It was finally the day of the debutante and Olivia woke up with a spring in her step. She was finally able to present herself to the world as a young lady of the Steel family and was was pretty happy that she wouldn't be alone.
She ran into Laila's room and jumped on her bed, minding her little crescent moon that was growing in her womb. "Good morning Laila!" she shouted as she pulled off the covers. Laila started to giggle as she pulled back her covers. "You're too happy this morning! let me sleep." she said playfully and made a show off snuggling her face into her pillow.
"No, no, no, no! Laila you need to come help me wake up Loreley in a grand way!" she said excitedly as she army crawled next to her sister's face. Laila's shot open her eyes and gave her a wide grin. "What do you have in mind?" she asked as her eyes sparkled with anticipation.
"Get out of bed right now and see." she said teasingly as she sat up and bum scooted off Laila's bed. Once Olivia was safely off the bed Laila kicked off the comforter and stood up on her bed. She gave Olivia a mischievous smile and jumped off the overly plush princess bed, her cotton, pink sheep patterned dress slightly fluttered as she cannon balled into a giant M*rio mushroom shaped bean bag.
Olivia beamed at her sister and was proud that she found her own fun way to get up every morning. As Laila got up from the bean bag Olivia grabbed her hand and started to half drag her into her own bedroom. She silently closed the door behind them and went into her closet. She brought out a bag and handed it to Laila with sparkling eyes.
Laila looked in the bag and then to Olivia "No!" she said excitedly and Olivia nodded her head enthusiastically. Olivia reached into the bag and pulled out two tube like objects "We go into her room screaming bloody murder, let these babies go and then go to dad's room and do the same thing." she said with an evil smile.
"Yes!" Laila shouted as she grabbed her own pair. "No take the bag we need to arm Loreley too!" she said as she opened the door. "Ok!" Laila answered as she followed Olivia out. They both tiptoed their way to Loreley's door, Olivia signaled to Laila to set the bag down and to get herself ready.
Once she was armed Olivia nodded and mouthed the numbers '3, 2, 1' and Olivia kicked opened the door. The girls started screaming at the top of of their lungs making Loreley jump right out of bed. She got caught in the comforter and tumbled onto a metallic blue, shag rug. "What the f*ck is wrong?!" Loreley shouted as she looked at the girls.
Olivia and Laila grinned like mad woman, they dropped one tube onto the carpet and pulled the string that was hanging off the tube in their other hand. There was a loud 'pop' before a shower of tinsel and sparkling heart shaped confetti started polluting the air.
"Reload!" Olivia shouted as they bent down and picked up the tube they dropped earlier and pulled the string again. Another 'pop' sound was produced but this time a shower of glitter was shot out. Olivia and Laila looked at each other proudly then at Loreley who was on the floor covered in tinsel, confetti and glitter.
Loreley started drumming her finger on the carpet as she propped herself up with the other hand. She blew air up towards a piece of tinsel that had sat on top of her head and blocked her vision for one eye. "Well what..'puff'... do you ... 'puff' two have to ... 'puff, puff, p-u-ffff'.... have to say for yourselves?" she said unimpressed with their prank.
Laila clutched her sides as she laughed while Olivia gave her a broad smile "It's finally our debutante!" she shouted. Loreley rolled her eyes "Yes it is but can you help me out of this mess... please." she said flatly. Laila awkwardly stretched out her hand after she calmed down and Olivia unwrapped the blanket from her body.
"Laila how did you get this mess off so easily?" Loreley asked as she brought her hands into her hair and started to tousle it, bits of glitter started falling down down on to the carpet. Laila started to laugh awkwardly as she avoided her twin sister's question.
Loreley stopped moving her hands and brought her face up "Wait you guys only pranked me?" she said softly. Olivia felt her heart break and she quickly rushed to retrieve the bag from the hallway. "No I just thought with Laila on my side you wouldn't be as mad at me about the surprise and then I was going to convince you to prank dad with us." Olivia said sheepishly as she gave Loreley a puppy dog look.
