"Your room? Okay then." Kyle replied to her blurted out answer and walked on out while Lila was in shock from her own answer.
"Haaah. I have to stop blurting out answers when I get nervous." Lila sighed as she cupped her face in embarrassment.
"I better get out too." She said after recovering from her little episode of embarrassment, she washed and cleaned herself then she got out too.
Meanwhile, Kyle had already gotten changed and had stepped out of her room already. It was just your average woman's room, since he doesn't know from a clean to a messy room he just considered it average.
He walked out of Lila's room in his new clothes that were given to him back on the plane, but as he was walked out her spotted falling white, dust? He doesn't know what it is since from where he was it didn't snow.
And he didn't have access to the internet or television in the foster home, so he couldn't be exposed to what he calls 'white dust' but in actuality is snow.
Kyle starts his walk over to the window to find out what was this white dust, he gets close enough to look out down to the ground and finds that it's all white. He was confused to what this white dust could be, he was thinking hard in his head.
Lila didn't notice Kyle staring out the window while she was getting out to get changed once again, so she just wandered back into her room to get dressed. But when she was done and was walking out, she spotted him staring blankly out the window.
'What is he doing?' Confused Lila walked over to investigate the situation, but as she was walking over to Kyle she quickly found the reason and sweetly smiled at his back.
"That's snow, have you never seen it before?" She said to him as she walked up next to Kyle.
Kyle turned his head to look at her and shook his head, then he turned back to the window looking down at the ground. After looking at the snow falling and hitting the ground he responded to Lila.
"No, I haven't." Kyle said responded to her.
Lila made a look of accomplishment as she was for once able to read Kyle's thoughts, but then lowered her esteem once she realised that anyone could've done that. Just like in class when you think you've done the right homework, walked and handed it up to the teacher and her saying you've done the wrong assignment.
"Well now you have, it's beautiful isn't it?" Lila kept on talking with Kyle, she wanted to know more about her own child.
"I guess." Kyle responded, he was staring intensely at the snow falling and settling on the concrete floor, watching it pile up to create a layer of white.
His eyes were full of thought, he had a look as if he was trying to remember something. But just could not think of it, no matter how hard he tried.
As Lila was about to open her mouth to say something else to Kyle, a knock on the door came. Lila went over the open it while Kyle was still in his daydream. It was the other woman from earlier informing Lila that some CEO from a major company in Japan had come and she had to attend to them.
Lila went back over to Kyle once she said to the woman she'd be down in a second, she was looking at Kyle in his daydream with sorrow that she had to leave him again. But not for good this time.
"I have to go and attend to something, someone is coming up to mind you in a bit. Is that okay?" She said to Kyle, she couldn't leave a 10 year old on his own in a big room alone. Something bad could happen and no one would be there to help him.
"It's okay, I'm used to being alone anyways." He turned and replied to her, saying it while facing Lila.
He then turned back to the window, staring outside into the white glistening street once again.
"I'm off then." Lila said with sorrow, while she was walking out the room she kept looking back at Kyle, unwilling to leave him. But in the end she walked out the door, her back emersed in love and sorrow.
The door closed with a click as the automatic locking system did it's job, you have to use a facial recognition and a fingerprint scanner to get into all the rooms in the building. It was the Enderson's property after all.
But, there was a flaw in that system. The door couldn't be open from the outside, but it could be opened from the inside. So you didn't need to have a facial scan and finger print scan to get out, and suddenly, Kyle had an idea.
'I already spent most of my life stuck in a home. I'm not going through that again.' Kyle thought in his head as he already started to think of a way to get out of the skyscraper without being noticed by any of the staff.
He couldn't be seen by any on the on-duty staff members since most of them have already seen his appearance, and so if he tried to just walk out he'll be caught. But, every building has a fire exit, just incase there is a fire or some sort of emergancy and people need to evacuate quickly.
He would use that to get out of the building undetected, Kyle didn't want to be stuck inside anymore and wanted to explore, like every child does his age.
Kyle walked over to the door and opened it, the person Lila was supposed to send up wasn't there yet and he had to use this time wisely. He stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him, it locked. He couldn't go back into the room now.
He looked left and right, trying to find the fire exit. But surely enough he found it pretty quickly, he was right about the fire exit being somewhere close. He figured Lila was a big figure inside the company and her safety would be number one priorty above everyone else. So of course a fire exit would be close to her room for Lila to escape if there ever was an emergancy.
