It was the first day of training for the battle assessment that occurs in a month.
Raikou was looking forward to it. He was already extremely strong with the help of the system, but he required a teacher to aid in his cultivating of his sword and elements. He cheerily made his way to the classroom and took a seat next to 'Amelia'.
He smiled at her and prepared himself for class.
Lilia walked in with a stack of papers and began handing them out.
"This is a training regime catered to each of your elemental affinities and talents. We will have instructors of all main weapons used by warriors and you can then pick your weapon of choice. Most people don't use weapons until Rank 2, due to the lack of skills available at such a low level to use with your corresponding weapons. So some of you may not know what you want to use and are free to take this day to try everything to see what fits you."
Raikou looked at his training schedule and it didn't have anything on there to train his spatial element.
"Hey Lilia, I don't see anything here for my spatial element." He asked.
"The spatial element is not only rare, but also the hardest to train out of the 7 elements. It can be considered your bad luck that we don't have any teachers suitable for you in that regard." She replied with no remorse.
"Well that's fucking useless isn't it. I came to learn, but your teachers are incompetent." He mumbled.
Lilia raised her eyebrows. "What did you say?"
Raikou jumped up at his mistake, he forgot that he said that all aloud. "Hehe, nothing."
After 5 minutes, Lilia directed the students to the training grounds to begin their studies.
It was a huge place nearly 5 acres in size. The place they were going to train in was only a small part of the whole grounds.
"Right then, now that we are here, go to your instructor of choice. You only have till today to pick a weapon of choice, after that you will be stuck with the instructors you have picked." Lilia explained.
There were five instructors representing the sword, axe, knife, blunt weapons and spear. "You call this a variety." He thought.
Raikou inspected all the instructors to see that they were all peak General level experts. He walked up to the sword instructor and gave him a smile.
"I've come to learn how to use a sword. Give me a sword, so I can show you my levels of badassery."
The instructor sneered at his remark. "A little shit like you thinks he can get a proper sword on his first day of training. Grab one of the wooden swords behind me and wait!"
"Kiss my ass, who're you calling a little shit. Mark my words, I will make you call me daddy within a month!" Raikou stated.
"Oh really? How about this. We can battle on the last day of training before the battle assessment, and you can show me how 'badass' you are." The instructor looked at him with contempt and challenged him.
"Haha, if you want to be my son just ask." Raikou replied, expressing his agreement, kind of...
He picked up the wooden sword and swung it to get a feel of it.
Skill Obtained!
Skill: Sword Apprentice (Passive)
Rank: C
Mastery: Low (A/N: I forgot to add weapon mastery to the library chapter, it has been added now under the paragraph about artifact classification. It's also in the glossary!)
Description: Increases your proficiency with this weapon. Will evolve upon increasing mastery past the perfect level.
"Hehe, just swinging a sword has given me my first passive skill!" He thought.
He could already feel some familiarity with the weapon.
"Stop swinging it like that, it's not a toy." The instructor glared at him.
Raikou waited until everyone had picked their weapon of choice. Out of the 25 students; 10 had picked the sword, 6 picked the spear, 4 picked the axe, 4 picked the blunt weapons and only one had gone to the knife instructor.
Raikou was surprised to see that Satella was the one who had picked the knife instructor. "That's even more of a worry, that classification involves all sorts of things like daggers. She's basically trying to be an assassin or thief of sorts..."
She saw him looking at her and smiled at him, he blushed and forced a smile in return.
Lilia cleared her throat to get everyone's attention, which also helped Raikou get out of an awkward situation with Satella.
"Right then, you will be training here for the next 4 hours before heading to the elemental classes specified." She grabbed a chair and sat down to watch her students train.
(A/N: I didn't really make this clear, but classes like 2B and 2A are more of a tutor class than anything else. They report back here, but will be learning in other places. I tried to make it more like a modern learning institure, rather than that of an ancient sect style.)
Raikou turned around and smirked at the sword instructor. "Guess you have me for 4 hours."
The sword instructor ignored him and began his lesson. "The most important element of swordplay is footwork, without it your attacks would lack finesse and power to manoeuvre in battle. I will be showing you a basic movement skill to do with combat and you will have the remaining part of 4 hours to comprehend as much as you can. This will be used to determine how much focus you will receive from me based on your talents."
He proceeded to get into a battle stance and displayed the skill at a slow pace. He was moving forward, back, left and right in an unpredictable manner. He suddenly turned on his pivot and slashed downwards with his sword.
"These are the basic foundational steps that are required for any swordsman. The ability to move in any direction and pivot with no faults and at high speeds. Whatever you were able to infer from that will be your own problem."
Raikou got into a similar battle stance and began practising the moves.
Ding! Skill Acquired.
Skill: Basic Footwork
Rank: E
Mastery: Initial Level.
His movements were quite clumsy at the start, but as he continued to practise he felt like he was moving at a more fluid pace.
Lilia looked over and saw how Raikou was getting familiar with the movements at an absurd pace. There was a glint in her eyes, as she looked at him with excitement.
"I think I found myself a disciple!" She thought, but let him finish his 4 hours first.
Raikou had done the same movements for 4 hours straight and was extremely bored of it at this point.
"How the fuck do those novel guys do this shit for so long, I feel like I am still doing the moves now!" He complained.
He looked at his skill panel to see that the basic footwork had already gone up to great perfection!
"What the shit! That was fast, damn I am talented!"
"Calm down. The lower the rank of the skill, the easier it is to master." The system added to dampen his mood.
"Oh..."
