After the middle-aged human had left, I went into some deep thinking. Apparently the human cultivation was body refinement, dantian gathering, major meridian, minor meridian, viscera refinement, post-xiantian, xiantian, saint immortal, saint demi-god, and saint god. Then the creature ranking is just 1 to 50 with certain ranks equal to human cultivation ranks.
Although I don't know what creature or human ranking I'm at, I'll certainly find out in the future. Getting tired of hanging on the side, I crawled up before landing on flat deck. I saw many disciples of this clan either lazily chatting around or doing some type of work. Some were even flirting with female disciples.
But this was kinda disturbed when me, the 30-meter dome-shaped shingle-roofed devouring sea urchin suddenly appeared on deck, causing quite a disturbance. Very quickly, everyone backed up out of fear while others became alert and on guard. Some even ran off trying to notify. But I ignored them and prepared to take a nap once more.
"What are you doing?" asked Cosmo, who was ten meters away, with an alert look on his face.
You expect me to hang against a wall all day? I need to lay on flat surface to relax. Don't mind me.
*Sigh*
"Alright," he said; quietly explaining to the others. Their faces turned weird as they occasionally peeked at me. The fear and alertness in their eyes dimmed significantly, but there was still wariness. I closed my eyes once again, to take a nap.
I woke up this time early in the morning with the sound of a click going off inside me. Checking myself, I realized I had broken through in cultivation again. My Qi had become twice as dense, and I felt stronger. But that's not the most important part. I instinctively released my consciousness, and it spread through the area. Divine sense! I have gained divine sense!
I tried exiting my body but realized I couldn't. I couldn't exit control mode of the creature. Checking myself, I realized that my soul and the sea urchin's soul had completely merged. There's no longer that faint connection, but a whole connection, as if we are one. I've gained and lost something at the same time.
I've lost my source of eyesight and hearing, but I've gained divine sense that partially makes up for it. Seeing right now is a bit weird as a lot of it is extremely blurry, to the point that images are only clear a meter away from me. Farther than that, everything becomes blobular. Hearing is alright, no changes. I just have to constantly release divine sense for things to be partially the way they were.
I slowly spread out my divine sense, and it grew outwards in all directions. However, I reached the limit after one mile. Retracting back to the ship, I searched through the entire ship before being stopped by a barrier around the captains quarters. It wouldn't budge no matter what. Frustrated, I infused devour energy into my divine sense, which easily penetrated through. I saw inside and it was the middle-aged man who had a gloomy look on his face.
"Who are you?!" he demanded. I used my devour energy to create words inside the cabin.
Don't worry it's me. I've gained divine sense.
"Divine sense? You've gained divine sense?" he asked. There was doubt in his eyes.
I suddenly broke through this morning.
"Monsters only gain diving sense around rank 30 is what I'm told," he said as he gradually relaxed his guard.
When do humans gain divine sense?
"Eh? Usually when one completes the major meridian realm. Why do you ask?"
No reason, sorry for intruding.
I retracted my divine sense until it was only a few meters around me. I have seemingly figured out what realm I'm at. I must be around major meridian realm or the beginning of rank 7. This has given me a basis of understanding. My guess is that the creature that ate the flood dragon is around saint realm or close to it.
I felt a sense of unease as I looked into the extremely blurry sea. A small dark blur in the horizon was there but looking at it, it must be what he said as dangerous territory. It wasn't until several more hours went by that I could see a little more clearly. It was a huge storm that stretched across the horizon with no end. Lighting constantly appeared and vanished in an instant. Just the place gave me an intimidating feeling. I could understand why the guy would want to hire me.
I curiously watched the disciples all get on guard, all nervous. All of a sudden, a little female disciple broke lose of the grip of her older peer and ran up to me. The peer shrieked in terror and looked away with a pale face.
"Mr. monster. Are you going to protect us?" she asked timidly while shaking. I couldn't help but laugh at her cuteness and wished I had hands. I sent out a stream of devour.
Little girl. I wanna see who can defeat me, the great sea urchin.
If it was a middle-aged guy and asked cutely like that, I would've sucked their blood essence dry and killed them out of disgust. But since it's her, I don't mind. Plus, giving humans a bad reputation right now isn't wise for my plans.
