Chapter 1 - A Guest

Louise woke up feeling heavy, due to drinking and crying last night. She cried her problems away and now she was feeling a bit refreshed.

"I must have been feeling lonely, I even dreamt about having someone to talk to last night.", she laughed bitterly.

She looked at the clock and started to stand up while yawning. Looking for her keys, she went to the living room. Louise was shocked by what she saw, a man in armor, sleeping deeply in her sofa. The man was muscular, but not burly, with blonde hair like a western depiction of a knight.

She pinched herself and closed her eyes, hoping that the man would be gone when she opened it. Realizing this was not a dream, she opened her eyes, and there she found the man no longer lying down on the sofa but standing in front of her.

"Do you have any alcoholic drinks left?", the man asked her.

Feeling scared, Louise nervously opened her mouth and shouted, "Get out!", with all her might while backing away from the man he did not know.

The man frowned, Louise clearly did not like his presence. This man was none other than Elliot Radcliffe. He did not want to leave, he was unfamiliar with this world, and this woman in front of her was the first person he encountered last night when he was forcefully thrown here. They talked last night while drinking and he was reluctant to part with the single entity he is close to in this whole galaxy.

"Madame, please let me stay here with you, I have nowhere to go", he said pleadingly.

Blinded with fear, Louise ran to the door and opened it.

"Please leave!"

Not wanting to hurt her, Elliot stays true to his chivalric code. He did not wish to harm those that do not carry weapons or are not really coming at him with the intent of harming him. He went out of the door and as soon as he truly had left the room, Louise shut the door strongly and locked it quickly. She sighed deeply and her fear started to subside. Now that she was thinking clearly she started to remember the events of last night.

She was drinking alone, no, she was with someone, the man was there last night talking with her, she even offered the man to stay at her home if he had nowhere to go after being caught up in the moment, thinking it was some kind of dream.

"Ah, what should I do? I forgot what I said yesterday!", she muttered.

Louise keeps her promises, though it seems impossible, she wants to do her best to fulfill her promises. She immediately opened the door and looked outside and found that the man was not there. Knowing that she cannot find him easily in this large city, she sighed and just went inside to prepare for her part-time job on Monday mornings.

She worked every Monday and Friday morning, and also every weekends. She works in almost every free time she has. Louise was not poor, but she wanted to be independent, wanted to experience the real world.

Working on the cash register, greeting costumers, answering when asked, she started her day in fast food chain she worked in and was happy that it was the same old routine, a day like any other or so she thought.

"Hey can we take a picture of you?", a group of teenagers asked excitedly.

"Picture? What's that? Hey, stop that!", a man replied anxiously.

For some reason, she can't help but notice a tall blonde guy outside the store that was being surrounded by numerous teenagers and even some workers on their way to work.

"Well of course you'd get surrounded when you wear that kind of gaudy armor. Why is he in a costume anyway?", she muttered, resisting the urge to go out and help him.

Elliot was troubled, there were many persons surrounding him and seemed to excitedly pulled on him. They kept asking him to take a pose or to smile and even do some movements with his sword. He did these things except pulling out his sword, just the lightest swing of it may as well be the death of those near him.

While all this was happening, Louise's smile was beginning to cramp. She asked one of her co-workers to handle her station for a short while because she needs to get something from outside. Having done this, she went out and walked towards the group and the man outside. Elliot saw her and was about to call out to her but decided to not do so, he believed that she did not want to talk to him.

Louise walked and reached Elliot. She pulled Elliot who was dumbfounded into the store and started to glare at him.

"Stay here, why are you wearing armor anyway?", Louise said while continuing to lead Elliot to the staff's break room.

"Of course I need it; it is vital in battle."

She felt irritated at the man he was pulling along.

"Fine, keep your roleplaying but stop the cosplaying, that armor attracts too much unwanted attention.", she said as she was going to leave the room.

"Roleplaying? Cosplaying? What's that? Besides, I only have armors with me, oh, I have a robe too.", replied Elliot.

"Tsk. Fine, stay there, wait for me and don't go anywhere. Don't do anything weird."

Elliot looked on as Louise closed the door and left him alone in the room. He felt lonely as he was reminded of the fact that this really was another world. He tried to search for his home using his searching spells but to no avail, that was even after extending its range to 4000 light years away from this place, this planet was too far away to his own planet.

Elliot sighed and stayed there, waiting for the only one he knows in this world as he prayed that there may be information on how to return to his home world.

After Louise ended her job, she went to the staff's breakroom and found Elliot there sitting like when he left her, like an ancient statue, as impervious as mountains, and yet within this figure was a loneliness, deep as the oceans.

Louise looked at him, seemingly affected by his loneliness, she started to stare at him with her heart feeling a tinge of pain.

"Oh, Louise, are you finished with what you were doing?", Elliot called out to her.

"Yeah, let's go, I'll buy you some clothes but you'll have to pay me. By the way, what's your name?"

"Eh, you did not know it all this time? You can just call me Elliot. I only have a few gold coins with me"

"Are you still on with that roleplaying? That's tiresome.", she closed her eyes, slapped her forehead lightly, and said this word with a tone of tiredness.

Louise sighed and opened her eyes finding Elliot holding out his hand, and in his hand, there were 3 thick circular objects, they looked like coins, and most shocking of all, they really were made of gold.

"Please hide that, I don't know what crime you did but its better if you return that from where you got it!", shouted Louise in her surprise.

"It's mine. These gold coins are part of the few things I have with me, I also have some jewels here." Elliot said as he held out his hand towards a nearby table.

As Elliot held out his hand, his ring shined with an azure glow, light motes flew out of the ring as jewels materialized in the table. Louise watched all this dumbfounded. She looked at Elliot and the jewels and tried touching the jewels and she found out that they were real.

"You, who are you exactly?", she asked.

"I already told you my name right?"

"Let me rephrase that, what are you? Are you even from this world?"

Elliot looked at her, seemingly reminiscing things far away in the past. Time seemed to have stopped as an aura of glory, regal majesty, and loneliness seeped out of his existence.

"I am Elliot Radcliffe, the Paladin of the glorious Empire of Raha-Adrah. As you may have noticed, I am not from this world."

Louise sighed deeply as she felt tired all of a sudden, she thought that this was troublesome indeed.

"You should have said that earlier!", she said while glaring at Elliot hatefully.
