Chapter 18 - Settling In

The students were all directed to the assembly hall, where they would all be briefed on things pertaining to their stay in the academy. The headmaster of the academy would be leading the assembly.

Raikou stepped into the assembly hall and was greeted to a sight of a completely white interior with blue banners draped on each side.

"They really love the white and blue theme, I feel like i'm going to get locked in with a straitjacket!" he thought.

(A/N: I'm referencing those padded mental institution rooms. Example: https://www.dupagecountydivorcelawyerblog.com/files/2015/04/mental-health-exam.jpg )

There were rows and rows of chairs facing the stage, also in white colour...

"Ok, that's it. No need to be surprised anymore, I am just going to assume they're all white fetishists." Raikou looked at Ghost.

"I'm abit worried I will get penetrated by one of these teachers, my fur is very close to white. Maybe the icy shine will keep them away..." Ghost complained.

"Oh please, there's a hint of blue in your fur. These guys want that pure white action, they must love pale skinned people."

Ghost and Raikou looked at each other and chuckled.

At that moment, a teacher approached them with a stern look on his face. "You there! No pets in the white buildings."

"Don't worry, he's well behaved. I have potty trained him and he only shits in human toilets like us." Raikou replied.

"Hmph, don't try to be a smartass. Tell your pet to leave, it can wait at the entrance for you. Once you are given accomodation, it can stay there."

"Fine fine, Ghost wait outside for now." Raikou winked at Ghost.

Ghost growled at the teacher and left.

Raikou inspected the teacher to see what he was packing.

Name: Mike Hunt

Cultivation: Rank 3 3rd Level

"Oh. He's stronger than the emissaries atleast." Raikou thought. "It's unfortunate that his parents gave him that name though..." He laughed.

(A/N: Say his full name together, hehe.)

Everyone took their seats, as they saw an old man in white robes and a fist length white beard.

"Damn it! I thought I wouldn't be surprised by this shit anymore, but I can't help it. He's completely white! White hair, white beard, white clothes and white skin. Luckily, they don't seem to have an issue with our skin colours. I thought I walked in the KKK Academy for a second there..." He thought.

He inspected the headmaster to see the limits of the academy's strength.

Name: Albertus Dore

Cultivation: Rank 4 9th Level

"Impressive. Usually there is a stronger person behind the leader, the academy must be backed by an Elder level cultivator."

Albertus coughed to get the room settled and began.

"Welcome to the Birminfram Royal Academy. This can be considered a new chapter in your lives. Here you will improve your cultivation and knowledge of the world. In time, any one of you could be standing in my position with enough perseverance." He was trying to get the whole room completely interested in his speech with honeyed words before continuing.

"We will be giving you all a 'White Card', which will have your student ID and accomodation info on it. This card can also be used to map your academy points, which are used to check out skills from the library and purchase equipment. Points can be obtained through attending classes, completing missions, advancing in stripes among other things." He stopped to bring out 10 potential stones to the stage, all bigger than the ones at Hodge City.

"You may recognise these as potential stones used in the selections that brought you here, however these ones are also able to detect your cultivation and skeletal age. This is done to separate you into categories for your classes and to help us know how much resources to allocate to you. Everyone step up to the stage and begin the testing!"

Raikou saw many people go up and come back down, ranging from D class to C class. The people that had B class talent all waited till last to seem more impressive. He was the last to step before the B classes.

He placed his hand on the stone. It glowed and 4 lines appeared, along with his rank 2 cultivation and 15 years of age being displayed. The teachers were impressed with him being the only C class with rank 2 cultivation, displaying tenacity that others don't have.

The rest of the students were rank 2 and B class, other than Moses and the girl that insulted him previously.

"An exception will be made for the two B classes and they will be given 2 stripes along with the rank 2 students."

Raikou was disappointed at not being able to shine today, but he understood there were other ways to display his badassery. It would be difficult to explain how his talent suddenly rose, also it would bring him too much trouble to display A class talent.

Moses was very friendly with Raikou on the journey, but currently he had an aloof attitude and was mingling with the rest of the B class talents.

"How they change with the wind, the woes of my life are endless." Raikou sighed and started monologuing to himself dramatically.

He left the hall and saw Ghost waiting by the entrance.

"You sure took your time! I could hear that old sod giving his speech from here, it was downright boring. I feel kind of lucky to have been spared the sight of that assembly." Ghost remarked.

"Yeah, you're right. It was a waste of my time, I couldn't even show off to anyone." Raikou replied.

Suddenly, teacher Mike came out and tapped Raikou on the shoulder and glared at him. "Who told you that you could leave! There is one more announcement to be made before you're given permission to leave."

Raikou rolled his eyes at him and followed him back in.

The old man glanced at Raikou before clearing his throat. "Tomorrow, those who have reached rank 2 must meet me at the building adjacent to this one. That is the profession building. You will be given the opportunity to pick a profession for yourself. There are 3 classes available; The warrior profession, the archer profession and the mage profession. Choose wisely!"

Raikou was ecstatic. He had forgotten about the professions in this world, so far he hadn't seen anyone with a profession when he inspected them.

"System, why have I not seen the professions of those I inspect?"

"You need to level up the mastery of your observation skill one more time. It is only a D Rank skill and doesn't have much uses in early stages."

Raikou heard this and made his way to the living quarters. He looked at his card to see that he was given room 666.

"What the fuck! Why do they keep giving me this damn number, maybe they think I am a handsome devil!" He thought as he smirked.
