Olivia couldn't believe her sisters acting but she couldn't dwell on it too long, it seemed that she had more pressing matter to attend to. Agni had said that there were people coming to the house and she seemed delighted by the fact. Which meant trouble for her.
She needed to get things in order on her end, to make sure she wasn't caught off guard. She rushed to her room and started to move anything that would look incriminating in Agni's eyes. She stuffed her apron pockets and opened up the passage way to the basement.
The moment it was opened she rushed downstairs and emptied everything onto the couch. She debated whether to take the time to organize anything then waved her silliness away and ran back upstairs.
She was pretty sure she took everything down and the debated if it was smart to leave the key on the back of the dresser when suddenly the doorbell rang. "Sh*t times up." She cursed and quickly closed the entrance before dashing off towards to front door.
She placed a hand on the door handle and let out a deep breath. She straighten hers back and opened the door. "Welcome.... Officer Rennie?!" She couldn't hide the shock in her voice as she looked at his smiling face. "Good morning! May I come in?" He said cheerfully as he strolled past her without a care in the world.
"Yes, yes, of course!" Olivia shouted awkwardly as she closed the door behind him. "Do you always wear that when greeting people at the door?" He asked as he raised an eyebrow at her. Olivia instantly blushed. "Is it necessary to have a reason to wear something like this? I mean you have seen me in my other outfit."
Office Reenie just started to him a happy tune and walked further into the house. "Officer Reenie is it okay if I go change? I mean you don't mind waiting for me to go change, do you?" Olivia asked bashfully. He turned around with a bright smile and rosy cheeks. "Is this not an everyday lounging outfit?" Olivia dropped her gaze, feeling even more embarrassed and started to fiddle with her fingers.
Officer Rennie let out a small, awkward laugh making her peek up at him. "This is embarrassing to say but with my old age you think certain things would be ingrained into my memory. Like going to the bathroom before you leave the house... may I use your bathroom please?" Olivia's heart rose, he was giving her time to change. "Yes, definitely! Upstairs, turn right. Honestly you can go into any room, they all have bathrooms but if you don't feel comfortable walking into someone's room it's the last door on the right."
Officer Rennie gave her a small nod and walked over towards the stairs. He paused after he placed one hand onto the railing and turned to look at her. "Is there any room I should avoid?" Olivia thought about it for a second and shook her head. "Agni's room is the one on the far left, if you don't want her to explode on you with anger maybe that one." Officer Reenie nodded his head and started to climb the stairs. The moment he turned right Olivia dashed towards her room to change into her 'everyday' outfit. She quickly took out the bun she had tied her hair in and decided to tie it half way up in twin tails.
She looked herself over one more time before she gave herself an internal okay. Then went to wait for Officer Reenie and the bottom landing of the stairs. After 10 minutes she figured something was wrong and decided to go investigate.
As she was reached the top step she noticed that her old bedroom door was slightly opened. She decided to shift gears and head for there instead. She slightly pushed the door open and walked inside. She saw Officer Reenie admiring the robe that Eli had given her. "It's beautiful isn't it?" She whispered as she moved beside him. Officer Rennie nodded his head as a gentle smile appeared on his face.
His eyes started to tear up the longer he looked at it. "Hand made with so much love... they wanted the little man to grow up strong yet gentle, knowledgeable but innocent, doubtful yet trusting. He needed to make his own choices in life and not be bullied into situations that would make him lose. The peach blossom are to ward of evil yet it also means spring, a time for love. The stars are to guide him through the darkness and allow him to dream for a future. While this cluster right here shows the dragon constellation... the year he was born."
"Officer Rennie by any chance do you know who-?!" Olivia began to ask but was interrupted by Officer Reenie pushing her out of the room. "Well enough of that! We shouldn't dwell on things too long my dear we have to get started on this stupid report, I suddenly have the strong urge to go home and see my lovely wife." He said with a bright smile.
Officer Rennie clicked his pen and looked at Olivia with a serious expression. "So why did you miss your father's celebration of life service?" Olivia kept her hands on her lap and started to make them into fists. "You can ask my mother. I have no other excuse." Officer Rennie brought his eyebrow up in disbelief. "So you were feeling so guilty about murdering your father you couldn't attend?"
Olivia jaw dropped. "No? Then you couldn't stomach your mother getting everyone's sympathy? That everyone had to offer their condolences while they shot you disgusted looks?" Olivia pursed her lips and felt her eyes start to sting, warning her that tears were coming. "No again? Then it must be that you felt nothing for your father oops I mean adopted father, that your love was superficial and that is why you felt no remorse after you watched him die."
"No! I loved my daddy! I still love him! If I have too I will take a DNA test, I'll take a lie detector test, I will stand before the Pope and confess whatever that witch wants just so she can stop that rumour and not have anyone doubt my love for my daddy!" She started to shout as she hugged herself, tears started streaming down her face. "My daddy, my grandfather and my mother were taken away from me and I will not stand anyone telling these blatant lies!"
Officer Rennie started to write something on his pad of paper. "You called your mother a witch.... would you like to expand on your feelings. I mean she is quite the loving mother." Olivia shot Officer Reenie a look full of disdain. "That monster stole my father's hopes and dreams by murdering him with the help of her cronies. She deceived my dad, tried to murder me on more then one occasion, had her men murder my grandfather, murdered my mother, abused my sisters and is planning to rip my child out of my womb the moment it's big enough just so people would think she gave birth to my father's child!"
"A cobra is more loving then her! Scratch that a rock is more loving and motherly then her! My true feelings are hate! I hate her, I'm afraid of her, I want her brought to justice but who is going to believe anything I say! She's hiding -?!" Olivia ranted and quickly realized she said too much. She called back her emotions and locked them away. Leaving only a blank look on her face.