But the question now is, does it have an alarm system built into it? Sometimes the emergancy exit doors sound out an alarm once you push the handle on them to notify everyone else in the building that they need to evacuate. But Kyle didn't really have enough time to test it out nor knew how to test it out, so he just walked over and pushed the handle.
Suprisingly, there was not an alarm system built in. There was a fire alarm next to it but for someone important as Lila and not to have an alarm system built into the emergancy exit is surprising. But you could argue that some people might use that door to just use the stairs that it leads to, because the elevator is currently occupied by someone who is coming up or down.
Kyle didn't ponder too much on this matter and made his way down the long stairs, he got to the bottom after walking for quite a bit down the stairs. He was lucky he was going down and not up them or he would've been exausted. When he was going down the flight of many stairs he noticed there was many other fire exits from each floor connecting to the same flight of stairs, once he passed by each fire exit he had to be careful not to be seen.
He got to the bottom unseen thankfully and found the exit. There was another exit at the bottom of the stairs and not just a door connecting to the ground floor to get out because, what if the fire directly came from one of the ground floors and it was all up in flames? The building was made out of quality glass and stone but a big enough fire could still tear everything down.
He pushed the handle on this one and went out, once he had fully opened the exit door a wave of cold freezing air hit him. And an snowy wonderland awaited Kyle.
The cold didn't bother Kyle that much since he basically spent most of his life freezing anyway, it got cold at the winter and he was used to not wearing that much clothing on to protect him from the cold.
He closed the fire exit behind him and began his trud in the snow, it was suprisingly easy to escape that building unseen. But as he was turning his head to look back at where he came from, he noticed cameras.
Startled Kyle began to quicken his truds in the snow as he wanted to get away before someone noticed that was him coming out of the exit, he got a bit fire away into the streets then he slowed down his pace.
Panting from exterting a lot more energy he would have thought from just trying to walk in the snow, he slowly looked up at the big buildings towering above him. Squinting his eyes to stop the snow that was falling from the sky getting into his eyes, he looked at the many towering sky scrapers.
But they weren't as big as the Endersons, but were still fairly big for Kyle. He looked forward and kept his walk going. Looking at all the stores while walking by and staring at the things in the windows.
He was enjoying this walk around the city, but the looks people gave him while he was walking by was odd. Well of course they would be odd, what would you do if you saw a ten year old boy walking alone around the busy city?
But as time quickly passed while Kyle was having fun, the alarm bells suddenly rang. Police cars were blaring their sirens going up and down every road of the city, rushing out of their cars to question random citizens.
"Have you seen a ten year old boy? He's wearing a black jacket and black jeans and has a pale face with black hair." One of the police men asked a passerby.
"I think I have, oh! Is that him?" The passerby said and suddenly saw Kyle at the street parallel to them.
The police were searching for Kyle, because of his sudden disappearance alarm bells were rang. The person who was supposed to come up and mind Kyle came a bit late since she had something do to, and once she entered Lila's room where Kyle was supposed to be situated and found that he was not there, roofs were blown.
Lila went on a rampage when she was informed that Kyle had gone missing, she used all the forces and intelligance she had to find him immdiately. Since the Enderson's connections were so vast, Kyle was found rather quickly and was taken into custody and transferred back to the Enderson's sky scraper.
Lila was waiting at the door once again, just like when he first arrived and scolded Kyle. But she quickly burst into tears once again as her reverse scale was touched. When it came to Kyle, Lila had a special spot in her heart that could not be touched no matter what. And when it does get disturbed she breaks down.
Just like the reverse scale on a dragon, it's the sensitive spot and when it's touched all hell breaks loose. Lila balled and balled her eyes out while embracing Kyle, she could not understand this child at all.
'Why did he leave!?' Lila could not come up with an answer to that question, many thoughts were swirling around in her conciousness as negative thoughts took over.
'Does he hate me?' She suddenly thought, 'That could be the reason.'
"D-do you hate me? Is t-that why you left?" Lila, broken down on the floor crying her heart out asked Kyle who had just returned from his little trip around the city.
"I just wanted to see the city." Kyle responded to her, Kyle didn't exactly hate her but didn't exactly love her either. He still hasn't recognized Lila as his mother and only sees her as someone who will look after him for the time being.
"Y-you could've j-just asked m-me to bring y-you around!" She sobbed while stuttering on her words, she couldn't speak properly.
"Oh, sorry." Kyle said to her, even though Kyle isn't the best when it comes to emotional moments. He could clearly see that Lila was very hurt, anyone would.
