Chapter 2 - Transported

'I get paid, free transport and a car just to transport a baby from here to a foster home in the UK? Also I get to stay there for 2 days? Can't get any better than that' Thought a woman with blonde hair, blue eyes and with casual clothes on while driving.

"In about 200 metres, turn right, and you'll be at your destination." A voice came out, it was the GPS signalling her what to do as she did not know the way, she was currently driving on a main road onward to the bay where the ferry would take her and Lila's baby towards the UK where he will be transported onto another car and sent off to London towards his foster home.

"Aah!" The car ran over a large rock sitting in the middle of the road, it made the woman scream out, waking up the baby who was just asleep in the pram. She knew the baby was about to cry out so she attempted to calm him down before he did, but the attempt didn't find any success.

"Waaa!" The baby started crying loudly and the woman didn't know what to do with it other than pick him up and cradle him, after parking the car on the side of the road she reached over and lifted him up into her arms.

"Sshh, it's okay baby." She said quietly to the baby, rocking him back in forth in her arms as she was cradling him, she was able to calm the baby down bit by bit, till finally he went back to sleep again. Now I can continue on, she thought as she put him back into the pram and turned the keys to start the ignition.

She went on her journey for another 150 metres as she had travelled that much since the GPS said so, after another 50 metres the GPS's voice rang out once again, signalling her where to go once again.

"In 100 metres, turn right, and you'll be at your destination." It said

"Yeah I know, stupid GPS." She said to it as she was turning it off, she already knew where to go now since there was clearly signs stating where to go and not to.

After a bit more of driving, she arrived at her destination and got out of the car, before she did that she had already pushed the button inside to open up the boot to bring out her luggage, after she had did what she needed she prepared to bring out the pram with the baby inside and enter the building to depart for the UK.

"Yeah, you're all good." The secruity said to her as she went through the scanners with the pram and luggage, she nodded and proceeded further towards her gate to depart.

After about half an hour of playing on her phone and waiting a voice rang out on the intercom saying that her ferry will be departing soon and will have to walk towards her gate and wait further instructions.

"Okay lady, you're next to go up." A employee said to her as she was signalled that the next person should come up, the woman said thank you as she reeled her luggage and pushed the pram up the ramp onto the ship, but couldn't quite manage, luckily a kind man helped her with the luggage.

"Thank you." She said to him with a smile and looked at her ticket for her room number, it stated that she will be housed at room 234 on the 2nd floor, she asked for directions to the elevator and the attendent kindly escorted her towards it.

"Ding." A ding came out and the elevator had reached the 2nd floor, she walked out with the pram and the luggage, somehow the baby still hasn't woken up and is still sound asleep, she looked at him and smiled, 'What a cute baby, who would want to ever send him off? If not for him already being placed into a foster home I would've taken him in myself' she thought to herself, but she didn't know it was a mistake in the first place.

She followed the signs to her room and swiped the keycard to unlock it, she put her hand on the handle and pushed it open, the room was fairly sized as it had a bathroom, 2 rooms, a kitchen and sitting area, she pushed in the pram and the luggage and began to unpack.

After unpacking her clothes and putting them into the drawers she turned to the pram, she walked over and picked up the baby inside into her arms, she started at the baby's clean white face with a shining light in her eyes.

"Looks like we'll be together for a week and a half before we land little guy." She wispered into his ear, the baby cutely nudged his body into her stomach as he slept.

"Pfft." The woman laughed with a smile that could brighten up anyone's world as she stared deeply at the baby's face loveingly.

A week and a half later...

"We have now arrived at your destination, prepare to depart." The captain's voice came through the intercom as they have arrived at the UK after a long trip.

The woman who was taking care of Lila's for the entire journey turned and looked down at him, he was looking up at her with the purest sky blue eyes with a questioning look, her eyes started to redden as she looked away in attempt not to cry.

She reeled her luggage and pram in the same direction as she did a week and a half ago towards the entrance of the ship where a ramp was leading down to the ground.

The foster home's people were there waiting for her and the baby, it was only 2 people, and they were a man and a woman. They both a had brown hair but the woman had brown eyes while the man had blue eyes, they wore casual attire as if going out for a stroll and had smiling expression on their face.

They both seemed extremely friendly and looked like you can just go up and have a nice chat with them, the woman pushed the pram over to the two of them.

"So this is the child?" The woman said, still mantaining that smiling expression.

"Y-yes." The woman stuttered as she began to cry, she really liked this boy and was afraid of anything happening to him.

