Chereads / MIMI / Chapter 158 - Arrogant & Weak

Chapter 158 - Arrogant & Weak

Henry Hirogori slammed his palm on the table, making the porcelain teacups clatter from the force. "Worthless scum!"

Kenji, who saw his father's angered appearance sighed. With hands behind his back, he cast a glance to the spilled tea on the table but said nothing.

Seth, who was leaning against the sofa, stared at the headlines of the website on his phone with a tilted chin, snorted.

"Tsk, what's there to be so upset about? To get exposed so easily by the media, he was an unreliable asset."

Henry Hirogori's eyes chilled. He raised his grim eyes toward Seth, who stiffened upon receiving his father's icy stare.

Henry Hirogori tried his hardest to suppress his rage as he spoke. "That's not what I'm concerned about. Something like handling the media should is insignificant to him."

Kenji's brows wrinkled when hearing his father's words. "You think someone threatened him?"

Henry grunted in confirmation, a spark of realization and ruthlessness flashed across his narrow eyes.

Seth, who was listening on the side, harrumphed. "So what? If someone threatened him, then that meant he was too weak. What does that have to do with us? It's not like losing his support will damage us."

Both father and son turned to look at Seth with deadpan expressions. Henry's eyes dimmed and he frowned, not bothering to deal with his son's insignificant mind.

He didn't understand how this fellow's mind worked.

When Kenji cast his gaze to his brother, his lips couldn't help but curl into a sneer.

"You still don't get it? Although a fool like President Gu was useless and foolish, his connections weren't small. To be capable of threatening and exposing his misdeeds to the media is someone with power and influence."

Kenji calmly walked over toward the fallen tea set and placed the wet teacups back up.

"But whether or not it affects us has nothing to do with it. Do you know why?"

Although Seth didn't understand what Kenji was saying, his temper was burning high in his heart from Kenji's tone and superior attitude. It was clear he was looking down at him.

Seth stared menacingly at him and furrowed his brows. About to open his mouth to return his brother's question, he was cut off by Kenji's flat tone.

"You don't need to bother answering. All you need to understand is until we find out who is working behind the scenes and their motives, they are not to be underestimated. Are we clear?"

Kenji wiped his wet fingertips with a piece of cloth and looked down coolly with his full height. His icy expression made it clear that he thought he was simply looking at a joke. When Seth heeded Kenji's words, his features contorted into a wretched expression.

With a darkened face, he huffed and waved his hand. "Yeah, yeah, I get it! I'm not an idiot!"

Kenji raised an eyebrow but said nothing before turning to look at Henry Hirogori who had been watching the side this whole time. A curve in his usually frowning lips visible.

"If father doesn't mind, may I be dismissed? Though there aren't any losses, I still need to handle matters at the company after this incident." Kenji spoke courteously, his eyes looking straight into his father's.

Henry glanced at his son and grunted in approval. "Go ahead, you're dismissed."

Kenji lowered his head and left the room. Seth watched Kenji leave with crossed arms, his eyes shooting daggers at his cold back. With just the two left, Henry stared at Seth and narrowed his eyes.

"You should learn from your brother. Don't be too quick to disregard an unknown enemy."

Seth held back the urge to roll his eyes. He snorted contemptuously, "But dad wasn't it you who always said the Hirogori's—"

"Be silent." Henry's voice was abnormally controlled, yet it bore a sense of coldness. "I didn't teach you to be weak and arrogant. You can be arrogant but carry that trait with power, otherwise, you're nothing but a useless fool."

His lips curled into a mocking smile, however, that smile didn't even reach his eyes. "It seems you still have a lot to learn. There's a banquet being hosted this week; I want you to attend. I'll set you up with a suitable girl to go with."

Standing up from his seat, Henry turns to leave but glances at Seth once more. "Do you understand?"

Seth clenched his fists. Averting his father's eyes, he gritted out the words. "I understand."

Grunting in response, Henry turned and left. Alone in the room, Seth's expression contorted into a bitter expression. After a few minutes, he struck the coffee table following a deafening crash and stood up.

