financial support as much as she could. News about him were all buried down after he joined BTS, the people who slightly acknowledged it took it as just a false rumor afterward, but it is not.

He always remains jolly and positive in front of the camera and the fans. However,…when it comes to crime missions of them, he's verily the opposite. Besides, since he is quite the computer whiz as per what is seen, must come in handy in their work.

Next up is Park Jimin,' she said the name, which I was most accustomed to of all, 'Hmph...this guy...although we could find out at least a little bit about all the members, there was nothing about him that we could find out. All that we know he was in a dance school, where some issues took place for which he transferred to Busan High later, in the same high school where Taehyung, the other member was. And he was from a poor family.

He has quite a baby face on a toned muscular body, which he never forgets to use when is required. He is like Siren, tends to create a distraction and misdirect the opponent enemies while the other members get to escape. That's it about him.

Kim Taehyung. Like J hope, he is quite funny, jolly and also, the opposite version of what he presents as an idol, the cold and aggressive. Even though he was later in the same high school as Jimin, they were never seen together. So, probably they weren't friends that much that time. Taehyung was a village boy. His parents sent him to the city school to get a better education, but he befriended with some delinquents and ruined himself. They did some stuff. When got caught, they fooled Taehyung and left him as the only one standing at fault. Taehyung was decimated, he went to depression and out of people's sight for a while. Then people found him going as a Big Hit trainee so they thought, he left everything back and started to get back to life again. He is the wizard of escape paths. He is seen to have a really sharp memory. So, even if any emergency comes by their way or if their exit path gets blocked, he always is seen successful in leading himself and the other members out through one way or another, however is possible. The reason why they survived that previous clash. Pretty smart, isn't he?

Last but not least, Jeon Jungkook. He is like the Rock. Strong, callous, is suspected to accomplishing the important parts of their gang crimes, as he is stronger than all. Good luck never seemed a rare pearl to him. He was happy, had a good life and a lovely family. Like Jimin, we couldn't find out much about him either, but yeah- his life and he himself changed after he decided to come to the city to audition for entertainment companies to support his family. Unfortunately, he was robbed on the street, that left him completely broke and alone, no one to help him, a solo under the bright and cruel city's shady lights. No one knows what happened to him after that, but he never...came back.'

I exclaimed, 'What?'

'Yeah. His family searched for him everywhere. He was nowhere to be found. The audition centers were inquired about him but they found out, he never went to any of them. Two years passed, his family had broken down completely in his loss. One morning, his mom found him sitting on the doorstep, frozen and his heart almost without beats on the verge of death. His cloth was stripped and torn at parts, several bruises were there on his neck and back. He was taken to the hospital. He passed quite some time there, then he came back to his real life. He would never talk about it when asked where he was in these two years. His family was happy getting him back, they didn't need to know anything else. He changed after that, like changed a lot. When he told his family that he wants to go to Big Hit, they didn't want him to. But since it was the first time he spoke and wanted something for once after that horrific two years, they just let him do what he wanted. So, here is he now. The company paid well enough so that any false news can't get spread and took well care to protect his personal life. Now, he's doing well...

I have sent some links to your phone to check more about the members. Study every part of them, from how they behave, how they work, how they think, how they communicate with each other, Everything.'

'You will be joining as the assistant manager of BTS. You are a rookie and you will be working in there in order to gather experience. We are not sure but maybe the manager is also connected to the gang-BTS. Your job will be gathering information then reporting to us. Like- if any suspicious activity of them catching your sight so that we can catch them red-handed on spot.'

I took the files in my hand. 'This is a huge case Y/N. Handle it properly. If you succeed, your reputation will go much high but if you fail, you'll lose all that you have accrued till now. It's more like a do or die.

I will remain connected with you all the time. Anyways, sir had told me to send you to him after handing you over all the information. Maybe he just wants to give you some more precautions and advice for this case. Better go and meet him now.'

'Okay.' I released a deep breath as my fingers kept swiping over the pages of the files. My intuition was thoroughly correct. I met BTS twice, and I am going to meet them thrice too. Then for fourth, fifth, sixth…for countless times next...

Seems like I was given another chance to rectify my earlier stupid mistake. This time I am not going to make any fault and will not get distracted at any cost. This one case is not going to change my record.

'In no way, I am going to lose my reputation of prowess as an agent.' I spoke to myself. And in no freaking way, a gang like BTS will be able to do that.

'Can you tell me what is the most important part of your mission, Y/N?'

'I know,' I replied.

'Never blow up your cover.'