"Please take good care of him." She said to them, as if afraid they're going to harm him in some way or mistreat him as he grew up.

"Of course, why wouldn't we want to have such a beautiful baby." The man suddenly spoke up, as if offended by the words the woman spoke.

Once he had said that he started to walk over to the pram and approach the baby, he looked at him with clear eyes with no real emotion showing, he put forth his arms and picked up the baby, he looked at him in his arms for a bit then finally decided.

"Let's call him Kyle, Kyle Reid." He said to the other woman standing in the back.

"That's a great choice John!" She said to the man whos name is apparently John.

"We better get on our way Danielle, it's getting dark." John said to Danielle, as the ferry arrived close to 21:00PM and the sun was disappearing over the horizion as it created that nice orange sunset and that pink sky.

"Okay, thank you for making the trip and we will be on our way now." Danielle said to the woman who had been caring for the baby for a week and a half straight, it seems she was very emotional and was very red in the eyes as she had tears coming out, but Danielle didn't want to comfort her as she walked away with the baby in John's arms as he travelled towards his car.

I should've just kept the baby and went off somewhere else, the woman thought as she wiped away the tears from her eyes, it really hit her hard she had to give that beautiful baby boy off to a foster home where he will be then adopted into another family.

After a while of standing there staring off into the distance she finally was able to collect herself and reel her luggage of into the distance, never seen again.

Meanwhile as John and Danielle get into their they're chatting about the events that just happened, they were confused as to why that woman was crying over such a child.

"She actually cried over a child, what a weak woman." Danielle said to John with a crooked like smile on her face as the friendly deamnor completely vanished from earlier, she looked over her shoulder to the asleep Kyle in the back in a box, for what ever reason they placed a baby into a box, that I don't know.

"They're always like that, even men do it, and I don't understand why." He said with a disgusted expression, both him and Danielle had distorted expressions on their face as they drove towards the foster home.

As they were driving the sun set and the bright luminescent moon came out, it was hiding behind the clouds but still looked magnificent, there wasn't that many cars on the road as it was a bit late to be driving any where at this hour, John and Danielle stayed quiet throughout the journey for whatever reason.

"When do we arrive." Danielle suddenly spoke up to ask a question to John who was currently driving and he only knew the correct time they would be arriving at, she was gazing out of the window into the streets as they just had arrived at a city, it was most likely London.

"15 more minutes." He said with a blank expression, he was focusing on driving and didn't have time to say anything else other than drive.

It took them about 16 minutes to arrive at the foster home, a minute more than what John had predicted but that doesn't matter.

The home wasn't that big and looked like a standard house, but it was a bit old looking and had plants growing up on the walls, it had steps leading up to the door which was white. But the paint degraded over time and looked like it was a bit damaged and had scratches on it, the house had an eerie feeling to it also, as if it was radiating with hostility, it was located on any normal street surronded by other houses as they looked new and were nice.

John and Danielle got out of the car and Danielle went over to open the passengers side, as Kyle was located there. John went walked over to the steps and was about to step onto one, but then the door suddenly opened and a old looking nanny came out with a stern expression.

"Have you brought the new baby?" She said with a stern expression still showing on her face as she looked John straight in the eyes, John seemed shakened up and started to sweat with a terrified look on his face.

"Y-yes m-mother." He said as he stuttered, he looked clearly terrified of her as if she was a monster of some sort.

Once Danielle had heard the so called 'Mother' she quickened her pace and brought out the baby to her, she walked up the steps and presented Kyle as if they're going to perform some satanic ritual.

The old woman brought Kyle into her arms as she looked at him, Kyle slowly opened his eyes from all the racket and moving around and once he saw her face he broke in a loud cry.

"Waaaa!!" He cried loudly as if trying to call for help.

The old woman's face wasn't that nice looking and looked scary, she had a very cold and angry expression once she had heard Kyle's cries.

"Quiet." She said one word and instantly shut Kyle up, the cause was probably because of the way she looked at him, very cold with no warmth in her eyes, not the way to greet a baby who isn't even a year old yet and still doesn't know whats going on.

Once she saw that Kyle had stopped crying she turned and walked into the home, it had a wooden floor that made a creek noise once you had stepped on it, they looked like they have been cleaned regularly and quite old, just like the outside appearance.

The walls just had a dull gray paint on them and nothing else, no art, no picture frames nothing else other than that gray dull paint, that made them look very dull.

When you had walked in there was a stairs leading up to the second and third floors of the home, the stairs were wooden like the floors and looked like they had been cleaned regularly, also very old.