"What is she hiding?" Officer Reenie asked in a gentle voice, trying to coax a lost kitten to come out into the open. While Olivia just sat there, unresponsive. "Olivia, what is she trying to hide?" He asked a little more sternly. Olivia stared off absent mindedly, keeping a firm hold on her body. "Nothing." She mumbled. Officer Reenie put his pen down and started to pinch the small space in between his brows. "I can't help you if you can't open up to me and tell the truth."
Olivia moved her gaze and focused on his face. "How can you help if you work with the people who want me to disappear?" She whispered as a small tear rolled down her cheek. "I want to help." He started to say but Olivia interupted him. "But you can't because your hands are tied right? I need to tell you everything just so you can write me off as what, insane? A danger to myself? My child? Oh right she wants everyone to believe I'm not pregnant..."
Officer Reenie slammed his fist against the table and looked absolutely livid. "How dare you put words in my mouth! You don't know me or who I am loyal to. So don't you dare put on a pity party thinking you are the only one wronged in this world!" Olivia shrank back into her chair and dropped her gaze to the table. After a short while she peeked up from her eyelashes and looked at Officer Reenie. He was rubbing his temples with his eyes closed.
"Why are you trying to help me?" She asked quietly causing Officer Reenie to freeze. He opened one eye and dropped his hands onto the table. "I believe in justice and getting the truth." He said blatantly. Olivia shook her head. "No... why does it have to be me you help?" Officer Rennie opened both eyes and gave her a sly smile. "My dear you need to ask better questions. I think what you want to know is who I am loyal to."
Olivia started to blush and averted her gaze. "I think I gave enough clues for you to figure it out." He said with a light laugh. Olivia's heart started to warm up. She bit her bottom lip and dared to look into his eye, hoping that she could have a sign that her thoughts and assumptions were right. As she saw the twinkle in his one eye saw felt a smile creep up her face, she opened her mouth to voice out the person's name when suddenly the doorbell rang.
Olivia let out a small shriek from the unexpected interuption. She quickly got up and bowed to Officer Reenie. "I'm so sorry for my rudeness but I need to go answer the door now." Officer Rennie got up from his chair and placed a hand on to her shoulder. "Where you expecting someone?" He asked sternly causing Olivia to lift her head. "Yes but I'm not sure who it is."
Officer Rennie removed his hand and gave her a small nod. "I think I might stick close by just to make sure you are safe." Olivia let out a sigh of relief and thanked him before they heard the doorbell ring again. They walked towards the door and Officer Reenie stood to the side. He gave her a nod and she gave him a weak smile before she opened the door.
Within seconds the colour drained from Olivia's face when she saw a group of men all dressed in light blue jumpers parade into the foyer. The were all lead by a short, white male who she instantly recognize as Carl. "Hello Ms. Maid, we came to play." He said with a disgusting smirk. Olivia subconsciously stepped back, fighting the urge to run away screaming.
A hacking cough was suddenly heard and everyone turned to look at the person who was coughing. Soon five pairs of eyes were looking at an old man dressed in dark blue bent over. Olivia moved to Officer Reenie and started to pat his back. "Are you ok sir?" Officer Rennie started to wave his hand. "It's okay dear, just my lungs acting up again ... cough.... cough.... cough... could I trouble you for some honey lemon tea?" Olivia started to nodded her head vigorously.
"It will only take a few moments but try to hold on until then." She said before she started to walk backwards away from him. "Yes, yes, I'm not going anywhere." He replied before he coughed up an imaginary lung. Olivia turned and ran into the kitchen and grabbed the kettle. She filled it half way and plugged it in before she looked through the pantry for tea. She then hesitated, afraid of the tea being spiked so she moved to the fridge and dug out some lemons.
She then grabbed a pot and placed it on to the stove top. She positioned herself in front of the cutting board and started cutting the lemons in half. She then grabbed the lemon juicer and squeezed all the halfed lemons. She pulled the kettle off the stand and poured the water into the pot. She turned the stove on and poured the lemon juice into the already heated water. She moved to grab the jar of raw honey from the pantry and saw that the water was already boiling. She turned off the stove and scooped two tablespoons of honey into the pot.
Once she saw the honey dissolved she grabbed a travel mug and slowly filled it with the liquid. She placed the lid back on and quickly moved into the foyer. As she approached Officer Reenie the air in the room seemed lethal. She extended her arm and passed the mug to Officer Reenie. He smiled brightly as he received the mug and the four men seemed to let out their breaths that they had been holding.
A confused Olivia looked at the men then to Officer Reenie. "Good news! These nice gentlemen have agreed to have me personally supervise them as they install security cameras inside your home." He said with a brilliant smile. Olivia raised both her eyebrows. "What do you mean cameras inside my house."
Officer Rennie gave her a wink then looked at the men. "Apparently Mrs. Steel believes she needs extra security.... surely a lovely lady like that can't be too careful now in days. I mean with strapping men such as yourself, working hard to please your mast-I-mean boss, what can go wrong?" He said playful, causing the men to sweet profusely. "Your right, I mean we don't want cause any trouble so having Officer Reenie to personally watch your work is something the Madam would celebrate."Olivia said with a crooked smile.
"I'm glad we are in agreement! Now Barl let's get to work." Officer Rennie shouted as he directed them towards the first room. As Olivia walked past Carl she could hear him mumble. "It's Carl..."
"That's what I said! Farl, let's go!" Officer Rennie shouted as they all walked up the stairs then turned left.
