Chapter 141 - New Base

Mango scoffs and says "I really hope you aren't thinking of staying here!" I smirk and nod my head as I walk forward and say "It's perfect." Mango makes a strangled noise before saying "Perfect!? It's a trash heap! It's literally falling apart! What's the point in this dump when we have the perfect house in the rune?"

I sigh and shake my head as I say "I told you before Mango. We can't get back to our world while inside of the rune. We have to find a way back in this world so we need a safe place to do that." He makes a sound of disbelief before crossing his little arms and pouting. Plus, even though the rune is nice, it feels... void. Almost like it's stale or something but I'm not sure. I just know staying there for a long time wouldn't be the best thing to do.

I stop in front of the house and look at it with a large smile. It just needs a little tender love and care. I slip my shoes off and wiggle my toes in the grass before saying "Let's get to work." I use the woods around me as the trees in and around the house slowly start changing.

My magic guides the trees, instantly propping up the old roof again as the other strengthens the walls and doorways. This house was becoming a living house. Made with living trees and flowers! The vines snake up the sides of the house, patching up the holes as my magic comes behind them and helps.

The stones that made up the flooring slowly pushes its way back up to the surface of the ground, instantly fixing the floors and pathways. When the house is almost done, the fence around the entire house becomes covered in vines.

The vines not only fix the fence, but it also grows taller and more sturdy before sprouting large, sharp thorns. As the house finishes, so does the fence. Flowers bloom, showing their happiness as a way of welcoming me.

I nod in approval and walk into the house with a large smile. Everything was covered in a layer of dirt and dust but with a wave of my hand, my magic washes through the house, cleaning every nook and cranny.

I nod in approval again and say "Now we just need to get furniture." Mango scoffs and jumps down before saying "Are you not looking with your eyes!? This is a glorified treehouse, at best! Furniture?? It needs more than that for this place to be liveable! Just burn it down and build a real house!"

Before I can say anything, a vine snakes out and pops Mango right on his furry butt! He yelps and jumps before racing back to my shoulder with teary eyes. I chuckle and say "Be careful, Mango. This is a living house. She won't like it if you insult her beauty."

Mango shrinks in on himself while holding his tiny butt and mumbling "Beautiful... hah..." When he hears rustling, he flinches and hides in my hair while saying "Beautiful! So so beautiful! I was soo blinded by your beauty before, I was momentarily blinded and didn't realize just how beautiful you truly were!"

I snort in laughter before coughing and say "Yes, yes. Mango gets a little stupid in the face of beauty." Mango glares at me but he doesn't correct me. I walk further into the house and spin around before saying "We'll have to travel to the next town over to get things. I don't want to go back to the capital and risk running into that man again."

Mango rolls his eyes and mutters "Oooor, just stay in the rune at night." I resist the urge to flick Mango as my irritation grows but something he says has me pausing. The rune... I close my eyes and pop back into the house inside the rune.

I don't know if this will work but... here goes nothing. I turn and walk all the way to the bedroom as Mango jumps up with excitement and says "I knew you'd come to your senses! This place is so much better! Do you smell that? Huh? Huh? Huh? That's the smell of new and fresh!"

He takes a deep breath and tries to jump off my shoulder but I catch him by his tail midair and say "Not so fast furball." I walk over to the bed and hold onto it with my free hand before closing my eyes and going back to the real world.

I open my eyes and smile in delight when I see the large bed sitting in the middle of the room. It worked! Mango goes limp and stares at the bed in despair, clearly understanding my intentions now. I chuckle in delight and drop him onto the bed as I say "Oh cheer up, Mango. This will make everything so much easier."

Mango lays on the bed completely still like he's given up on life, earning another chuckle from me. I look around the small house and slightly frown. How am I going to make this large bed fit in such a small house?

As if reading my thoughts, the house starts moving. A large opening opens up before revealing an equally large room but the floor was just dirt. Probably because this room is a new edition to the house but that doesn't matter.

I use my magic to move the large bed into the equally large room. The room doesn't have any windows and at first, it confused me but I quickly realized why. It was built into the small mountain on the backside of the house!

I put the bed in the right spot before spinning around in delight. It's going to be the perfect bedroom! I giggle and wiggle my toes, releasing my magic. Bright, fluffy green grass starts to sprout around my toes before spreading out to the entire room.

I use my magic to clean the stone walls as the grass fluffs to the perfect height. Mango watches me with a look of disgust from the bed. Hating everything about it but I ignore him and disappear back into the rune.

After grabbing everything I needed, I reappear and start lining the entire room with fairy lights. Much like the fairy lights in the human realm but these run off magic! After hanging them all, I snap my fingers and smile with delight when the whole room lights up.

Yeah, this was going to be the perfect place.