Also when you had walked in it seemed as the home had very little to no insulation and was cold, but not as cold as outside, the house only had a brick wall separating them from the outside world.

The living room wasn't that big as it only had a small television and a couple of furniture around it, it had 2 windows looking out into the street but the curtains were closed so no one can see in and look what's happening inside.

The dining room was connected to the kitchen as it only had a table with a candle in the middle with a cross, the chairs and table were also made out of wood but they didn't look as old as the floor and stairs.

The kitchen was quite plain too, had only a sink to wash the dishes, a couple of drawers to store the dry food in, also little drawers to store the knives and forks in and a fridge to store the frozen food, the counter top was made out of a dark brown wood and the drawers were the same.

As the old woman was walking into the house an older looking child came down the stairs and greeted her.

"Mother, is that the boy?" It was a girl and she looked like she was in her teens, she had blonde hair and it was in a ponytail, she had a few mud marks on her face and had a night attire on as if she was getting ready to go to bed.

"Yes, it is. John what did you decide to name him?" She replied to the young girl and turned to John and asked him what the baby was called.

"Kyle, Kyle Reid." He said to her with a complicated look on his face, it was between fear and some other emotion that no one can explain but himself.

The old woman thought to herself for a bit then nodded her head in confirmation, as if agreeing that was a good name for the baby Kyle.

"Yes, that's a good choice for such a baby." She said as she looked down at Kyle, he was staring at her with a look of fear in his eyes, as if still frightened by her.

She looked away and put her gaze onto the young girl.

"Karoline, bring him up to your bedroom as he is still too young to sleep on his own." She said to the young girl who's name is apparently Karoline, Karoline nodded and walked down the stairs and the old woman placed Kyle into her arms, she looked at him with a blank expression and turned to walk up the stairs.

But the old woman suddenly stopped her and wanted to ask her a question, she had a weird look on her face as she said to Karoline.

"Did you complete all your chores?" She said to her with an questioning expression, as if ready to strike out at her if she said no.

"Y-y-yes m-mother." She said with a frightened look as she saw the old woman readying her hand for an attack on her if she didn't reply correctly.

"That better not be a lie, if so, you'll know what happens, right?" She said in a low scary voice to Karoline as if trying to frighten her into telling the absolute truth.

"Y-y-y-yes i-i-i-it's t-the t-truth." She was competely terrified of the old woman, she looked like she was about to meet the devil or something.

"Good, you may now proceed." The old woman waved her hand and walked into the dining room, followed by John and Danielle.

Once Karoline heard that she was free, it looked like a 10 ton rock was lifted off her shoulder as she let out a breath of air and returned to her cold expression as she walked up the creaky stairs.

There was a hole in the wall as she walked up but didn't seem to care that it was there, probably because it was already there for quite some time already. With Kyle in her arms she walked into bedroom that was surrounded by other rooms too.

She turned and closed the door and suddenly tears started to stream out of her eyes.

"I'm so sorry you had to come here, I'm so sorry." She said to baby Kyle as she hugged him in her arms, but Kyle didn't care as he already had fallen to sleep.

"Who ever sent you here are monsters, monsters I tell you." Karoline cried and cried in grief of Kyle ending up here, she seemed to know more things about this place then others did and it's dark household.

"I'll definitely try and protect you." She said to herself once again as she stopped crying and brought Kyle onto the bead.

Her room was quite plain as it only had a wardrobe and a bed, that was it. The walls were painted the same colour as outside, if you even can call this dull gray a colour, the room was also not warm either as it was a bit cold actually. The bed only had a thin blanket on it and you can only imagine how cold it gets later on into the night.

"I'll keep you warm." She said to Kyle as she got into the bed also and snuggled up her body towards Kyle in an attempt to keep him warm.

"Goodnight." She whispered into his ear as she too fell asleep, she feel asleep quite quickly as it looked like she had did a lot of work today and was tired.

Meanwhile downstairs in the living room, the old mother, John and Danielle were sitting around discussing what to do with Kyle.

"We'll put him to good use anyway, hehe." She said to them with a creepy chuckle at the end of it

Both of them looked each other in the eye and gained an understanding, they quickly figured out what she was going to do, and they guessed she would just treat him like any other foster child in the house, work him to death.

"Yes, that's a good idea." John replied first.

"Yes, I agree." Danielle replied last.

All three of them had a creepy grin on their face as they chatted some more before going up to their respective rooms and sleeping for the night.