It took a while for Lila to finally calm down and go back up to her room with Kyle. They went up the elevator and into her room. The same room Kyle had just left two hours ago.
Lila forced Kyle to hold her hand as she grasped it tightly, not letting it go even when they got into the room. It was getting pretty late in the day and the sun was setting early, it was winter after all.
It had been a while since Kyle had ate but Lila didn't know that, but whether or not he had or he had not eaten today she asked him if he was hungry or not. Kyle replied with a no but Lila didn't believe that a ten year old boy that was walking around the city for hours was not hungry so she ordered the chef to bring up some food to the room, for her and Kyle.
Lila quickly found that a question wont really work with Kyle, and she had to just decide for herself if he needed something or not. But just didn't want to just force things onto him too, scared that a hatred would build up for her, or maybe it's already there.
The food arrived after a bit of waiting since everything is fresh and not frozen, it had to be cooked from scratch. It was probably the nicest food Kyle had ever seen before and he just stared at it while sitting at the table.
"Um, do you not like it?" Lila thought Kyle didn't like the food, hence why he was not eating it and was just staring at it.
"It's just that I've never seen food like this before, and I don't normally get food when I want it either." Kyle responded with a casual sentence, for him anyway.
Lila had a jolt of emotion as another crack appeared on her heart, she held back her tears from reappearing once again as she thought she would build an image in Kyle's head that she was just someone who cried a lot of time.
"O-oh, you should try it. The chef here is very good." Lila said.
Kyle nodded and picked up his knife and fork to dig in, he used them in an odd way since he never handled a knife or a fork before to eat food. Lila just smiled and gave him instructions on how to eat properly with them, Kyle quickly picked up the skill and started to cut up the steak that was infront of him.
The meal that he was given was a glistening lovely looking steak and a couple of vegetables, Kyle didn't care what was on the plate and just was thankful that it was food. Back at that dreadful foster home, sometimes you weren't even fed once a day. So having food at his becken call was rather unusal for him.
But never the less once he put the first bite of steak and vegetable in his mouth, he couldn't stop. He quickly cleared the plate and was quite full, for a ten year old child to eat a whole steak and vegetables is a feat in it self.
Even Lila thought it was amazing and thought he just hadn't eaten in a while, looking down at her food with a guilty look she asked Kyle if he had not eaten in a while.
He responded with a no and said he had eaten some fruit earlier, but she thought he was lying and another crack appeared on her heart. Slowly itching away to breaking down once again.
Once they were done finished eating, Lila called up a maid to clean up the dishes. Confused, Kyle asked Lila why he didn't do it?
"Am I not supposed to clean up?" Kyle asked, he thought he would have to do chores here too.
"O-of course not!" Lila said shocked.
Kyle as used to having to do everything in the house while the adults just relaxed and beat children, and sometimes him for not doing something. Time passed and the sun completely set while the bright moon appeared.
Kyle was in deep thought of what he should do next, and remembered back at the foster home when it came to sleep you would get the stick to the arms. You would've got the stick to the forearms in the morning and at night sometimes when you haven't done anything that day.
Since Kyle hadn't really done anything that day he thought he would have to get hit by Lila, so he walked up to her with his sleeves rolled up ready to be beaten. Confused Lila asked what he was doing.
"Do I not get hit five times with a stick? Or do you do it differently here?" Kyle asked, he thought Lila would already be ready to hit him.
"W-where did y-you get that i-idea f-from!?" Lila raised her voice in shock as her emotions once again began to swirl for the third time that day.
"Back at the foster home, if you hadn't done any chores that day you would get beaten with a stick before sleep." Kyle replied.
"N-no of course n-not! I would never hit you!" Lila embraced Kyle while replying. Even the thought Kyle being beaten hurt her greatly, nevermind her raising a hand to him.
The day was coming to an end and Lila was tired from all that happened, it was quite ajoyful and sorrowful time for her. Lila showed Kyle to an empty room that had been prepared for him, watching Kyle walk into it and getting into the bed. She thought she might ask him if he wanted to sleep in her room insted, but quickly shook her head in denial as it was too quick.
A shaky foundation will slow progress in the future she thought. Kyle got into the comfy bed that was prepared for him and not some brick like matteress. She closed the door as she got the last look at Kyle for the day and made her way into her own room.
She got into her own bed and didn't fall asleep for a while, afraid that Kyle would be scared in that big room all alone. But fell asleep in the end.
The next day...
