Chereads / Immorally Impractical Immortal / Chapter 13 - Phyrraium

Chapter 13 - Phyrraium

"Dante, look I understand that you want to help, but you're only six." Arius said, albeit a bit calmly. It was probably a side effect of Dante's healing.

"No! I'm actually almost 700." Dante denied the claim.

Dante quickly looked away from the wound and grabbed the nail from Pierre, he took it and stabbed himself in the arm. Granted, it was an intense way to prove his immortality, it still worked.

Both Pierre and Arius were dumbfounded, as well as Zuna who was about eight feet away. They stared silently as the nail fell to the ground, and the badass Dante sat back down to focus on Arius's wound. It was safe to say that they wouldn't make anymore assumptions about Dante, in fear that he would show them what else he was capable of.

"This will take awhile. Pierre, you can go back to the car now." Dante told them. He was really acting mature at that moment, completely losing his childish cuteness.

After watching Arius be completely rebuked by Dante, Pierre didn't have any qualms about listening to the small child. He nodded before walking away quickly.

It had been a little over twenty minutes, everything was silent for the most part. No one could tell what was going on inside Arius's mind. Pierre could guess though. It was likely excitement for finding Dante, although perhaps it was also anxiety. Arius was probably racking his mind for some kind of answer as to where Dante had come from.

"Dante?" Arius started. "Is your brother also immortal?"

"Mhm." Dante hummed to confirm Arius's belief. His eyes were focused on the closing hole in Arius's leg.

"How about your parents?"

"Only my mom." Dante started to look a bit sad. "But she's dead."

"Dead?" Arius was confused, if his mother was immortal, how could she be dead.

"Yea, there is a way for immortals to die." Dante said. The information that slapped Arius in the face was unexpected, in fact both him and Zuna were astonished.

"How?!" Arius and Zuna asked eagerly at the same time. Zuna had gotten closer, but not by much.

"Hush, I'm busy." While Dante liked the enthusiasm, he was in the middle of helping Arius with his leg.

It had been about ten minutes before the wound started turning into scarred tissue. Dante took his hand away, Arius was healed up enough.

Arius looked his leg over, then his gaze travelled in Dante's direction. "So, you can heal people?" He didn't really know exactly what Dante had been doing the past thirty minutes, but he definitely felt the lack of pain.

"Mhm. I'm sorry I didn't tell you." Dante nodded. Arius smiled, then lifted his hand to mess up Dante's light brown hair.

Arius's smile momentarily disappeared as he looked at Dante seriously. "You need to start telling me these things. Or else I can't protect you, understand?" When he nodded, Arius went back to smiling.

Zuna watched as Arius stood up and picked up Dante. She had sat down awhile ago, so she stood up aswell. "Hey." She spoke anxiously. "How can immortals die?"

"Dante?" Arius asked aswell.

Dante looked back and forth between them. "It's a crystal called Phyrraium. When you hold it, you are no longer immortal."

"Phyrraium?" Arius was stunned. He'd never heard of that word before, and he was immortal. He figured there would be some sort of trick to dying, but it was a stone.

"What does it look like?" Zuna looked over at Dante with her clear Hazel eyes.

"I'm not sure. I only know the name because my brother mentioned it a few times." Dante answered.

"Then, we should go find your brother, right?" She asked without thinking.

"Wait, 'We'?" Arius asked with a teasing smile.

"Sorry for not asking first, but isn't that why you came to find me? To have me join you?" Zuna tilted her head sarcastically.

"Alright then, I accept you as part of the team." Arius nodded in approval, but Zuna simply scoffed.

"Are you coming with us?" Dante asked.

"I can't. I'd end up killing that guy in the car." She shook her head.

Arius looked at her and turned around to walk towards the car. "No, you're coming with, we'll just leave Pierre here."
