I think my story is pretty okay, I don't expect much from a goblin anyway.
He starts making growls, if I didn't have telepathy I never would have believed that they were intelligent creatures.
"Greetings Red Wings, you must be wise seeing that I'm the noble one." He throws a smug look at the goblin standing next to him. "Although not so wise to lose your way in this forest, there are many dangerous creatures around here. I cannot allow you into the village without permission of our chief, do you want to meet him? He's really noble and strong."
"I'd be honored if your chief would like to meet with me."
And like that the other goblin went inside to talk to the chief. I thought the goblin that stayed was more talkative, but he didn't say anything until his chief arrived.
The chief came surprisingly fast, I imagined him to take quite some time but he looks like he rushed over right away.
"Greetings great Red, I hope my subordinates have not been insulting in any way?"
He's surprisingly well mannered too, although it still sounds like growls and yelps.
"They have behaved well chief of the goblins, it's truly praiseworthy."
I decided to butter him up a little while I examine him. He's blue too but stands two heads taller than the other goblins, he's more bulky and his eyes look more intelligent. His clothes look like the pelt of a white wolf, but the skin hasn't been processed properly. So there are thin parts in the leather, but also thick parts with pieces of meat still on it.
He has 2 drops of blood essence, but they don't make me want to devour them. So, he's of more use as an information bank.
"I'll reward them later." The 2 guard goblins look very proud while hearing that. "But I do want to ask what a great red fairy like yourself brings you here in this far corner of the world, and even honors us lowly goblins with a visit?"
I never would have expected that he'd put himself in such a low place in front of his subordinates. He made me curious about the red fairies though, how should I make him talk? Probably just ask what he knows.
"Ohh, so you have heard from the red fairies before? What did you hear?"
"I've heard many great things. Red fairies, takers of victory and bringers of doom. The only races that can compare to your stories are the true races, the true dragons, true angels, true demons, and so on. If this lowly goblin can be of your service you just need to say the word."
"Have you ever seen another red fairy before?"
"No, this is the first time I've been honored with laying my eyes a great one like you."
So that's why he puts himself in such a low position, red fairies are such a legendary race that he doesn't even have the guts to question if I'm real or not.
"I am just a passerby, so you don't need to worry my friend. I'm just looking for a place where I can rest and maybe some information about stronger creatures in the area. I'm here to look for true battles in this forest."
Like this I can get what I want, and me calling him a friend will make him proud. So, we all win.
"Of course, of course great red. Follow me in and I'll bring you to my own room and prepare the greatest meats."
He waves his arms a little awkwardly to invite me in, he lacks even more social skills than I did in my previous life. I always enjoy watching people who are even more awkward than I am.
"I really appreciate your offer, but there's no need for the food. I'm on a really strict diet that's part of my task here. Why don't we just sit and talk about this area?" I tell him as I follow him inside the village.
The village holds about a thousand goblins, it's pretty big. I think I could just destroy the village if I wanted to, but in a frontal collision I would get hurt too.
"Yes yes, of course. Follow me and I'll tell you about everything around here."
We walked into his hut and there was a female goblin inside that hurried out when she saw me. The chief gave an angry look, I think he told her to leave before.
We sat down and our talk started. I learned a lot, although he can only tell me about a small part of this forest.
Including his own clan there are 9 big clans within a week travel. I've met 2 already, the white and black wolf tribe. They are at a constant war, but as they are the furthest north they are the first line of defense against outsiders so nobody bothers with them.
There's a clan of rainbow birds with the ability to move light, they excel in visual illusions. A clan of moleman that live underground but they don't really bother with anyone. There's a clan of green goblins who excel at crafting weapons but are physically weak. A clan of life elementals, they are secluded because they don't want to hurt others, but others are greedy and always want war.
The most interesting clan up till this point is a clan that consists of white lizardman, they are a clan of scouts for the strongest being in the forest, the True White Evil Dragon. And as I was telling myself that they will be my next victim the chief tells me about the last clan.
The clan of dark fortune crows. This is another bird clan, but it's told that their ancestor was a crow that achieved godhood in a time long forgotten.
After hearing that I lost all interest in those stupid lizards, okay, not all interest. The crows will be exterminated first, and the dragon scouts will be a second.