"Thank you mister!" she said giggling as she ran back cheerfully. I sighed and decided to nap for the rest of the day, as I might need it for the upcoming territory.
Nobody woke me up, so when I woke up and used my divine sense, the clouds were already above our heads. The water had become more choppy and wavy with fierce winds blowing white mist off the top of them. The beautiful skies had vanished and a sense of pressure from above could be felt, as if the heaven's didn't welcome any newcomers.
The ship rock'd a little more than usual, and everybody was more tense than yesterday. Guards seemed to be place on each side as lookouts with a cultivator sitting at the top of the mast. I watched the surroundings as well because if this ship got destroyed, how will I reach human civilization? Marine clans are too hard to find, so I'd like to see how humans are doing.
Three large creatures half the size of the ship suddenly appeared nearby and attempted to attack the ship. The disciples tensed in fear. The middle-aged man appeared and swiftly attacked. The aura from his body soared up as three Qi attacks were unleashed, they quickly severed open the three, causing blood to splash out as they furiously roared. His cultivation seems to be at the minor meridian realm.
Devour swords appeared and quickly severed the still-alive creatures into plenty of pieces. This is a new move I had comprehended in my free time while soaring across the waters for a week. Since devour can go through anything, it'd be Qi efficient and effective to turn them into long blades.
The blades turned into snakes that wrapped around the pieces and carried them over. The middle-aged guy looked at me weirdly with surprise in his eyes.
I get all the rewards of killing for protecting your ship.
He seemed to hesitate before nodding. All the pieces were rapidly put on board before turning into a huge pile. I couldn't fully bring it all on board since each one was half the ship's size. But I gained something I hand't in the past. A monster core! I brought it close to my body and looked at it.
It's body was like a perfectly rounded gem with crystalline structures within with a red hue. I could feel energy being emitted from it's body. The only question, is why didn't I get any cores from when I fought against those creatures that were trying to eat the flood dragon, especially the two large ones? Could they been dead puppets? I don't know to be honest.
I swallowed one of the cores and it hit my stomach. Tons of impure energy that contained wild emotions of the monster quickly escaped. Using devour laws, they were suppressed before being eaten and turned into usable energy. The crystalline structure quickly melted into a liquid before entering the sides of my stomach.
They traveled through my flesh before stopping at my dantian. It was like my dantain was in the way, so they smashed into it, causing it to shake. If I had a face, it would've turned pale. My body shook as I nearly coughed a mouthful of blood. W-what the hell are you doing?! I roared.
This continued on for a bit. My body blood continuously shook. My cultivation seemed on the verge of collapsing. But just when my dantian was about to give out, the melted core seemed to give up, before wrapping itself around the dantian like it was attracted. It stagnated there before the dantian absorbed it, causing its wall to turn crystal red and shiny.
I widened my eyes in response as I wiped away the imaginary sweat. I thought I was doomed, but something unexpected happened. I tried calming myself down by munching on the stockpiles of monster meat. But before I knew it, they were already gone as well.
Hesitating, I ate another red core. It's energies were absorbed before the core itself melted into a liquid once again. It attacked the dantian once again but it didn't shake this time, allowing me to sigh in relief. Eventually, it gave up before stagnating once again. This time, the flesh nearby seemingly devoured the liquid this time, causing the flesh to glow a crystalline red, emitting the darkness inside me.
I ate the last one in joy, and it attacked the flesh with the crystalline red this time, but it failed and was absorbed by more flesh, causing more crystalline red flesh to appear. It seems as though I made an unexpected discovery this time. I exited to see the middle-aged man staring at me in shock. Looking around, I realized that all the blood and flesh of the creatures had already been eaten.
If I was a little girl, I would've stuck out my tongue and said, "Tee-hee!" But I just ignored him and digested the food in my stomach. Some of the disciples weirdly looked at me. After seeing the little fight, the hostility and wariness had decreased a bit.
As long as a saint realm creature doesn't appear, we should all be fine.
It wasn't until I heard a roar that was the same as the one that ate the flood dragon. I instantly paled and the middle-aged man coughed up blood as he paled in horror. This time, I just didn't feel the roar and it's horrifying presence approaching, I felt it locked onto me and the ship.
I guess my time of death is much sooner than I thought.
