Once Kenji left, Tobias sighed into his seat.
A few seconds passed before he stood up to head toward his private room where Mimi stayed.
Walking in, he was met with Mimi already opening the food he left her and digging in happily. Met with such a sight, he smiled warmly and walked over.
Sitting down across from her, he quietly watched as she ate, his icy facial features softening.
Probably because of her irritable mood previously, Mimi was hardly able to enjoy her meal at lunch. Thus, she felt hungrier than usual and was relieved to see the food on the table when she entered.
Her boss truly was the best!
While Mimi chewed her glazed orange chicken, she glanced up at Tobias and noticed him staring at her intensely.
Swallowing her food, Mimi looks down at her plate and picks up another piece of chicken. "Are you collaborating with Hirogori Corporation?"
Tobias propped his chin on his palm while he stared at the girl and gave a small hum while shaking his head.
"Do you want me to?" Tobias asked, his deep voice hoarse.
Mimi nearly choked on her chicken from his question.
Like hell she did! Why would she want to help her father's company succeed?!
If she did, she would be either an idiot or too merciful.
Not hiding her thoughts, Mimi's lips curled up in a bitter smile. "Truthfully, no. It's true they're very successful and could help boost your company even further, but I think Hirogori Corporation is no good. Especially that Kenji, he's even worse!"
An eyebrow rose on Tobias's face. "How come?"
Mimi huffed and chewed her chicken vigorously. "Well, you saw him out there? All arrogant and shameless. Hmph! He has no manners and treated my big boss like he was beneath him! My big boss will always be on top!"
Her big boss? Tobias's face lit with amusement toward her nickname for him.
"So you listen here Toby, don't get into cahoots with people like the Hirogori's. They're shameless, arrogant, scheming no goods. Got it?" Mimi points her fork at Tobias, her expression stern as if she was a mother lecturing her son.
Tobias smiled and hummed. "Yes, ma'am."
"Good. It seems you're smart after all." Mimi giggled and went in for another bite of orange chicken.
Tobias was far too innocent to be tainted by such people!
She would know since their blood practically flowed through her veins. She knew what measures they would take to stay at the top of society.
Takes a monster to know one.
Tobias chuckled and placed a small meat bun on Mimi's plate. Mimi looked up and beamed.
After finishing all the food, Mimi leaned back on the couch with a content sigh.
She rubbed her round, soft tummy, "Ah, so good! I can live peacefully again!"
Tobias, now sitting beside the girl, looked at her with a raised eyebrow. Mimi shifted her gaze toward him and grinned.
"Do you know what would happen if I didn't have you around Toby?"
"What?"
"I'd starve probably," Mimi snickered. "No one else can satisfy my needs like you do, Toby! So make sure to always be there to feed me, otherwise who knows what'll happen to my beautiful self!"
Tobias nodded his head. "Mmm."
Mimi held back the urge to laugh at the man's seriousness. Even when he knew she was joking, he always took her words so seriously and agreed to her irrational demands.
To Mimi, it was amusing and comforting to see the powerful president of a successful company bend to her will.
It was like watching a large dog wag his tail obediently.
"Today…" Tobias's voice lowered. "Did everything go well?"
Mimi tilted her head to the side. A couple of seconds passed before she understood his question.
That's right, that scene at the restaurant…
Sighing, Mimi looks down at her hands and purses her lips. Seeing Kenji and recalling the events with Hirogori Corporation, her mood dampened.
What happened earlier today made her realize how much she needed to accomplish before she would able to take them down.
Unlike Landon's company, which was considered a bug in Mimi's eyes, her father's was far more difficult to overthrow.
Her company itself was hardly considered a legend amongst her father and Tobias.
After a while of staring at her hands, Mimi slowly raised her head.
"To be honest, there were a few setbacks, but don't worry I have it all under control!" Mimi said a bright smile spread against her lips.
Tobias studied her smile for a while before his expression eased.
"Mm, then do your best." His large hand reached over and softly caressed her head.
"Hehe, I will!"
"And don't forget to take it easy and rest."
"Yes, boss!"
"If you need help, call me."
"Yes!"
"If you don't I'll punish you." His voice deepened while the look in his eyes caused a chill to run down Mimi's spine.
"O-okay…"
"Mm, good. Are you still hungry?"
Mimi blinked at the handsome man dramatically.
This man really was dangerous…
…
Meanwhile, after Kenji left Tobias's office, his eyes glowed darkly.
He spent an entire month conducting a new proposal for Tobias, yet in the end, it was declined once more.
His father would definitely not be pleased with Tobias's response.
Kenji knew his father wanted to collaborate with Tobias for one reason: to find the person responsible for raising his company's stocks.
Nearly nine months ago, Glory Trade Corporation's status plummeted immensely.
The reason? He didn't know.
All he knew was Tobias wasn't responsible for it. Sure the man was a genius, but to be able to increase his profits by ten percent in one month Kenji knew Tobias wasn't capable. And if he was he would have done it long ago.
Eight months later and Tobias's company was ranking at the top, his profits raising by fifty percent.
Such a thing no one has ever seen before!
It was highly outstanding and praiseworthy in the eyes of other companies, but to his father, it was a threat.
No matter what he was going to get Tobias to agree and make it to the top of the industry.
Entering the elevator, his expression filled with cold arrogance, Kenji suddenly remembered the mysterious girl he met in Tobias's office.
Although his voice was low, Kenji, with keen sight and hearing heard him. Mimi was the name he heard Tobias call her.
"Mimi…"
His expression wrinkled. Why did that name sound so familiar?
Ding--!
The sound of the elevator interfered with his thoughts. He decided to push it away for now. If he couldn't remember their name, they must have been unimportant to him.
Exiting the elevator, Kenji quickly leaves the building.
