Chapter 8 - VIII. Constant Reminder

We both continued eating our breakfast without a word. And only the music of birds that were flying by filled the house.

I seemed to be wondering about how we got here so fast last night, i didn't know teleport bands were already released in public

"So..." i said, playing around with my spoon

"I was wondering how you already have a TP band. I didn't know they were released early"

He looked at me

"Oh, what, this? My brother gave it to me"

"Your brother?"

"Yes, my younger brother. He's a physicist. Semi inventor"

I smiled

"He must be really smart then, where is he now?"

"What? You don't know him?"

I looked at him in confusion

"You were with him yesterday"

I then quickly tried to recall the events yesterday.

"I don't think i've seen anyone like looking a smart guy"

He laughed

"What?"

"You ate with him yesterday in a noodle shop"

I rubbed my head

"You don't mean-

No way."

"Yep" he continued to chuckle

"That gray guy? The one that i ate with at the noodle shop?

That guy you smacked in the face? And dragged up the building?"

He cleared his throat. His face became more stoic

"Y-yes. That man."

*I think i might have said something i shouldn't have.*

I placed the spoon on the plate as Leo seemed to be contemplating on something.

I looked at the time on the wall. It was already nine o'clock

"Oh, i gotta go. I'm almost late"

I jumped off the bench and ran toward the stairs

"Late for what?"

"For class" i look back at him

"You planning on walking all the way there?"

"Of course not!"

"I thought so."

And so, after i've packed my stuff and dressed up so fast without taking a bath, Leo called me downstairs so he could transport me to my college easily.

We both landed at the front of the school. Near the entrance fountain where people all around were chatting in batches, not seem to be minding us.

He told me to call him whenever i'm done for class, in which case he gave me his number and bid goodbye

That day, turned out to be fine. Second day of class was good, despite some problems with my arithmetics, but overall it was great.

At our one-hour break time, i went to the cafeteria to order my favourite item on the menu, a strawberry milkshake-

... i forgot.

I don't have any money.

That's alright, i might aswell grab my small packet of oat-crackers in my bag-

...it's already empty.

*sigh*

I guess i'll just have to drink water.

Thirty-minutes have already past and i was just staring the main hall of the college, sitting at one of the empty benches near the mini park of the school, where the huge dome ontop of me were adorned in renaissance paintings inspired by the "Great Galileo".

No light was able to seep through the dome, there were only glass panes on the sides of the hall where only half of the sunlight could enter.

And in the distance, i could hear old pop music by the great Greenday, some were barely audible, some i could hear were by some really old composers like Adele, who passed away a few decades ago.

This reminded me,

What were the lives of people back Seventy years ago like?

It put a smile on my face thinking of this, it must have been a good era.

Where everything was new...

Everything was fresh...

Sitting alone sure does get you thinking.

Not because i want to be alone,

i just dont have any friends to begin with.

"Hey, scuse me" a guy approached me from behind

To my suprise, it was a guy from my class.

He was a looker. Six-feet, copper eyes, good physique and hair as brown as dried leaves

*wait that's not right*

Hair as brown as the autum leaves.

* Yes that sounds right! *

"You seem to be alone" he pieced a smile

"Oh! Oh yes! I am!" I startled my self, mesmirized at his face

"Mind if i seat with you?" He asked, pointing at the empty seat next to mine

"Sure! Anytime" i smiled
