Even if the opportunity was good I had three days left to complete the mission and I don't want to take unnecessary risks.
Even if a lot of people left the house I didn't see the group that was catching the horse in the afternoon. With this in mind, I have no way to know for sure that the amount of people inside is less than the people than the people looking for me outside.
To go inside and complete the mission I have to be clearer about Jamie's true force.
From the house I'm currently at, I can see a three-story house across the street. This is the house I thought about earlier, and it was huge, the size of each of the floors was comparable to one of the floors of the building we currently live in. From here I couldn't see any trace of lights inside.
Most people under Jamie's orders live in the houses around the big one. The guards and patrols came from those houses and not the main one, even with everything that happened, I couldn't see any movements from the mansion.
Since I can't take the risk of going inside and get caught by whoever is in that house, I had to do something else.
If I'm able to finish off the beasts that are with the search parties it would become easier to move around without being noticed.
In the search groups, I saw two people that grabbed my attention. One of them is the warehouse guy who excitedly looked around whit the baseball bat in his shoulder, the other was a fat guy who for some reason was laughing loudly. Both of them had the mutated "snake-chains" surrounding them, and those crazy eyes that showed the loss of their minds and that there was no coming back for them.
My decision of who could and who couldn't save can be a little arbitrary, but it's not like that. Most of the people under Jamie's control is deprived of the use of their bodies, but their mind was intact. They can't go against Jamie's orders, but they know that what they are doing is wrong and also can think for themselves.
The people that have fallen already lost their minds, you can see it in their eyes, that there is no difference between them and a Berserker beast. Because of this, even for the search parties, they went solo.
Then the decision of what to do was easily made, I was going to target these two people and the beasts that are looking for me. The main target would be the beasts because this would make a future infiltration easier and help me finish the hunting mission.
About those two guys… if I see them I would take care of them, because even in the best of the cases they were still a danger for everyone.
I know the approximate direction that the beasts groups move fast towards that direction.
…
…
Moving around with so many people looking for me was more difficult than I thought.
On the first block, in one out of three backyards I tried to move to there was at least one person looking around. I had to do my best to move silently and take a good look when I came to a new house. It would be great to have the improved hearing sense right now.
The direction I'm moving toward being that of the first dog that picks up my smell, also the fat guy came in this direction, the reason is simple. Since I was moving on the backyards, it was difficult for the dogs to follow a trail. I knew that they would pick up the smell from when I was tailing that team in the afternoon, and it would be possible for them to backtrack me.
If I'm not wrong the dogs are going to pick up the trail and follow it towards my first safehouse.
I'm not worried about them trying to go into the city, at least not for now, but I should take care of the dogs soon to avoid that possibility anyway.
Moving like this had an unexpected reward.

[Congratulations, user's Stealth Level Up!]
[Stealth Lv. 1-->Stealth Lv.2]
Now that I think about it, I kept moving stealthily all the time, so this level up took a lot more time than I thought it would. Luckily I didn't spend the skill points on it, but with all the use I gave to this skill how much time would it take to other skills to level up?
With the level up, I felt that the noise I made while moving around was less than before. I noticed that even if I got the skill I never asked what the exact effects were.
'System what are the exact effects of Stealth?'
[Stealth works against all the normal types of detection, the amount of noise, smell and even light reflected on the skin are lowered depending on the skill level. The probability of being detected by the five senses is lower than before, this doesn't work against supernatural means of detection like scrying, divination, mind detection, and others].
The skill was a lot more useful than I thought before, it even helps me when I hide in a shadow to a certain extent. I should take my time to analyze in detail the effects of each of the skills I have in the future, to take advantage of all of them.
It took me a while, but I managed to get to get into a house in the middle of the street through the backyards.
I was waiting for two guys to go into a house to cross the street to continue. After they went inside the house, I chose the house they had just checked. I went inside and stopped moving to focus trying to listen carefully to be sure that there was nobody else inside. I saw a table turned over and the place was in a horrible state. After a few seconds, I sighed and moved towards the backyard.
In the house to my right I could hear a window breaking, this was the house those guys just went into.
'They were the ones that do that in this house too?' I didn't get what was the advantage of doing this, maybe they were just venting, or they were about to lose their minds too.
There was nothing I could do for them right now, for the moment they haven't fallen like the others, and I hope they don't.
In the house on my left, there was also the sound of someone causing a huge mess.
When I thought about my other targets I decide to peek and saw the fat guy breaking everything he found.
I didn't think about it too much I took the chance and drop on his backyard while he broke a metal table with his arms. He didn't seem to notice while happily broke a chair that used to be a match for the table.
His strength surprised me, but I wasn't that worried because his movements were slow. I took out the shotgun with the mess he was making it could at least muffle the sound of the shot… maybe.
I changed my view to be sure that there was nothing weird with his weak points. The reason for the shotgun was that it would be a sure kill, and with the mess he was making I think a sound like this can pass unnoticed.
I held my breath and moved closer to my target, and at the same moment he threw a chair and broke a window I pulled the trigger at almost point blank to his neck.
[Congratulations, on killing an F-Rank Human, 5 System points Rewarded]
[Skill Obtained Ambush Lv. 0]
The scene I saw was something I hope I can forget soon. The enhance he had was not a skin or endurance type, so even if the muscles on his body were stronger his resistance was that of a normal human being.
And you can imagine what happens to your neck when someone shots you at point blank.
The first time I kill someone I felt bad, but it was self-defense, the second time, it was two kidnappers and I was there to rescue Isabella.
But this time it was different, I use this excuse of them being almost beast to convince me that this was the correct thing to do. If he saw me he would have tried to kill me after all, those were his orders, but I was the one who looked for him in the end.
Sometimes I feel that the cold mind perk messes with my head and makes me lose sight of what is correct and what is not. I understand that I can't treat the right and wrong as I used to, it's a different world but this situation made me think.
How far am I willing to go for me and my friends to survive?
