Chapter 61 - Hopefully, My Plans will Push Through

20XX, April 17, Sunday, 7:47 PM; Konner House, My Room

It's still Sunday. The night after Eli killed uncle. It still felt weird that I had to go to work tomorrow knowing what happened last night.

I managed to sleep after I wrote the previous entry. My sleep was a little restless though. I kept waking up. Like when the sun shone through my windows, when a neighborhood dog barked or when Mrs. Cruz's voice gossiping again reached my room. I went back to sleep everytime since I was slightly afraid of the atmosphere when Eli and I talked again.

When I woke up this afternoon, I went out to the living room to find Eli already gone. He left a note stuck in front of the television, easier for me to see. It would have been easier to stick it in the refrigerator, which was the first place we go to in the morning, but I preferred to go to a convenience store to get something to eat today. I guess it was the same for Eli since I saw a boxed lunch and bread left in the coffee table. I ate it all while cold.

As for Eli's note, it was short, saying we should talk to our aunt and uncle about it together. That would mean I have to preserve the body in the basement for a week. It was weird to get my phone and search on how to preserve the body longer. Before, I was even hoping for Jason's body to decompose faster, to be discovered by his neighbors immediately. That took around three days to be discovered and the weather then was cold. Now, it was almost summer so I have a big problem.

Fortunately, Eli also said that he would try to get home earlier. He was not a regular member in their team yet anyway. He had to enroll to the university first but the scholarship was already offered to him. Now, my problem was still what would happen to his scholarship if the news got out that he killed our uncle.

Even with our aunt and uncle's help, I'm afraid it would be easy for Eli to retain the offer. What to do? Can I convince him to say that it was me who killed uncle?

Anyway, after eating, I went to check the body in the basement. I had to rub my shoulders when I stepped inside. I wanted to get back up to wear something thick but I was afraid that I wouldn't have the courage to go down again later. Last night, we left the air conditioner on at its lowest temperature, hoping it would help slow down the body's decomposition.

The lighting inside was a little dim. My leg bumped on some equipment left there. It was uncle's when he was a mechanic, so he should be feeling at home here.

Joking aside, I hastily went to the table where we left the body. Eli wrapped him on some plastic left here. When I lifted it to look at his face, I only thought that he changed a lot from my memories. He was thinner and older. I also don't remember him ever having facial hair.

Afterwards, I covered him again and checked the temperature. Now, I'm back here in my room writing to have a clearer plan of my next actions.

I actually have good news. Rick was back in town again. I heard that from a few university classmates when we went out drinking. They said that he might stay longer this year but nobody could say until when. They were busy speculating if they finally have a chance with him. However, I couldn't ask them more about his whereabouts or his stay, or someone might get suspicious with my persistence.

I have a plan for him and was thinking of finishing everything this week, before Eli came back. I don't want to jinx it, so I'll write about the events that came through instead of my plans. Good luck to me!