"Tsk, someone clean this crap up! And get me a suit!"

With those words, he stomped out of the room, gloomy clouds hovering over his head.

Poke.

"Hey, big brother."

Poke.

"Big brother."

Poke. Poke.

"Big brother, look at me, I grew big boobs!"

Alec, who had tried his best to ignore his little sister, felt his brows twitch. Glancing away from his computer, he looked at the girl sitting beside him.

Sighing in defeat, he asks: "What do you need this time?"

Getting his attention, Mimi flashed a smile and giggled. "What makes you think I need something from you?"

Alec nearly spat out, because that's the only reason you ever come to see me! But he swallowed back the words.

Not bothering with the words her brother wanted to say, Mimi propped herself on the couch, her back straight.

"I came to ask if I could borrow one of your suits."

Alec froze momentarily before his eyes filled with surprise. At that moment, he finally reacted to his sister's bizarre words.

Ah…" Alec paused for two seconds. "You…You want to wear one of my suits?"

Mimi nodded. "Yes."

Alec swallowed silently, a rare sense of pride filling his heart. However, he instantly remembered the person who had asked him this question was his sadistic, perverted sister.

His eyes narrowed as he gazed at her suspiciously, a flash of doubt in his expression.

"Why? Are you going to strangle someone and leave it at the crime scene? Burn it on a pole like a flag? Donate it to charity for the blind?"

The corner of Mimi's lips twitched. It seems like her brother's imagination had upgraded through the years.

Mimi's glowing purple eyes were all smiles as she teased. "Nope! But now that you mention it those do seem like good ideas!"

Alec scowled and turned away from his sister. Seeing her brother's pouting appearance made Mimi chuckled.

"The truth is…I have a date!"

As soon as Mimi finished her words, Alec's entire body tensed. Slowly, he turned to stare at his smiling sister in horror.

He stuttered. "W-What?"

"I have a date," Mimi repeated, her eyes blinking innocently.

At that moment, Alec's mind blanked. His perverted, sadistic, gluttonous sister…had a date? The holding hands, kissing, romantic feeling type of date?!

Alec was sweating bitterly at the mere thought of these words. At that moment, blurred mosaic images flashed through his mind and his expression paled.

"W-With who?" Alec voiced himself to ask.

Mimi's eyes curved as she smiled. "With Emilia!"

Alec, who was caught off guard, felt stunned.

Hey...wait a minute.

Was this his sister's way of coming out?

Not to mention, she was going out with Emilia Yimo! Who would have thought all that teasing she put on the girl would transform into romance.

Alec remained silent for a few more moments before he grasped his sister's hand and offered her a sympathetic, teary expression.

"No matter what, you will always be my sister. You have my full support!"

Looking at his sympathetic expression, Mimi felt the corner of her lips twitch. She did not expect a little joke to end with her brother thought she was gay…Though her previous actions provided him every reason to believe this.

Shaking his hand off, she stands up from the sofa. "So, can I borrow one?"

Alec nodded his head enthusiastically. "Of course, go right ahead!"

"Hehe, thanks, big brother!" Mimi beamed and hopped away to go to Alec's closet.

Alec watched her departing figure and wiped a tear from the corner of his eye. He raised her well!

...

Ten minutes passed, and Mimi came out clothed in a pure white satin tuxedo, her short hair pushed back a little. Alec stared at his sister in awe. Charming was the only word he could think upon seeing her.

"How does it look?" Mimi twirled her body around, her lips curved up.

"You look great, Mimi! I'm surprised it fits you so well." Alec complimented, a smile spread across his face.

He felt like a proud mother seeing his daughter's prom dress!

Mimi nodded her head as if she already knew this. Puckering her brows, she looked down and displayed a helpless expression.

"Though I do feel the crotch area is a little…tight."

Alec: "…"

Hey, what the hell?! Why ruin such a heartwarming moment by taking a punch to his pride?!

Alec bitterly huddled by a couch and cursed for having such a wicked little sister.
