Chapter 21 - Eli and I were in a New Place Again

20XX, September 8; New home, Konner House

Hey! A lot happened these past few months after that fire in our house so I'll write all about it here.

After Eli and I were done with the tests in the hospital, the police told us that dad was dead. Since these guys were dad's coworkers, I trusted them to tell the truth so I didn't ask to see the body. That will be scary. I watched a few horror movies with burned bodies before so I'm also thinking they will close dad's coffin during the burial.

Then, we were not required to go to school and we talked to some official looking people where we will be living next since our house is also gone now. They told us that a cousin of dad was willing to take us in and see if they will do it permanently or until we were older based on our attitude.

But I heard Chelsea also offered to take us in. It was just that she actually doesn't have a permanent work to support us and she was just depending on the money she got from her divorce. I'm glad of their decision. Besides, I don't think Chelsea was serious. Maybe it was just for show for others to see that she really likes dad.

As the officials were talking to me and Eli, dad's cousin was on the way to take us in so we got to move in just a few hours. The cousin was a police woman. I don't know what's with dad's family being police officers. Anyway, she was married to a mechanic but they never had children. They live in another town but it was close to ours so we were still able to go to our current school. At least until I graduated.

Good thing I just finished elementary grade and can start middle school in a new school now. Same with Eli actually, just entering elementery grade now.

So, dad's cousin's name is Clare Konner and her husband was Robert Konner. They were around the same age as dad. They told us to call them aunt and uncle. I wanna say too that aunt likes Eli very much. I think she wants to have a boy too and Eli is still young for her to experience how to be a mom.

Uncle might like girls since he kept looking and smiling at me when we met. He works in their garage as a mechanic so he was almost always at home. They actually have two extra rooms in their house so Eli and I have separate rooms now.

Once we were properly living here, aunt told us about dad's burial and it was Chelsea who prepared it. After that, we were busy with school, my graduation, entrance exam and our transfer. Then, they let us play in a nearby beach in the summer and then school again.

Not much new to say about the new school. I'll write again if I have time or feel like it.
