Cerin frowned as she sprinted from the thundering beast behind her. Her short but powerful legs hustled through branches and over logs as she lured the hog that chased her.
3...2...1.
She internally counted. As she hit zero she jumped high and grabbed onto a vine, temporarily hovering in the air before pulling herself upwards and onto the branch. She left the boar to fall into the hole she had previously dug, filled with large spikes.
There was a vaguely annoyed look in her face as she strung the bow from her high vantage point and aimed it at the pig's head, squarely planting the arrow in its eyeball.
The young woman ran around the hole and picked up the edges of the net she had placed into the hole and lifted the carcass upwards. Digging her heels into the soft soil and using all the strength she had to lift the large boar.
After this, I should invest in a lifting bar...or an assistant to help me do this.
After an hour of desperate struggling, she finally managed to lift the beast that was about half her height on all fours up out of the hole and began dragging it to the small hut on the edge of a cliff she called home.
The hog was put over a large pit with a small but steady fire roaring over it and Cerin watched it roast with drool dripping from her thin and cracked lips. She shook herself out of her daze and began preparing for the feast of the first hunt of the season.
The young woman quickly pulled out the padded chair from her room, the radio from the kitchen and the alcohol from the cellar then headed over to the cliff side to pick some seasonings for the soup.
She tied a rope to the pole she had planted and began to descend until about the middle of the cliff, it was a dangerous drop that would be deadly if she were to take it. Yet, there was no fear in her bright eyes as she slowly swung herself in order to reach the herbs easier.
It was then that two things that shouldn't have happened, happened.
The first was a curious wild beast that's wandered over to the pole and began to chew at the rope and the other was the even larger beast behind it that scared it into fleeing with the rope still in its mouth, Cerin watched in horror as she watched the rope snap under the sharp teeth and drag both her and the unfortunate beast that was too startled to let the rope go down the deep ravine.
As she fell a few thoughts flew through her mind.
But... my pork... My alcohol...my evening drama!
These regrets, as insignificant as they may have seemed were enough to propel her towards that green star, faster than the speed of a rocket