Loreley's eyes grew as she saw the bag "You're doing it again?!" she asked astonishingly. Olivia dropped her gaze and lowered the bag "Ya maybe we shouldn't..." she said regrettably. Loreley grabbed the hand holding the bag and started smiling from ear to ear. "Let's go!" she shouted as she dragged Olivia out the room.
The girls walked slowly to their dad's room and armed themselves with two party tubes each. They looked at one another excitedly and kicked opened his door and started screaming. However Avery didn't stir from his bed, the girls were confused and started to let their screams die down as they walked closer towards the mound on the bed.
Once they reached Avery's bedside and gave the mound a poke, the walk-in closet doors slid opened and out came Avery shouting at the top of his lungs. They girls spun around screaming in fear just as Avery pulled up his homemade, hand held cardboard confetti gun. He had a chain of confetti tubes hanging down the side and he gave them an evil smirk and he pulled the trigger.
"It's debutante day! So let's f*cking celebrate!" Avery yelled as thousands of glittering pieces of confetti showered the girls. After the ten canisters of confetti were emptied Avery threw his gun to the side, removed his tie that he had wrapped around his head, he had tried looking like R*mbo and walked up to the defeat girls.
"Do you surrender?" he asked haughty. The girls groaned as the tried to get up from the mess. "I will take that as a yes. So you better get up soon and get dressed, we have the traditional debutante breakfast with everyone." he said as he turned away from them and positioned himself in front of the mirror to tie his tie.
Once he was done he looked at his girls with the help of his mirror, he tried hard to suppress his laughter as they tried to shake off the confetti. "The car is leaving in 15 minutes so I suggest you move fast ladies." he said nonchalantly.
The girls stopped moving and quickly looked at Avery in disbelief. "Oh you thought you had more time. Sorry to say I moved your clocks back an hour oops." he said with a shrug. So the girls raced out of his run leaving just bits of confetti behind. Avery couldn't hold back anymore and grabbed the door to his room for support as he tried to call out to them in between his laughs. "Don't waste your time trying to get the confetti off I had it specially made just for you!"
.....
The moment the Steel family walked into the Grand Glory hotel's banquet hall everyone's eyes turned to them. Olivia, Laila and Loreley were mortified as the walked up to their designated table. It was bad enough that people were gossiping about Olivia not being dead and people had come to their own speculations on what really happened but to walk in with her sisters looking like glittery triplets was just bad.
The girls were at least happy that the confetti started to disintegrate off their skins as the started to sweat but couldn't do anything about their hair so they jumped into the shower after they did a 10 minute Z*mba workout. After a quick soapy rinse they barely dried off, got dressed and tied their hair into messy side buns on the drive to the Grand Glory.
The girls quickly took their seats as Avery covered his mouth with a fist, trying his best to not start out right laughing at the whole situation. Olivia felt relieved when she saw Mrs. Sentis siting beside Blair and Mrs. Dokmai beside Autumn. Avery coughed a little to clear the laughter from his throat. "Cheryl-Lynn, Blair, Cynthia, Autumn, it's good to see you again." he said politely.
Cheryl-Lynn raised an eyebrow delicately as she eyeballed Avery while Cynthia gave a small greeting before she started sipping her tea. Avery started to sweat as he felt the hostile aura the woman at the table were giving him. Avery never let his stoic face falter as the air became suffocating when he sat himself down.
Cheryl-Lynn gave up her silent assault on Avery and turned to the girls "Must be hard having a dad like him." she said snidely as she jerked her head into Avery direction. Olivia started to smile "It's not like we're any better he just beat us in our own game." The tension started to drop and the mother's let their shoulder's relax.
Cynthia readjusted her collar on her koi fish and lotus blossom print kimono. "Agni." she said bluntly after she was done. Avery sighed before he answered "Out of our lives." Cheryl-Lynn slapped the table and her eyes brightened. "So you're back to playing ma and pa now?!" she shouted excitedly. Avery just gave a single nod noticing that the woman who were accompany their daughters were now listening closely.
"Well your family got a little bit bigger and you guys look a lot... cough.... livelier." Cynthia said as she looked at the three girls. Avery gave the women in front of him a wide grin "And when April comes around I will be a watching over my favorite little waterlily so my hands will be full playing mom, dad and grandfather."
